What can you do with a masters in public administration

The opportunities for a musician to succeed are so much larger than meets the eye.

It is true that orchestral/ensemble/solo performance as well as teaching are the two most popular careers in music.

While these career paths can be exceptionally rewarding to those who are passionate about the vocations of teaching and performing, the reality is that there are many, many more options that are available to those who have a music degree.

In fact, whether you can believe it or not, there are over 70+ exceptional and yes, lucrative careers you can pursue with a music degree.

That’s right over 70(!) careers are available to those with a music degree. I bet you never knew that.

It’s true that some of these careers might require functional knowledge outside of the core requirements of your music degree and possibly even require a specialized degree. For example, if you want to get a job as a grant writer for a music organization, working as an intern at a non-profit arts organization could provide you with the necessary skills for learning how to write grants. Also, taking a grant-writing class at your university could assist tremendously.

So let’s get into it. Here are 70+ careers, listed alphabetically, that are available for musicians who have successfully graduated with a music degree.

The Careers Salaries, Listed Alphabetically

No Credit Check Loans

By Justin Pritchard. Banking/Loans Expert

Justin Pritchard helps consumers navigate the world of banking.

If your credit prevents you from getting a loan, it may be possible to borrow without relying on your credit history. However, you need to be careful when using no credit check loans. These loans are expensive, and they only make sense when all other options are off the table.

Do You Really Need One?

If they say no, that’s fine – you can always look at other options. But you never know for sure until you ask.

It’s important to understand that lenders aren’t in business to lose money. If anybody is willing to lend you money without checking your credit, they’re doing it for a price. Make sure you know what that price is before you apply. They’ll typically charge high interest rates along with various fees to compensate them for the risk. If you can avoid paying that price, do so.

In general, it’s best to avoid no credit check loans unless you’re truly out of options. They should not be used to purchase “wants” or luxuries – they’re best for “needs.” If you need to fix your car so that you can keep getting to work (and earning an income), one of these loans might make sense. The same is true for a medical procedure that you have no other way of funding.

Types of Loans

No credit check loans are typically short term loans that you get relatively quickly. These generally aren’t loans that you’ll repay over several years; a few weeks or months is more common. They are very much like payday loans. which are expensive short-term loans. In fact, a lot of advertisements for no credit check loans are really just ads for payday loan programs. Lenders don’t make these lending decisions based on your credit score. Instead, they look at your income, and assume that you’ll keep your job long enough to pay off the loan.

Another common type of loan is a longer term loan that you get by pledging collateral. Car title loans. for example, allow you to borrow against the value of your automobile. The lender gives you cash, but in exchange you authorize them to take your vehicle if you fail to repay the loan on time. These loans can be especially problematic if you need your car to get to work and continue earning an income.

Avoid Scams

Borrowers looking to borrow without credit inquiries are desperate, so scammers are naturally easy to find in this space.

The most common scams involve charging fees while providing nothing in return. Application fees are not unheard of, but beware of lenders who want fees up-front – you might not get what you pay for. Fees should be clearly disclosed up-front. If you get any “surprises,” start worrying. Reputable lenders tell you what to expect, while scam artists just take what they can for as long as you’ll give it to them. Any fees should be taken out of your loan proceeds after your loan is approved.

You should also pay attention to what type of information your lender is asking for. Do they want your Social Security Number? Why do they need it if your credit doesn’t matter? They might end up running your credit (which can ding your credit scores) or using the information for identity theft. If you’re not 100% sure who you’re dealing with, keep your Social Security Number to yourself.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Keep an eye out for overly optimistic promises: nobody can “guarantee” you anything – especially if they don’t you (they need to know a few things about you before deciding whether or not to lend money). Remember also that these loans are always going to be expensive because they are risky loans to make. If you don’t see some hefty costs involved (a high interest rate. or loan processing fees that will be taken out of your loan proceeds), you’re probably not getting the whole picture.

Build Credit

In order to avoid these types of loans in the future, start building credit as soon as possible. Someday you’ll be able to borrow much less expensively, and you’ll have more options available to you (such as longer term loans and higher credit limits ) if you build credit. Title Check – Look before you buy

Welcome to Title Check!

Here you can select an approved provider to check the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the vehicle you want to purchase to find out if it is salvaged, rebuilt, or was damaged in a flood. This is one of the most important steps you can take to protect yourself before making your purchase.

Here’s what you do to complete a Title Check:

  1. Get the VIN of the vehicle you want to buy.
  2. Have your credit card available.
  3. Select one of the approved providers below. Prices begin at only a couple dollars so you may want to shop the vendors before making a selection. Be sure to note what is offered for the price.
  4. Follow the steps to obtain the report.

The VIN is run through the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), a national consumer protection database that provides title information from states across the country. Whether you are buying from a local dealer, individual or eyeing a vehicle from an online auction website, it will help you to know what you are buying before you pay any money or sign any paperwork for the vehicle.

A report from the NMVTIS database gives you the vehicle’s title history, which includes whether the vehicle was ever in the possession of a junk or salvage yard or declared a “total loss” by an insurance company.

Protect your title, Texas.

Why You Should NOT Buy a New Car

17 Oct 2012 by Ben

Welcome to the 5th  Smart Money Debate at ReadyForZero . To see the other side  of this debate, read Miranda s post: Why You Should Buy a New Car (Not Used). And then let us know which argument was more convincing!

Buying new things is fun. I love unwrapping the shiny packaging, opening up the box, and smelling the factory made scent of something brand new. There is nothing quite like holding something in your hands that nobody else has ever used. It makes you feel well special.

You know what makes me feel even more special than buying something brand new? Saving money. That is why almost everything I purchase is used. Don t get me wrong I m not one to purchase a used pair of Hanes. However, with most items, you can find great deals if you are willing to buy used. This is especially true when it comes to major purchases like cars.

While I wouldn t recommend buying any old lemon, buying used cars is the only thing that makes sense financially. Our family has purchased new before, and we consider it to be one of the biggest financial mistakes we have ever made. Here is why we will never buy a new car again and neither should you!

Reason #1: New Cars Don t Hold Their Value

We ve all heard this before, but it bears repeating: a new car begins losing value the minute that you drive it off the lot. How much value you ask? According to Edmunds.com, a new car loses approximately 10% of its value as soon as you drive away. 10%. Furthermore, it loses about 20% of its value after the first year, and 10% off the original purchase price per year after that. Depending on the make and model of your new car, you may have lost up to 80% of the value from the purchase price within 5 years!

Would you invest $25,000 in the stock market if you knew that you were going to lose $2,500 the moment you completed the transaction? Would you buy a house for $200,000 if you knew for a fact that it would only be worth $180,000 the minute you were handed the key and $160,000 a year later. Of course you wouldn t! No sane person would. Why would you do the same thing with a car? Let somebody take that huge financial hit by buying the new car. Then, you can take advantage of their silliness and buy the car used after they trade it in a few years later.

Reason #2: Used Cars are Cheaper

Since new cars are clearly a poor investment, it makes sense that the sticker price for used cars is far less expensive than the newer models. For instance, a brand new 2012 Toyota Prius is currently selling for around $28,500. Earlier this year, we were able to purchase a used 2009 Prius with under 25,000 miles for only $17,500. While red isn t exactly my favorite color, I was happy to suffer through it in order to save $11,000.

Reason #3: Less Worry

You know the nervous feeling that you get when you buy something new? You become very protective of it. You don t want anything to spill or scratch it. You re so proud of it that you want it to stay looking all brand new and shiny for forever. That is why you bought the product new in the first place. Afterall, what good is a new car if it doesn t actually look new.

I hate to tell you this, but eventually everything that is new is going to become blemished. When it does, you may be devastated especially if you spent as much money on it as you would a car. Why not save yourself all of that worry, headache, and stress? Just buy your cars used. A nick, dent, or scratch doesn t seem like such a big deal then.

Reason #4: Warranties are Available

People who tell you to buy a new car will tout the great warranties with which new cars come. Guess what. Most used cars will come with a warranty as well. In fact, the most important warranty the manufacturer s powertrain warranty should still be in effect as long as the car has not exceeded its age or mileage limits. This warranty covers all of the big stuff that might break like your engine or transmission. So, the warranty argument doesn t really hold water. If the warranty is in effect, the argument that you are going to have to pay for more repairs to a used car than you would for a new car doesn t really work either.

Reason #5: A New Car is a Bad Investment

Have I mentioned that a new car loses 10% of its value the moment you drive it off the lot and 20% of its value over the first year alone. Oh, I did? Good. Well, this is so important that I m mentioning it again. If that new car smell is still tempting you, go back and read Reason #1 to help snap you back into reality. Then, go out and buy a New Car Smell air freshener to put in your used car, and save yourself thousands of dollars.

As you can see, buying a new car is not the best decision for your finances. While that new car smell may make you feel like you are loaded, buying a new car is just another way of trying to look wealthy. It is a status symbol that savvy spenders can do without. If you re in the market for a new car, do yourself a favor and buy a used one instead.

Before You Purchase Commercial Auto Business Insurance

By Gregory Boop. Business Insurance Expert

Commercial auto insurance is one of the most important aspects of your business insurance program. If your business uses a vehicle, or many vehicles, you need commercial auto insurance and you will want to ask your business insurance professional some important questions. You will also want to provide your business insurance professional with a complete picture of your vehicle use.

How Many Vehicles and Drivers Will the Business Insure?

Commercial auto insurers often separate coverage types based on the number of vehicles and drivers to be insured. Fleet insurance is an option for businesses that will have a number of vehicles and drivers. The number of vehicles differs with each insurer and may depend on the class of vehicle. But, fleet insurance may be a less expensive alternative than individual, per vehicle policies.

What is the Policy Definition of Commercial Use?

Your personal auto policy will exclude coverage for commercial uses of your vehicle.

A commercial policy will establish a definition of commercial use as well. It is important that you read the definition and discuss this with your insurance professional. If there is any question, it is better to obtain a commercial auto policy so that, in case of an accident, there is no chance of being uninsured.

How Can You Lower Premium Costs?

Commercial auto business insurance premiums can be lowered by:

  • Business Location – the location of the vehicles determines premiums for theft.
  • Driver Records – hire only qualified drivers with safe driving records.

  • Choice of Vehicle – sales people may want sports cars, but five-star safety rated, domestic, mid-sized sedans have the lowest premiums.
  • Deductibles – can your business afford part of the risk and maintain a high deductible? If so, your premiums will be lower.
  • Safety and Anti-Theft Devices – alarms, GPS tracking, air bags, seat belts, and other such devices can significantly lower premiums.
  • Insure U for Small Business Tips on Lowering Premiums

Auto and Homeowners Insurance: Is AARP Looking Out for You?

Last Updated Oct 9, 2009 1:34 PM EDT

The way insurance companies barrage you with television ads promising to save you money, you might think they were paying you instead of the other way around. In the case of the GEICO googly eyes or actor Dennis Haysbert hawking Allstate policies, at least it’s private companies pitching their wares. But then there are the auto insurance ads touting the $388 saved, on average, by people who switched to plans offered through AARP by The Hartford Financial Services Group. The ads also say that AARP members who own homes might save an additional $148 by switching their homeowners coverage. In this case, the trusted nonprofit is lending its name to a commercial venture. Pay less, get the AARP imprimatur. What’s not to like? Read on to find out.

As part of our continuing analysis of AARP s financial services products (earlier stories covered AARP mutual funds and AARP life insurance and annuities ), we wondered how well the huge organization was treating its 40 million members with the homeowners and auto policies it sells. So we examined the coverage and compared AARP/The Hartford prices with those of Allstate, State Farm, GEICO, and Progressive in three zip codes to answer the question, Should you put AARP on your policy shopping list?

Our answer: If you are shopping on price alone, no. You can save money in some cases a lot of money by taking your business elsewhere. But the policies do offer a few appealing features that you might find are more than worth the extra cost. And The Hartford has an impressive customer service record.

AARP has marketed The Hartford s homeowners and auto policies for 25 years and deserves credit for choosing a quality partner. The Hartford was among the top five insurers in J.D. Power and Associates 2008 homeowners and auto insurance customer service surveys. They have a reputation for working with their customers and trying to solve problems without litigating claims, compared to some of their competitors, says Amy Bach, executive director of United Policyholders. a San Francisco-based organization that advocates for consumers on home and auto insurance. The number of complaints filed against The Hartford, as tracked by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, is below the industry average and has been declining for the past several years.

Middling Marks for Prices

AARP s homeowners and auto policies are often not the least expensive, however, which echoes what we found with its life insurance offerings. There is a cost to having some of the features in the program, acknowledges Richard Hisey, president of AARP Financial, the for-profit arm of AARP. We believe that if you re comparing apples-to-apples features, we will be cost-competitive.

For our price-shopping survey, we asked AARP/The Hartford, Allstate, State Farm, GEICO, and Progressive for quotes for a 53-year-old AARP member driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue and living in a $250,000 wood-frame house. And since the cost of the same insurance can vary by zip code, we requested quotes in Charlotte, N.C.; Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Schaumburg, Ill. We told the insurers to apply any standard auto discounts available based on his driving record and profile. Since AARP s auto rates were for 12 months and the others were for six months, we divided AARP s figures in half.

For auto insurance, AARP/The Hartford was the priciest insurer in Scottsdale and Schaumburg and in the middle of the pack in Charlotte. Progressive was the least expensive in Scottsdale, costing a whopping 42 percent less than AARP/The Hartford. GEICO was the cheapest in both Charlotte and Schaumburg, charging 28 percent less and 15 percent less, respectively, than AARP/The Hartford.

Buy a new car? Are you crazy?

People shopping for new cars should stop, right now, and think about it, Consumer Reports says, though it does not say so quite as bluntly.

“Buying a new car might be a lousy financial move,” warns the widely consulted publication, which posted its comprehensive annual auto report online Tuesday and mails its April auto issue print magazine to subscribers next week. The April issue hits newsstands March 5.

USA TODAY

You can justify replacing your old car to get the latest safety gear, Consumer Reports says, but not necessarily because of dents and dings.

You can justify replacing your old car to get the latest safety gear, Consumer Reports says, but not necessarily because of dents and dings. less

The overriding reason: You’re about to spend a lot more than you think and more than you probably need to.

Keeping what you already drive could “not only free you from a new cycle of monthly payments, but also save a bundle in insurance, taxes and other expenses — primarily depreciation.”

A car is worth about half its new value after three years, depending on the vehicle. Consumer Reports says the average value after three years is 54% of new.

CR provides a decision tree that — answered honestly — encourages many would-be new-car buyers to keep their old cars, buy newer used cars or fix a few gripes with aftermarket equipment.

Emotion, not just reason, drives car purchases, of course, so no coldly analytical approach will influence everyone. But thinking through the decision this way could suggest cheaper ways to address the true reasons why a shopper is in the market for a new car in the first place.

The decision tree starts by letting you choose among three major reasons why you might think you want a new car: to save money on gas and repairs, to get a safer vehicle or to get more features and amenities.

Under the “save money” category, you’re discouraged from buying a replacement vehicle unless you’re driving a major-league gas guzzler and/or your annual repair costs are more than a year of new-car payments would be.

And the gas-guzzler rationale is suspect even if fuel prices don’t stay as low as they have been. It takes a lot of fuel savings to equal even one month’s car payment. Longer at the nationwide average for regular of about $2.33 at midweek, according to travel organization AAA. A year ago it was about $3.43.

The easiest path to deciding to buy new is under the “concerned about safety” category. Old car doesn’t have electronic stability control? Bam, go right to “buy a new car.” Have stability control but really want the latest safety gadgets and electronics, too? Bang, right to “buy a new car.”

But keep in mind that a “new car” to you, in many cases, could mean a newer used car with the safety tech you want.

If you simply “want more features,” you might do as well upgrading your phone, instead, to get, say, navigation, rather than buying a whole new car with navi.

Or buy a stand-alone aftermarket navi and get a few other modern features in the bargain. A number of add-on navi systems in the $200 to $400 range also could add a desired Bluetooth connection and voice control, so you can use your phone in hands-free fashion.

In a Garmin navigation unit, for example, you’d say, “Voice command,” then, for instance, “Call my bookie.” The call is made by the phone, and the sound is routed through the navi speakers. No need to pick up your phone, or wear headphones. That could be very handy in states that prohibit all but hands-free use while driving.

You need to put up with the often-awkward dashboard mat or suction-cup mounting of aftermarket navi systems, but you’ll likely have spent less than a month’s payment.

Not part of the logical decision tree is another factor, however. Maybe you are just tired of you current car. Or have been disappointed. Or, as it turns out, you just plain hate it.

One of the most startling features in the CR auto report is a list of models car owners responding to its annual survey say they’ve found satisfying — or unsatisfying. Surprisingly, many of the favorites don’t correlate with the lists of cars with fewest problems or highest road test score.

Glaring example: Fiat brand winds up in the reliability dust bins of CR ‘s and other arm’s-length studies, but owners say they just love their Fiat 500s and definitely would buy them again.

CR ‘s comprehensive report card shows Fiat is the worst brand overall, combining road-test and reliability scores. And the latest J.D. Power long-term vehicle dependability survey, published Wednesday, likewise shows Fiat at the bottom. And owners love ’em.

An example in the other direction is the Acura RLX, the new-design flagship from a brand that’s typically above average in the third-party surveys — 11th of 28 brands in the CR standings, 12th of 31 in the Power dependability chart — was the least satisfying midsize luxury car, according to owners responding to the CR survey.

The ratings evoke the cliché, “Seemed like a good idea at the time.” It’s a warning that buying solely, or largely, on reliability scores might leave you in a few years with a car you don’t really like, but can’t justify dumping because the vehicle is so trouble-free.

“No joy,” as military pilots say when they don’t see the expected target.

Autos.com editors have compiled the most extensive rating database on the internet, drawing upon $20 million of automotive research from CarsDirect and Autodata, and summarizing expert opinion from an extensive group of the leading third party sources. Here is a brief overview of how we do it:

Professional Reviews Ranking: Autos.com editors analyze car reviews from a range of magazines and websites, distill each down to a quantifiable ranking and then average those rankings to arrive at the Professional Review Rank.

Other Rankings: Autos.com also ranks vehicles based on criteria such as fuel efficiency, cargo capacity, and comfort and convenience features. You can see some of the data that we have used to rate each vehicle in any given category by expanding the category header on the vehicle detail page. For example, click on the arrow next to “Passenger Space” on the Honda Civic detail page to see the actual measurements for that vehicle’s interior. These measurements were stacked up against the interior measurements of all the other vehicles in the compact car segment in order to calculate the Honda Civic’s rating in the Passenger Space category. That rating is then used to determine the Honda Civic’s overall ranking in the compact car category.

Second-hand cars in the UK – things you auto-know!

We Brits love our cars; whether for commuting, running the family around or just to polish at the weekends.

And did you know that Gumtree listed over 4 million car adverts last year? Whether you’re buying or selling a car, why not head over to the cars section  to try it for yourself?

To kick off the new year, we have had a look at our wealth of data and wanted to share the car buying and selling trends we saw in 2013.

Last year, our users made over 36 million searches on the site to find their perfect motor.

The most popular makes searched for were:

Vauxhall

Ford

Volkswagen

Audi

Honda

The single most popular model searched for was the Vauxhall Corsa; followed by the Volkswagen Golf and then the Vauxhall Astra.

So, who is selling on Gumtree? Overall, 72% of adverts were from private sellers, with 28% from dealers.

There were over 60 different makes of car listed, including everything from Ferraris, Maseratis and Aston Martins all the way through to 20 Robin Reliants!

The most expensive listed car listed on Gumtree was an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish for a whooping £158,500! However, a Rover 75 diesel, listed at £299, received a record 677 replies in only 38 days!

If you are looking to buy a new second-hand car, the best time to be searching is September and October, as these are the months that see the most ads posted.

Which Vehicle History Report Is Right for You?

1 of 4

You’re shopping for a used car and you think you’ve hit pay dirt. The car is only five years old, with low miles and a great price. You’re about to make an offer when you have a troubling thought: Is the seller hiding any problems? Was the car ever in an accident? Who owned it before this seller?

Years ago buyers could only judge a used car by inspecting its mechanical condition and maybe leafing through the owner’s file of service records. But thanks to improved record collection combined with the power of the Internet, the vehicle identification number (VIN) can reveal if a used car has a checkered past. Experts describe the VIN as a car’s DNA.

Car buyers can purchase vehicle history reports from a number of different companies, some of which even concentrate on specialty markets such as trucks. The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) lists a number of the companies that provide its vehicle history reports, some of which cost only a few dollars.

NMVTIS provides title information drawn from participating state motor vehicle registries. At this point, 88 percent of U.S. DMV data is represented. Run by the federal Department of Justice, the system is the only one that’s publicly available in the U.S. to which all insurance carriers, auto recyclers, junk yards and salvage yards are required under federal law to report on a regular basis.

However, companies such as AutoCheck. which is owned by Experian, and Carfax. which pioneered the process in 1986 by faxing reports to customers, provide more detailed reports.

Most vehicle history report companies work in a similar way. A used-car shopper types a VIN into the company’s Web site and immediately receives a report on the vehicle’s history. Most companies sell either a single report for a set fee or, for a higher price, a subscription to run multiple reports for a limited time, which is usually a month.

A vehicle history report provides information drawn from an ever-expanding variety of databases. Most importantly, the report tells shoppers if a car has a “branded” title. Branding means an insurance company has declared the vehicle a total loss and given it a salvage title because of an accident, flood damage or other catastrophic event.

Typically, the information on a vehicle history report includes a summary and an overall evaluation of the vehicle supported with details, dates and locations. The report makes it easy to see if the car has been registered in numerous states. Other information can include a description of the vehicle, number of previous owners, accident information, verification of recent mileage (which could include an alert for odometer rollback) and lemon and recall checks.

Some vehicle history report companies provide additional features or information. For example, AutoCheck provides a vehicle “score” a number and a range like 85 out of a range of 60-90. This shows how the vehicle compares to other similar cars built that year. Carfax reports sometimes have information other vehicle history reports don’t list, such as service department records.

The mileage verification that a vehicle history report provides is especially important for buyers. Mechanics record the mileage each time there is a smog check, change of registration or other event in the vehicle’s history. If the mileage recordings are not sequential, meaning that they get higher each time, it could mean someone rolled back the odometer.

Although it’s illegal, a quick trip to a “spinner,” who is someone who turns back odometers, could be worthwhile for an unethical seller. Turning back an odometer 10,000 miles can increase the sale price of a typical car by at least $600. And contrary to popular belief, it’s easier to roll back a digital odometer than it is a mechanical one.

Test-Driving Vehicle History Reports

The editors at Edmunds.com have extensive experience using vehicle history reports. That’s because we steadily buy used cars for our long-term test fleet. Additionally, as a test, the editors run vehicle history reports on cars known to have salvage titles to see what comes up. In nearly all cases, vehicle history reports from AutoCheck and Carfax have caught those problems and flagged the pertinent information. (NMVTIS wasn’t fully up and running at the time of our tests.)

For example, we entered the VIN for a 1998 Corvette, which we knew had a lemon title. Sure enough, the vehicle history reports clearly flagged the problem by stating: “LEMON LAW VEHICLE. Repurchased by manufacturer.”

In another case, an Edmunds employee’s husband was about to buy a 1995 Acura. He test-drove the car and felt it was in good mechanical condition. However, a vehicle history report showed the car received a salvage title in 1996. When the seller was confronted with this information, he said, “Oh yeah, I thought I told you about that.”

In yet another case, a vehicle history report for a test car listed an “accident involving left side impact with another motor vehicle.” Apparently the accident was serious enough to report to authorities, but did not result in a salvage title. However, the report would show potential buyers that the car was in an accident. They could then check to see if the owner had properly repaired the damage.

As our informal tests showed, there are few major title or damage problems that slip through the vehicle history net.

“Occasionally, we do hear of a false positive on a vehicle history report, but it is rarely a problem,” says John Van Alst, an attorney with the National Consumer Law Center. a nonprofit organization specializing in consumer issues. A false positive is when the report came back clean when, in fact, there was an accident or the omission of other pertinent information. Some vehicle history report services will buy back a car or provide a guarantee in such cases.

However, there is a time lag between when an event such as an accident occurs and when it is reported, Van Alst says. While going to NMVTIS is an “excellent first step,” Van Alst still recommends car buyers take a vehicle to a mechanic and a body shop for inspection.

How To Use Vehicle History Reports

Vehicle history reports alert buyers to hidden problems with used cars for sale and can save them time when they’re shopping, too. Edmunds.com recommends that consumers buy a subscription for one of the services as soon as they start the shopping cycle. Always run the vehicle history report before calling the owner and especially before driving across town to see the car in person. In most cases, online car ads will include the vehicle’s VIN. Sometimes an advertised car will come with free access to its vehicle history report.

Also, keep in mind that dealers have subscriptions to the large vehicle history report services usually either AutoCheck or Carfax and will run a report for interested buyers. This becomes a valuable source of third-party information. If the dealer refuses to run a vehicle history report, or provides an outdated report, this could be a red flag.

Finally, keep in mind that a vehicle history report is only one step in the used-car buying process. A mechanical inspection is still a good idea. But running a report is a valuable first step that will save you time and money. And it could protect you from buying a car with a checkered past.

Calculate Your Car Loan Payments Before You Decide on a Car

If you’re in the market for a new car (or even a used car that you can’t afford to buy with cash), you’re probably also in the market for a car loan. While car loans are usually much smaller than mortgages and home equity loans, the auto loan payments can still take a decent-sized bite out of your monthly household budget.

You therefore need to do your research in order to find the most affordable car loan with the most desirable payment terms. As part of that research, you’ll want to estimate what your monthly payments will be for various loan amounts at different interest rates.

Regardless of where the financing for your automobile purchase ultimately comes from, your credit scores will factor heavily into the interest rate you pay on your car loan. Much like mortgage brokers, car dealers need to ensure that loan applicants are ready, willing, and able to pay off a line of credit, so if you want to get financing through a car dealer, their loan department is going to run a credit check on you. That means checking out your credit reports and scores from at least one of the three major credit bureaus.

Car dealers find themselves in an interesting spot these days. They need to sell cars to stay in business, but their customers typically require loans to afford car purchases, and the consumer credit industry is still much tighter than it was before the Great Recession occurred.

Because of this dynamic, car dealers may be more willing to provide financing to consumers with poor credit scores than banks might be, but the basic lenders’ rule-of-thumb still applies: The lower your credit score is, the higher your interest rate will be and the bigger your monthly auto loan payments will be.

(Keep in mind that there’s another dynamic at play when you take out a loan of any kind. Your record of making, missing, or remitting late payments on that loan will appear on your credit report and factor into your credit score. Missed or delinquent auto loan payments can quickly drag down your credit score, which can affect your ability to renegotiate your car loan or acquire another line of credit.)

There are, of course, factors beyond your credit scores that help determine the ultimate amount of your monthly auto loan payments, including:

  • Dealer or manufacturer rebates. Rebates are usually offered at the end of a model year, when car dealers and carmakers try to reduce their inventory of unsold cars.
  • Trade-in allowances. Car dealers generally put a cap on how much they’re willing to reduce the selling price of a car when you trade in your current vehicle.
  • Your outstanding trade-in balance. If you’re trading in a car to the dealership where you originally bought it, and you still owe money on that car, the dealer will factor that amount into your loan application.
  • The size of your down payment. Obviously, the more money you put down upfront, the less you’ll need to borrow. Smaller car loans often mean better loan terms, because the lender’s risk is reduced.
  • Gap insurance. Gap insurance is typically required when a buyer offers little or nothing in the way of a down payment, especially if the buyer has poor credit. This insurance also protects the buyer, though; if your newly-bought car is totaled due to an accident, flood, or other calamity, you won’t be on the hook for the outstanding auto loan payments. If you finance through a dealership, any required gap insurance premiums are typically included in your monthly payments.
  • The loan term. Auto loans typically require full repayment within three to five years.
  • Your interest rate. As noted earlier, your credit scores will be used to determine the general range of your interest rate, but the factors listed above will also play a role.
  • Regardless of where you finance your car purchase, negotiating a car loan and determining your auto loan payments can be a complicated undertaking. Before you choose your next car, much less apply for a car loan, you should make every effort to estimate your auto payments as accurately as possible to help you determine how much you can afford to spend on your car purchase.

FreeScore ‘s Auto Loan Calculator below can help you estimate your monthly auto loan payments. Through the calculator, you can enter any and all of the applicable information listed above to figure out how much you’ll end up paying for a car loan, including the total amount of interest you’ll pay over the life of the loan.

    Topics covered

Auto/vehicle insurance is where you pay a regular premium and the insurer compensates you for any financial loss that occurs if you get involved in an accident.

Your basic policy should cover the following:

    • Bodily Injury Liability. This provides protection if the driver, policyholder, or the policyholder’s family member causes bodily injury to someone else.
    • Personal Injury Protection (PIP). If the passengers and driver of the policy holder’s vehicle are injured, PIP covers the cost of treatment and may also cover lost wages, cost of replacing services, and funeral costs. Search the internet for best auto insurance rates.
    • Property Damage Liability. If you or someone else permitted to drive your car damages others’ property, this coverage will protect you. When you look for free auto insurance quotes, make sure you will be covered under the Property Damage Liability coverage.
    • Collision coverage. This compensates for damage to the policy holder’s car as a result of collision with another car. Even if you are at fault, this term will cover the cost of repair to your car minus the deductible. If you are not at fault, then your insurer will try to recover the cost from the other driver’s insurer.
    • Comprehensive Coverage. Many of you may be asking yourselves “What is comprehensive auto insurance protection?”. If you suffer a loss due to theft or a damage caused by something other than a collision, like a fire, explosion, earthquake, or windstorm, then this protects you.
    • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM). Individuals who buy cheap car insurance are often underinsured and do not have enough money to pay for losses if they are involved in an accident. If an uninsured, underinsured, or hit-and-run driver hits you or your family member, this term will reimburse the cost of your damages. You will also be protected if you are hit as a pedestrian. When you buy car insurance compare quotes for UM/UIM coverage from different companies.

What are the benefits of buying auto insurance online?

With many companies offering online auto insurance quotes, it is easier for you to research the policies, terms, and conditions and compare them. You can also check the company’s auto insurance reviews to make the best choice.

Here are 4 benefits you can get if you buy auto insurance coverage online:

    • Easier research: The internet allows you to do extensive research on various companies without having to visit each company. You can easily find the cheapest legal auto insurance online to suit your budget.
    • 24/7 service: This is the best part about looking for information online; you can find information when you need it.
    • Manage a policy: You can manage your policy, print out proof of coverage, and view/ manage your bill online.
    • Claim: You can even file a claim online and follow it up online.

Which factors influence your auto insurance rates?

When you apply for an auto insurance coverage, the company sends over your application to the underwriters. The underwriters evaluate the level of risk associated with an applicant, and accordingly approve and fix his/her rate or reject the application. The factors which are usually considered for the auto insurance underwriting process are:

    1. Age and gender of the driver
    2. Driving records/ history of the one to be insured
    3. Prior claims history
    4. Efficiency of the driver (driving education )
    5. Model, make and type of the vehicle
    6. Age of the vehicle
    7. Mileage of the vehicle
    8. Location (where it’ll be used )
    9. Purpose for which the vehicle is used (work, personal, pleasure or commercial etc. )
    10. How the vehicle is garaged
    11. Your choice of deductible, limits of coverage and benefits
    12. Auto insurance score

Converting to a low cost policy

Discount auto insurance schemes can help you convert your basic policy into a low cost auto insurance policy. You can find many cheap auto insurance quotes that will allow you to save money and provide adequate coverage. Take a look at few of the ways to save money.

    1. Safety measures. A few insurers offer discounts for safety measures like anti-lock brakes on used cars.
    2. Multiple policy rates. Some of the bigger insurance companies that provide different types of insurance offer “bundle” rates if you buy several kinds of insurance, like life insurance and homeowner’s insurance in addition to your car insurance.
    3. Safe driver’s discount. In many cases, insurers offer a safe driver’s discount if you go for a certain period without a ticket or accident, usually 3 years.
    4. Renewal discount. If you have been with an insurer for a long time, they might offer a renewal discount to get you to continue your current coverage.
    5. Discounts for students. If you are a student, unmarried, under the age of 25 years, and you meet the grade requirements, you may get cheap auto insurance.
    6. Choosing a higher deductible. If you choose a higher deductable, your premium payment will be less, but you will have to pay more if you have an accident.
    7. Type of car. The type of vehicle you buy is a factor your insurance agent uses to determine your auto insurance premium rate. The quotes you get for an expensive car will be higher than for a more standard car. The age and size of your car also determines how high your premium is.
    8. Good credit history. Maintaining good credit history may also entitle you to certain discounts.
    9. Low mileage discounts. Some companies may also offer certain percentage of discounts to individuals who drive less than the average number of miles each year. If you are one of them, then you may also get this privilege.

Apart from the above, there are other ways to maximize your auto insurance benefits while minimizing costs. Learn more.

Will your premium go up after you file a claim?

Every insurer will increase the amount of your premium if you are involved in an accident. The increase is decided by the auto insurance company you purchased your policy from.

If you have a bad driving record, your motor insurance company may refuse to renew your policy and varies from one company to another. Accidents caused by drunk driving are more likely to result in a non-renewal of your policy.

If you decide not to inform your insurer about a minor accident, it may cause problems later. If you get sued by the other driver, your auto policy provider might not cover you because of the time lapse. Even if the claim is not refused, it will be harder to find evidence to support your case.

No one can predict when they will get into an accident. Investing in automobile insurance, protects you and your family during accidents and from losing your license for driving without insurance.

    Car Sales Techniques

10 Tips to Help you Sell More Cars

Make Sure you Check out our Car Sales Assistant 12 App!

I have a couple of new salespeople at the dealership.

When I got in the car business almost 18 years ago, I was thrown to the dogs. I had no worth-while training, the only close I learned was “If I could, Would You. “, my only technique was selling on price and quite frankly, I SUCKED! Later, I moved back to Michigan and had a great manager that took me under his wing and taught me a few good techniques. I am going to share some of these with you.

Tip #1: Stay Away from Negative Salespeople, Huddles, etc!

I can’t stress this enough. There is a type of salesperson in the car business that I call an Old Timer. They think they know everything, they don’t want to learn new things, they are average (or below average) salespeople and they take great fun out of bringing new salespeople down to their weak level. Every dealership I have ever worked in has at least one. Hell, I have even been one before! LOL

They never give good advice and if they try, they lack the skills to even know what they are talking about. They are good at making excuses as to why things are bad instead of learning/trying new things to sell more cars. They get jealous when a new guy knocks a “home run” and claim that other salespeople are outselling them because “they get all the house deals!” They are poison to a new car salesperson. Stay away from them! Avoid them like the plague.

Tip #2: Use a Great Greeting!

Bad greetings include, “Can I help you?” or “Can I get someone for you?” or the ever popular, “Can I help you OR get someone for you?” That was my greeting for my first 7 years in the car business and I am convinced that it cost me enough to pay cash for a new house. Seriously!

What, you may ask, is wrong with this greeting? You see all the old timers using it! Well, it is easy to create a “reflex objection” buy starting off with a yes/no question. Someone may answer, “I’m just looking.”

The greeting you should use: “Welcome to ABC Motors. I’m (your name) and you are. “

Walk into a “Moe’s” one day where everyone yells, “Welcome to Moe’s!” Walk into a department store when someone says, “Welcome to JC Penny.” What comes out of your mouth? Not “I’m just looking” but rather “thanks!”

A good greeting is very important and will start the sale off right by allowing you to get control early-on. It will also make your customer feel welcome and appreciated.

    Tip #3: Do a T.O. (Turn Over)!

The SSAE 18 Reporting Standard SOC 1 SOC 2 SOC 3 Support and Guidance for SSAE18, SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3 reporting standards

Some organizations have heard of SAS 70, SSAE 16. and soon to be SSAE 18. but, don t really know WHY they need to pay to have a bunch of auditors trounce through their company for a month or two during the year, especially right after their financial audit just finished.
The answer is simple: Many companies will not even think about using your company to perform services for them without a clean Type II Report in place.
Some benefits of having an SSAE 16 performed :

    • Ability to perform outsourcing services for Public Companies.
      • If performing financially significant duties for a Public Company, they are required to use a SSAE 16 qualified provider as it is the only way to give investors assurance over controls that are not performed by the Company in question.
    • Public and Private companies are more likely to trust your organization with their data.
      • If you were to trust a company with your data, you would want complete assurance it will be handled with the utmost care
    • A year round accessible knowledge source (your auditors).
      • As a service organization, large or small, you will always have questions regarding your business and having a set of auditors in place with access to a wide array of business knowledge, it will allow you to bounce your questions and concerns off of a group of trusted individuals.
    • A third party to review your controls and activities to ensure they are functioning appropriately, and give advice on how to improve upon them.
      • Sometimes your internal audit department is good, but, not always as stringent as they should be. This will help to serve as a check on their work, as well as your staff. Additionally, if there were any findings noted, your auditors are in a great position to give you some tricks and tips to improve to ensure everything functions well the following period.
    • Improving performance of the organization.
      • Just the knowledge that a review is being performed of an employee s work that can have far reaching consequences for the company as a whole. No more, Oh, I didn t realize that reviewing user access was THAT important to do this month, sorry , now, everyone knows that if it s not done, the success or failure of the organization could rest upon them.

Think of the SSAE 16 or SSAE-18 audit as an annual investment into your company, increasing potential new clients. productivity and accountability .

This tip is focused on designing controls that reflect the process being testing, if they don t, a headache of massive proportions will be created once testing begins.
What do you do to make sure you don t screw this up? Have as many meetings as it takes to get it right.
What you need to do is sit down with the auditors, the department lead, the main employees responsible for performing the process, and anyone else whom could either play a role in testing or modifying the control in the future. Once that is done, Management should discuss what they determined the control to be and how it should operate, that is then reviewed by the auditors, and then the employees performing the tasks should be reconsulted to verify that the control still reflects their process accurately.
Many times people try to speed this process up and half-ass it, leaving many open items which upon testing could easily blow up into a huge problem. When the control isn t 100% agreed upon prior to testing and a deviation is noted, it s a tough call between failing the control and the ability to adjust it to accurately reflect the process. The problem is modifying a control after testing has begun is not proper and needs to be avoided at all costs.
Locking the controls locked down early on could save weeks in wrapping up your new SSAE 16 Report.
We have seen issues like this cause delays in issuing of the report to the client and running additional fees, since adjusting controls isn t free. Coming from the perspective of the auditor, we can let you know the pitfalls, consequences and how to best navigate the audit process. If you have any comments or questions please leave them below!

A SOC 1 Report (System and Organization Controls Report ) is a report on Controls at a Service Organization which are relevant to user entities’ internal control over financial reporting. The SOC1 Report is what you would have previously considered to be the standard SAS70, complete with a Type I and Type II reports, but falls under the SSAE 16 guidance (and soon to be SSAE 18 ).

Please see the following articles discussing the SSAE 16 guidance and additional information related to the SOC 1 (Type I and Type II) Reports:

In addition to the SOC 1 report which is restricted to controls relevant to an audit of a user entity’s financial statements, the SOC 2 and SOC 3 reports have been created to address controls relevant to operations and compliance and will be discussed in further detail in the future.

Please see the SOC 1 Reporting Guide page for additional information.

SSAE 16 is an enhancement to the current standard for Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization, the SAS70. The changes made to the standard will bring your company, and the rest of the companies in the US, up to date with new international service organization reporting standards, the ISAE 3402. The adjustments made from SAS 70 to SSAE 16 will help you and your counterparts in the US compete on an international level; allowing companies around the world to give you their business with complete confidence .

SSAE16 is now effective as of June 15, 2011, and if you have not made the necessary adjustments required, now is the time to find a quality provider to discuss the proper steps. All organizations are now required to issue their Service Auditor Reports under the SSAE 16 standards in an SOC 1 Report.

The soon to be effective, SSAE-18. is expected to follow a similar reporting structure to the SSAE-16 within a SOC 1 report.

Who Needs an SSAE 16 (SOC 1 ) Audit?

If your Company (the Service Organization ) performs outsourced services that affect the financial statements of another Company (the User Organization ), you will more than likely be asked to provide an SSAE16 Type II Report, especially if the User Organization is publicly traded.
    Some example industries include:

    • Payroll Processing
    • Loan Servicing
    • Data Center /Co-Location/Network Monitoring Services
    • Software as a Service (SaaS )
    • Medical Claims Processors

    What you Need to Know:

Before starting the SSAE 16 process, there are a number of considerations one must take into account that can save considerable time, effort, and money in the long run. Use the following items as a mini checklist for yourself:

    • Does my Company need an SSAE16, or, are we doing it just because someone asked?
    • Reports on the low end can run at least $15,000 a year, will the business lost be less of a burden than the cost of the report itself?
    • Does your company have defined Business Process and IT controls in place, or, will you need assistance developing and implementing them (readiness assessment)?
    • Have you determined the controls in place which affect the outsourced services being provided?
    • Have key stakeholders been defined and included in discussions?

There are many other issues to consider before engaging a CPA firm to help with your SSAE 16, for a more detailed checklist please see The SSAE 16 Checklist

You may have heard SSAE-18 is on the horizon for reports issued as of May 1, 2017. There are some important updates discussed in here: SSAE-18 An Update to SSAE-16 .

As the standard is formalized and the date approaches we will continue to provide more information to help you prepare for these changes.

Bankrupt Illinois To Be Broken Up And Dissolved Into Neighbor States

The liberal state of Illinois is grappling with a full-fledged financial crisis and the only answer is to declare bankruptcy, break up the state and dissolve it into neighboring states, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Facing billions in unpaid bills and pension obligations, the state is hitting a cash crunch that is rare even by liberal Illinois standards, Gov. Bruce Rauner warning the state has entered banana republic territory.

We’re like a banana republic ,” Rauner said earlier this month, after the General Assembly failed, for the umpteenth time, to pass a budget package by the regular session deadline. “We can’t manage our money.”

But the problems are years in the making, caused in large in part by the state’s long-term liberal policies — which led Moody’s Investors Services to downgrade Illinois credit rating to the lowest of any state.

Illinois is like Venezuela now, a fiscally broken state that has lost its will to live , according to the Chicago Tribune.

But before we run out of the essentials, let s finally admit that after decade upon decade of taxing and spending and borrowing, Illinois has finally run out of other people s money .

The best thing to do is to break Illinois into pieces right now. Just wipe us off the map. Cut us out of America s heartland and let neighboring states carve us up and take the best chunks for themselves.

The group that will scream the loudest is the state s political class, who did this to us, and the big bond creditors, who are whispering talk of bankruptcy and asset forfeiture to save their own skins .

Since our neighboring states are doing better, taking Illinois jobs and businesses and Illinois workers and taxpaying families, they might as well just take the rest of Illinois, too, dammit.

Wisconsin can have Chicago and begin calling it South Milwaukee.

Reports have suggested the state could be the first to attempt to declare Chapter 9 bankruptcy but under the law, that’s impossible unless Congress gets involved.

U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, both Democrats from Illinois, have so far refused requests for comment on whether they would consider getting involved in introducing a measure allowing state bankruptcy.

Illinois is the fiscal model of what not to do ,” Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill. told Fox News, while not commenting on the bankruptcy question. “This avoidance in behavior toward dealing with our challenges is what leads to the devastating impacts we are seeing today.

SOUND LIKE TWO CHARACTERS OUT OF A simpsons episode .only in america huh. only in stupid is as stupid does america no wonder it is going to be nuked its been a long time coming this state is only the tip of the iceberg hafukenha

Nuked? Only if from within, no country is crazy enough to commit suicide in an attempt at that. And God forbid the U.S. collapses, that s a shit ton of world ending weaponry on the loose. Europe and half of Asia would fall. Then Evil returns.

He doesn t care in fact, his moniker implies that s what he wishes. He s a hater of our nation.

We don t want their stupid voters to have any say in our economic policies. The ignorant self entitled voter broke it, now you live with it and sacrifice work twice as hard and fix it for your grandchildren. You already mortgaged your children s futures by taking more than you put in. No thank you we don t want any broken pieces of a state infected with Obama-itis.

Whomever gets Chicago gets the vast majority of Illinois self-centered, vote to steal from others group. Unfortunately, virtually every large city is predominantly composed of such lost souls.

let this state be a test to see what happens, first move is to stop paying all elected officials and there healthcare, they are the first ones to be chopped, then government workers and the benefits and since they are broke, loose it all so they now can use social security for retirement like everyone else. Let all government follow this role when they had busted the system with the payroll, benefits and other perks they have stolen from tax payers

Break up a state? First of all someone did not learn ANYTHING in civics! This will not happen. States cannot just Evaporate into others! Anyone touting this is a RUBE and they KNOW NOTHING! The way our territorial law is written YOU CANNOT SUBDIVIDE A STATE! Whoever is spouting this line needs to STFU already!

I am calling this for the BULL***T it is!

A New Technique for Obtaining Clues from Unsolved Crimes

In 1981, when Psychic Investigator Noreen Renier first lectured at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, her work with police detectives was considered controversial. Now, she is a well-known psychic detective who has worked on over 600 unsolved cases with city, county, and state Law Enforcement Agencies in 38 states and 6 foreign countries. She has a unique understanding of both the police and the paranorma

Noreen Renier has often stated a Psychic Detective should be called into an investigation as a last resort, when traditional methods have been exhausted. It’s possible that Psychic Investigator Noreen Renier has a key for re-opening your dead-end cases.

She has an impressive track record and uncanny success in finding missing persons. Perhaps Psychic Detective Noreen Renier can help you find new leads for your unsolved cases. It is possible that the information she picks up could provide clues, or a different angle to your unsolved crime.

    Quotes and Testimonials

Remarkably, the lost man’s body was found EXACTLY where Renier said it would be! People scoffed at us for seeking out a psychic’s help, but Noreen’s input was quite incredible. even a bit spooky.

Introducing: The Email Template That ll Get You a Meeting With Anyone You Ask

I’ve had the best time reading my email lately. Trust me, I know that’s a pretty rare thing to say—it’s just that I’ve been asking tons of awesome people to go on informational interviews with me, and they’ve almost all said yes.

Wondering how to score some sweet informational interviews of your own? I know, asking can be hard—after all, you’re proposing that busy and important strangers take time out of their schedules to meet with you.

Luckily for you, I’ve recently perfected the art of the ask. And since this information is so valuable, I’ll obviously share it. Plus, I’ll explain how to tailor the email to make it your own. Before you know it, you’ll love scrolling through your Gmail as well.

    The Template

    Dear [first name],

My name is [your name], and I’m a [job title] who works in [your location]. I’m reaching out because [reason why you want to speak with this person]. I’d love to learn more about [two or three things you’d like to learn from the person].

I’m sure you’re busy, so even 20 minutes would be appreciated.

    An Example

Here’s what that looks like once you’ve filled it in:

My name is Aja Frost, and I’m a college student who’s interning in the city until mid-August. Your career path is very inspirational to me: I don’t know very many people who have worked in marketing at Google, Facebook, and Apple. As an aspiring marketer, I’d love to learn more about which skills you’ve used the most and what you’d expect from an entry-level employee in your department.

I’m sure you’re busy, so even 20 minutes would be greatly appreciated.

    The Breakdown

Let’s do a line-by-line analysis so you can see what each accomplishes.

In the salutation, I like to use the person’s first name. “Dear Jane Doe” or “Dear Ms. Doe” sounds too stilted and formal to me.

The opening line should contextualize your message. Since I’m a student, I have a built-in advantage—professionals are usually pretty open to helping out the young and inexperienced. But, hearing from someone a little higher up can be really flattering, too—so no matter where you are on the corporate ladder, include your job title, employer, and location.

My name is Carrie Smith, and I’m a senior product manager at Unison Healthcare in Tampa, Florida.

The next line should explain why you’re writing to him or her. Go ahead and make it flattering. While I’m not suggesting you lay it on really thick, there’s got to be a reason you chose this specific person, so include it.

    I’ve previously said:

“You have my dream job at my dream company. ” and “I was impressed to see the transition you made from finance to content strategy. ”

After that, you’ll want to include some very specific questions. Too many people show up to informational interviews with no idea what to ask, resulting in wasted time for all parties involved. If people see you’ve got a concrete goal for the meeting, they’ll be much more likely to say yes.

I always, always end with the same line: “I’m sure you’re busy, so. ” This statement shows you know you’re requesting a big favor. And just acknowledging that fact improves your chances for success.

    The Extra Mile

You should definitely research people before you ask them to interviews. Not only will knowing their backgrounds help during the actual conversation, but you’ll usually find tidbits you can drop into your ask to make it more compelling. After scrolling through a CEO’s recent Twitter history, I found a post raving about a Brooklyn taco spot. When I asked her to meet me, I proposed going to that very taco spot. She agreed with far more enthusiasm than she likely would’ve if I’d asked her to meet at Starbucks.

On a different occasion, I saw a content strategist I was interested in contacting had spoken on a panel about inbound marketing. So in that email, I wrote, “I’d love to learn more about inbound marketing best practices and how to use location-specific strategies.”

By making a little extra effort, your request will be much more impressive.

    The Follow-Up

Best case scenario: Your target answers, you make plans to get coffee, and you have an awesome and productive conversation. But what if he or she doesn’t answer? I usually wait a week, then send a follow-up email.

    Dear [his or her name],

I hope you’re having a great week! I wanted to follow up on my request for an informational interview. As I explained in my previous email, [reason why this person has impressed you] and I’d love to hear about [questions you’d like to ask]. I’m happy to meet whenever and wherever is convenient for you. However, if your schedule is too full, I completely understand.

You’d be shocked at the number of people who don’t respond to your first query but do get back to you after the second. What I’ve learned from that is that most people aren’t ignoring you, the first email just arrived at an inopportune time to answer and was then forgotten.

However, if you’ve sent the second email and you still hear nothing, move on to your next prospect. There are plenty of people who will talk to you, so don’t spend too much energy chasing down one person.

After you’ve taken my template and made it your own, I’m confident you’ll be going on tons of coffee dates of your own. Good luck!

    10 Signs of Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is comprised of lymph nodes, the thymus gland, and bone marrow; all of which help make up our immune system. Lymphoma attacks lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that helps protect the body.

There are two main categories of lymphoma: Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). Both attack the lymphatic system, but each has a different treatment plan and prognosis. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is very rare and only accounts for 10% of the diagnosed cases of lymphoma.

The disease is characterized by the presence of an atypical cell called the Reed-Sternberg cell. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the most treatable form of cancer. Still, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma has a much better prognosis than it once did, with a 71.4% recovery rate. The symptoms of both types of lymphoma are often missed at first, because they are so similar to other, less serious disorders.

As with any illness, early detection is key to gain a diagnosis and effective treatment plan; but it is all about tuning into the warning signs of this disease, and booking a visit to your doctor for assessment. Therefore, below are the 10 most common symptoms of lymphoma to look out for.

    1. Enlarged Lymph Nodes

The most common symptom of lymphoma is enlarged lymph nodes. Lymph nodes can be found throughout the body. They are a part of the lymphatic system that filters lymph fluid, trapping bacteria, which will later be destroyed by lymphocytes. Under normal circumstances, they cannot be felt, but certain lymph nodes that are located closest to the skin can be felt as small lumps when they are enlarged. The areas that are most noticeable when they are swollen include the lymph nodes located on the sides of the neck, the underarm region, the groin, or directly above the collar bone. It’s important to note that enlarged lymph nodes do not necessarily mean that you have lymphoma, and are more commonly a sign of infection. Still, if you or a loved one notice enlarged lymph nodes, a visit to the doctor is highly recommended.

Are You A Victim of ETT (Email Template Theft)?

    Are you stealing email templates?

A n alarming trend has arisen on the Internet side of automotive sales and it is called Email Template Theft (ETT for short). This may be happening to your dealerships Internet sales team right now or your team could even be the guilty party.

Have you ever received an Internet lead who never responded and just seemed downright suspicious?

Could these leads have been submitted by your local competition?

As an Internet Director, it certainly happened to me. This was confirmed after time had passed when I shopped my competition then noticed startling similarities between their email templates and that of my own.

At first I was furious to the point that I wanted to start a blog and call them out online for all the Internet shopping world to see. Furious to the point that I wanted to purchase a ninja suit then sneak on to their lot during the middle of the night and put my dealership s license plate frames on all of their cars.

Unfortunately, neither of these options would have helped the situation or my own credibility. It took a while (meaning a few days in the car business) to start asking myself the questions that would help me realize why this happened. Does ETT happen to everyone? Are my email templates simply that amazing or is someone out there just that lazy?

Truth be told, it was most likely the latter.

As it is today, the Internet sales side of the car business is evolving at a rapid pace. My best guess was that someone having never sold cars online was put in charge of running an Internet department or BDC in my market and they did what they had to do to get started, fake it until they made it.

After serving on the vendor side with a CRM provider it is sad to say the same activity is witnessed. We are routinely asked by dealership prospects to provide best practices from our top performing stores.

Can t you just copy the email templates and phone call scripts from [so and so] and put them into our account? We will change the name and everything…

Make no mistake that this is not good for you and it is certainly not helping your customers choose where to purchase a vehicle.

Sales 101 teaches us to set ourselves apart. When an Internet shopper submits a lead and the onslaught of emails they receive back are the same or similar enough to be perceived as the same, nobody wins. In fact, more harm is done than good.

In the age of price shopping and the demand for quick digital price quotes there are few options to retain anything resembling gross profit on the deal. We must build value, set ourselves apart and earn the gross we desire by allowing the customer to feel special and unique. How do we accomplish this?

First, stop using auto response emails. During the operating hours at the dealership we need to send personalized initial responses, period. These responses should not read We have received your request and someone will be getting back to you soon. After 15 or 30 minutes with no response, soon has lost it s creditability and so has your store. If you were the customer in that situation your next question would  likely be about the price of the vehicle.

Second, tell your personal story and that of the dealership through the messaging in your emails. Do not be afraid to get personal. For your customers that eventually do buy, you will likely know much about their personal life so why not break the ice online first? We do it in person and should be able to pull it off digitally with strong personalized emails.

If you have a family, talk about your family. This minivan has enough space in the back that even my 6 kids could fit with all their daily belongings. Mr. Customer, I understand that you are on a budget and my family is as well. It is important to think about the true cost of ownership over time with the next vehicle you purchase and I am here to help you understand what that entails.

The same goes for the dealership. Mention how long you have or have not been in business. Focus the spotlight on your store s distinct advantages and leverage them to earn an appointment.

Third, use video of yourself, the dealership and the vehicle. Take the time to record something for each customer since they will appreciate it even if they never tell you. When a shopper sees that you are dedicating your time to them specifically, even before they have entered the store, things will work in your favor.

Signs Your Body Is Too Tired to Go On (Even if You’re Not)

    Photo: Jade Copple

    1. You’re clicking your pen and tapping your feet.

What’s happening: When you move your muscles, you cue your brain to stay alert, says Hans P.A. Van Dongen, PhD, assistant director of the Sleep and Performance Research Center at Washington State University. So if you’re fidgety and restless and feel as if you you can’t sit still or would rather (always) stand, Van Dongen says that “it could be your brain’s way of trying to keep you awake.”

What else you should know: Fidgeting could also be a sign that you’ve had too much caffeine. The recommended daily limit is 500 to 600 mg, or about 4 cups drinking more than that is another less-than-subtle sign that you need more rest.

    2. You’re lapsing, you don’t know you’re lapsing and you don’t know even know what the heck lapsing is.

What’s happening: Lapsing, in technical terms, is when parts of your brain take a stealth catnap. When you’re exhausted, the sections that control attention and response time start taking breaks from processing new information, explains Van Dongen. These “mini-sleeps” could be as short as half a second, and you may not even notice that you’ve fallen into them.

What else you should know: Van Dongen suggests a lapsing test: Sit in a dark, quiet area while holding a pencil in one hand. Set a timer for 5 minutes, and just relax and breathe. If the pencil drops, that’s a clear sign you and your brain need more sleep.

    3. You’re having trouble swiping your office ID, balancing your coffee and making it through the door before it closes again.

What’s happening: This combination of simple tasks, done in sequence and under a time limit, is a fine test of your psychomotor skills and coordination, which are some of the first things to go when you skimp on shut-eye. In one 1997 study, researchers found that a person who has gone for even one night without sleep is about as impaired on early morning hand-eye coordination as someone who has a blood alcohol level of .10 percent, also known as legally drunk.

What else you should know: Sleep deprivation doesn’t have the same effect on the parts of your brain that handle critical reasoning. so even if you’re having trouble with appliances, you still may have no noticeable problem with writing a strategy memo or analyzing reports.

    4. You act like Mrs. Silly Pants at breakfast.

What’s happening: Your brain is having trouble telling you how to behave, so you’re more reactive to stimuli from your surroundings. The sun seems so bright and cheerful, the coffee tastes soooooo good and that cat going nuts with the empty cereal box is just hi-larious.

What else you should know: Staying on an even keel will be your big challenge today, says Van Dongen. Your mood will probably go from goofy to grouchy as soon as something doesn’t go your way.

    5. and you’re a hot, emotional mess for the rest of the day.

What’s happening: Watch out, coworkers, spouses and innocent bystanders: Weakened emotion-regulating systems in the prefrontal area of the brain may make it hard for you to control and express your feelings. For example, if someone criticizes you, it will upset you more than usual, says Van Dongen, and you’ll be more likely to say or do something you’ll regret. Research from William D.S. Killgore at Harvard Medical School also showed that two nights without adequate sleep was associated with a reduced tendency to think positively and a lack of willingness to take action to solve problems. “Thus, sleep-deprived individuals appear to be more easily frustrated, intolerant, unforgiving, less caring and more self-focused than when fully rested,” he wrote. In other words, you’re acting kind of jerky.

What else you should know: While caffeine may give you a shot of adrenaline, studies show it’s often ineffective at fixing the other emotional glitches brought on by sleeplessness.

    6. You’re craving carbs big time.

What’s happening: Research has shown that just one night of meager sleep lowers levels of the appetite-suppressing hormone leptin and boosts levels of hunger-increasing ghrelin. The body wakes up craving quick. easy energy. That choco-chunk muffin will do, thank you. Volunteers in one study at the University of Colorado at Boulder who got 4.5 hours (or less) of sleep also reported feeling more ravenous than those who got the magic 7 hours.

What else you should know: Eating breakfast within an hour or so of waking has been shown to increase alertness and improve cognitive performance. So embrace the carbs, but make sure they’re the slow-dose kind that won’t cause you to fizzle (steel-cut oatmeal is a great choice).

    7. You get a second wind at 9:30 p.m.

What’s happening: Your body is keeping you up for that last stretch of the evening so it can get you back into a rhythm, says Rafael Pelayo, MD, a sleep specialist at the Stanford University Sleep Medicine Center and an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral science. He says that what often happens is the patient who’s been running on empty will promise herself she’ll go to bed early. “Early” rolls around and she feels fine, so she keeps getting things done. but then ends up with only 6 hours of sleep (again). When she snoozes through her alarm, she tells herself everyone has trouble getting out of bed.

What else you should know: We fall into our deepest sleep during the two hours before our natural wakeup time, Pelayo says. So put down the to-do list and pick up the toothbrush: It’s still easier to force yourself to go to bed than to force yourself to wake up (starting with 15 minute increments can help).

    Transporting Firearms and Ammunition

You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be easily opened are not permitted. Be aware that the container the firearm was in when purchased may not adequately secure the firearm when it is transported in checked baggage.

Contact the TSA Contact Center with questions you have regarding TSA firearm regulations and for clarification on what you may or may not transport in your carry-on or checked baggage.

    Firearms

    • When traveling, comply with the laws concerning possession of firearms as they vary by local, state and international governments.
    • If you are traveling internationally with a firearm in checked baggage, please check the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website for information and requirements prior to travel.
    • Declare each firearm each time you present it for transport as checked baggage. Ask your airline about limitations or fees that may apply.
    • Firearms must be unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container and transported as checked baggage only. Only the passenger should retain the key or combination to the lock unless TSA personnel request the key to open the firearm container to ensure compliance with TSA regulations.
    • Firearm parts, including magazines, clips, bolts and firing pins, are prohibited in carry-on baggage, but may be transported in checked baggage.
    • Replica firearms, including firearm replicas that are toys, may be transported in checked baggage only.
    • Rifle scopes are permitted in carry-on and checked baggage.

United States Code, Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 44, firearm definitions includes: any weapon (including a starter gun) which will, or is designed to, or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; the frame or receiver of any such weapon; any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; and any destructive device. As defined by 49 CFR 1540.5 a loaded firearm has a live round of ammunition, or any component thereof, in the chamber or cylinder or in a magazine inserted in the firearm.

    Ammunition

    • Ammunition is prohibited in carry-on baggage, but may be transported in checked baggage.
    • Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be securely boxed or included within a hard-sided case containing an unloaded firearm. Read the requirements governing the transport of ammunition in checked baggage as defined by 49 CFR 175.10 (a)(8).
    • Small arms ammunition, including ammunition not exceeding .75 caliber and shotgun shells of any gauge, may be carried in the same hard-sided case as the firearm.

What Jobs can you get with a Nursing Degree?

You need a degree in nursing to qualify for various careers and jobs in the healthcare sector.

What Jobs can you get with a Nursing Degree?

Are you thinking of having a nursing degree and want to have a detailed note of the jobs you can get with it? If yes is your answer, then you are in luck today for finding this page.

This post shows you what you can do after completing a nursing degree; it details the jobs for each degree level – Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degree – and also provides the salary to expect on the jobs.

    About the Nursing Career

A nursing career is one of the few jobs with an unwavering demand in the society. According to the 2013 Global Burden of Disease Study, over 95% of the world’s population is ill and at the aid of the numerous ill ones around the globe are nurses.

Nurses bear the responsibility of assisting people in regaining their health; they provide care to the unwell usually in hospitals and also in various other areas such as in schools, military, prison, and corporations.

The nursing profession sometimes is perceived not just as a career but as a calling because it requires a level of passion for someone to dedicate his/her life to be a vital part of the treatment, welfare, and recuperation process of the ill, the near-ill, and the near-death patient.

Little wonder some to refer to it as the most trusted profession while some others label it a noble profession.

A nursing degree indeed holds a positive job outlook for prospective graduates as a nursing career is among the few jobs that are well-paying.

It offers good job security and provides a flexible working plan.

The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a whopping 16% job growth rate (439,300 jobs) for registered nurses with an annual median salary of up to $67,490.

That’s why it’s no surprise a nursing degree is one of the most popular courses among prospective undergraduates.
In the U.S, it ranks third most popular college major according to MatchCollege and USATodayCollege.

It also takes the seventh and eighth place as the most popular college degree in the U.K and Australia respectively as published by The Telegraph and Rediff.

As a step towards actualizing a nursing career dream, students enroll for a 2-year Associate’s degree program in nursing.

This exposes them to knowledge of patient care, helps them grow confidence with patient handling, as well as taking good clinical decisions.

What can you do with a Nursing Associate’s Degree?

Nurses with Associate’s degrees usually secure hospital jobs while some others work in health agencies, schools, insurance agencies, and social service.

Nurses with an Associate’s degree qualify for job positions as:

    • Telemetry Nurse: Their duties involve monitoring and providing care to patients in the telemetry unit who are placed under electrocardiogram, ventilator support or blood pressure monitors. They provide medications and assist patients recovering from either cardiac, neurological or lethargy issues.

Payscale pegs the annual median salary of registered nurses with Associate’s of Applied Science (AAS) at $50,000 while registered nurses with Associate’s Degree (ADN) earn as much as $58,087.

Although you can get a job with an Associate’s degree in nursing, some nursing career levels require at least a baccalaureate. This aids you in professional advancement to managerial roles and increases your earning power.

What can you do with a Nursing Bachelor’s Degree?

With a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, you secure job positions as:

    • Mental Health Nurse: Their responsibilities include providing psychological care to patients, interacting with them to discover the source of their emotional upset, administering medications, and providing therapy sessions for them.

The 7 Must Have Auto Body Tools You Need #auto #movers

    #auto body tools
    #

When getting started with auto body repair, let s face it you need some auto body tools.

You may be a hobbyist or you may be looking into auto body as a new money making venture for yourself

Whatever the case is, if you want to paint a car and start doing up your projects, you need to start building your tool chest.

Today we re talking about the 7 most common auto body and paint tools that you ll probably end up needing in the near future if you already don t have them.

Here s a List of The Most Common Auto Body Tools That You ll Need To Get Started in Auto Body and Paint

    1. Air Compressor

If you re serious about painting cars or bikes, then you ll want an air compressor that will last you the years to come.

    I recommend picking up a 240V 60 gallon with a 5-7 HP setup.

(See detailed post on the best size air compressor you need here).

It s perfect for painting a car, or a large van and will power all of your air tools with ease. It s a workhorse that you ll be proud you bought. Bigger is better when it comes to compressors.

If you want something small and only plan on painting touch ups and motorcycles then a 25-35 gallon air compressor will work for you.

SIDE NOTE. You can and I have painted a full car with a smaller 30 gallon tank. You just need to keep your eyes and ears on the pressure fluctuation and adjust accordingly while your painting I don t recommended it,  but it can be done.

    2. HVLP Spray Gun

You need a spray gun to paint correct?

I get asked all the time Tony what kind of gun should I get? I always reply with get what you can afford? . If you can afford a $600. SATA, then get it. It will definitely show a difference when laying your paint.

Just remember that you don t need the BEST gun when getting started. When I first started painting, I started with a $100. Astro spray gun.

I don t even think it was a HVLP. But I painted for at least a year or two with that gun. As you get better, increase the quality of your gun. You ll start to notice that your paint jobs start to come out better and better.

In closing, get what you can afford. If I had to recommend a good starting spray gun it would be a Warwick. Check out our reviews on them here. For $150 $250 you can get a great starting gun. (See a complete video and run down on automotive spray guns here).

    3. Dual Action Sander

Now, This is not really a MUST-HAVE, but will save you a TON of time with basic sanding and body filler shaping.

Get one if you can afford it. They cost anywhere from $50. $175. (see a complete post on Dual Action sanders here).

I show you exactly how you can use one of these to cut some MAJOR time off of your body work and sanding times. Don t worry, all of these strategies are located in our VIP course and you can learn more about that here.   Let s get you on the FAST track to repairing and refinishing your project!

    4. Slide Hammer/ Stud Welder

If you re planing on repairing some form of dents and pulling out panels then one of these is a must.

You can go with a cheaper version and get a basic slide hammer which uses screws and hook adapters to pull out dents.

Or your other option is to invest in a electric style stud welder.

When they first came out you d see them selling for $350. $450. Nowadays you can pick them up for under $190. Not bad!

If on a budget, don t count out local swap meets or local online classifieds to find great used tools. I ve had many VIP members score compressors and a ton of auto body and paint tools from craigslist.com and other popular classifieds online for fractions of what it may have cost if they had bought them new.

If you re not sure how to use one of these, don t worry because we have step-by-step videos in our VIP area that will walk you through the entire process and show you how to use these same tools with maximum results and success.

Yes, we also show you insider sneaky tips and tricks that only auto body pros know about

    5. Autobody Hammer and Dolly Set

Ready to whip panels back into shape? Ready to be the real deal with the steel?

Then get yourself a nice autobody hammer and dolly set. You ll need em. Expect this set to cost anywhere from $30 up to $150 for a brand name set like Eastwood.

This is a set that you ll probably buy once in your life. I still have and use my fathers originals. If you get the wooden handle kind, the handles are the only part that you d end up replacing over the years.

    6. Autobody Sanding Blocks

We all need a sanding block. My favorite is the Holy Block (picture below) they work really well for me. Wet or dry, you re good to go.

Durablock is another great brand with all types of shapes.

Sanding blocks ate crucial when doing autobody repair. You need them when color sanding and buffing. You need them for shaping body filler and you need them to help to cut high spots and to find low spots in your bodywork.

Auto body blocks are a must-have in the tool box and there affordable.

    7. Body Filler/ Bondo Spreader and Putty Knives

Putty knives or Bondo spreaders are used to mix body filler aka (Bondo ). You can get them in metal or plastic.

I used to like the metal ones because they d last longer. When they get caked up with filler you can clean them fairly easily with your DA sander or on a wire wheel.

What I don t like about metal putty knives is, once your finished applying your filler, you need to clean them right away. If you don t, it s a little harder to clean than the plastic type.

With the plastic applicators, after your finished spreading your filler, you can basically leave the Bondo on it. After it hardens, you can easily peal it off and you re ready for mixing and application.

That s why I rather use the plastic ones now days. Below you ll see both types of applicators. Metal and plastic.

PHEW . That was a lot of information!

Now, don t get me wrong.

You can do bodywork without a few of these tools such as the DA sander and Hammer set but you ll be very limited on what you can repair.

And over time, you ll probably end up adding more tools to your man cave, but for now I really think these 7 tools above are the basics and essential for completing some awesome auto body repair and paint jobs.

The Things You Should Know If You’re Interested in Becoming a Psychiatrist

A psychiatrist, similar to a psychologist, deals with mental disorders and treating them. However, they have a distinct difference — psychiatrists are more affiliated with medicine. That means they focus more on studying, diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental disorders from a medical standpoint, rather than studying the patient and their behavior due to the disorder. So before you take a step into the world of a psychiatrist, you should make sure it is really what you want to do.

    Will I like Psychiatry?

Are you able to listen to other people speaking, genuinely being able to take all the information given to you and respond appropriately? If your answer is no, psychiatry probably isn’t right for you. But if you believe you are capable to listening to a patient for up to an hour at a time without being judgmental, you may have what it takes to be a psychiatrist. And if you enjoy doing it, then that is even better. Here are some questions to ask yourself before getting started in psychiatry:

    • Do you like being in one on one situations rather than being in a group?
    • Do you like letting other people lead conversations?
    • Can you maintain composure under stress or duress?
    • Do you like having people place their trust in you?
    • Are you a patient person? If not, you may find being a psychiatrist to be one of the harder jobs you will face.
    • Are you interested in the human mind and the various affects medication has in restoring or repairing it to its optimum form?
    • Are you interested in learning more about mental disorders such as schizophrenia or PTSD?
    • Are you good at memorizing? Do you like to diagnose problems?

These are some of the things to keep in mind before you decide to go into psychiatry. And while these introspective questions may not be extensive, they are some key indicators in telling whether you will be interested in the field before you jump right into it.

What does it take to become a Psychiatrist?

The road to becoming a licensed psychiatrist is long one, but if you love the field and want to help people with mental ailments, it is well worth the time and effort needed. First off, you must have your bachelor’s degree. Some students choose to major in psychology, but there are many other social sciences or life sciences that will be equally useful. You could do sociology or health science if you are more interested in the “people” aspect, or you can go into physiology or biology if you are into the medical aspect. However, no matter which one you choose, it is important to get some pre-med experience throughout your journey. Once you are prepared, you can take your MCATs in order to apply for medical school once you obtain your undergraduate degree.

Upon entering medical school, you can expect to find a similar environment from your undergraduate experience – basically just taking science classes in order to expand your knowledge in the field of medicine. However, after two years, you can expect to start shadowing doctors, psychiatrists, or other health care professionals in order to finish your medical school training. This second part of medical school is called rotations. All in all, you can expect medical school to last four years. Before graduating, you will need to apply for residency in some psychiatric facility in order to finalize your psychiatrist licensing.

Your residency will take you an extra four years but will develop your skills using on-the-job training. You will work with mentors and other residents in rotations in order to get hands on experience in all fields of psychiatry, including research and diagnosis. You will also receive clinical training in order to further expand your knowledge of psychiatric medical treatments. Overall, your time in your residency should be a rewarding and enriching experience, if you take it in the right place. Choosing the perfect place to do your residency is another topic of its own, and should be thoroughly researched before committing to one.

Finally, after you go through your undergraduate program, medical school, and residency, you must pass your state’s board exam in order to be licensed. From there you can become certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and get started with helping people get their lives in order.

What is being a psychiatrist like at medical center?

If you want to be a psychiatrist at a private practice, then your days are very much like that of a psychologist or a private doctor — it will be a lot of one-on-one interaction with your clients and you will go home in the afternoon. But if you want to practice psychiatry at a medical center or hospital, here is what you should expect:

As a psychiatrist at a medical center or hospital, you can expect to start your days at any given time depending on your rotation. On your shifts, you will have your interns going over the events of the previous shift to catch you up (this is something you should be familiar with my now since you went through your residency). From there, you pick and choose between all the patients, deciding which ones need to stay and get inpatient care, and which ones just need to go home with a prescription. Some may just need a follow up with a different specialist, such as a neurologist.

Your days will be filled with listening to the interpretations of patient stories through the mouths of your interns – in some cases you will listen to the patients if the interns have trouble finding a trigger for a psychiatric break, but know there is something wrong with the patient. During this time, you will also be responsible for training the interns by questioning everything they do, and explaining anything that you do.

If you are interested in becoming a psychiatrist, you now have all the information you need in order to reach your goals. While it may take a long time, it may be worth it if you like to help others improve their lives by conquering their mental demons. As a psychiatrist you will be learning, studying, diagnosing, and treating mental disorders from a medical standpoint in order to enrich the lives of your patients. If that sounds like you, then psychiatry is your calling.

If You Have a Job We Offer Guaranteed Approval Bad Credit Loans

Most people incur bad credit at one point in their lives, because some problems may arise in the middle of the repayment, causing some difficulties to repay the loan. Studies say that a big percentage of American borrowers have histories of bad credits once, twice, or in many times while in debt. And so this is reflected in what we call the credit score.

A credit score is a numerical expression based on a statistical analysis of a person’s past credits, which manifests the creditworthiness of a certain borrower, which predicts the likeliness that he may be able to pay in time and well. This is used by banks, and other lending institutions to determine whether to approve an application for a loan of a certain individual.

A credit score lower than 700 means bad credits or a bad credit score, and this signifies the possibility that you may be denied or be hesitated upon by the credit investigator. As the borrower, you may think that with the past delinquent credits that you had, you may never be able to acquire a loan again.

But lenders, which does not necessarily mean the bank or another major lender, but those other ones may actually grant you a loan even when you have bad credits. Moreso, it will not take a long process of credit investigation, which will impede the approval of a loan. Guaranteed approval bad credit loans are now within your reach and it may take no more than a blink.

Guaranteed Approval Bad Credit Loans are loans that will not be taken against you as the bad credit borrower of the past. Lenders are now extending their hands to those who have bad credits, but may have stable income, or a home to guarantee in support to a loan. These loans have almost a 100% of being approved, and instantly!

Guaranteed approval bad credit loans take anywhere from an hour to 24 hours to obtain a grant, and have your much needed money deposited to your account. Of course these kinds of loans have very high interest rates, as a palladium that you will not duplicate your bad credit history.

This serves as a binding by the lender to the borrower. Lower loans usually just need a proof of stable income, while for bigger loans, the lender might require that you be a homeowner, and therefore, use this as a collateral for your loan.

Guaranteed Approval Bad Credit Loans require the least credit investigation or review of credit scores as long as there are other assets that will vouch your credit status. These, though are for major loans. Borrowers of minor loans or loans ranging from $100 to $500 may only be required to submit proof of stable income.

Of course, good credit scorers are not usually given these higher rates, because they may be more probable to pay in time and well. So given a bad credit history, Guaranteed approval bad credit loans are already a good bargain.

As a borrower, one must consider to compare lenders’ rates and get the best deal for a loan. This way, they can be granted loans to their benefit. Guaranteed approval bad credit loans are available in many ways like lending institutions or online.

    Auto Insurance Savings Tips

How much money do you think you will spend over the course of your lifetime on car insurance? Using the average amount of $1,587 that each American spends on auto insurance annually, we can calculate as follows:

    • If we say on average that we begin paying for car insurance at age 20 and stop at age 80, it comes out to about $95,820 (60 times $1,587).

What if even as little as 10% of that could be saved? That would mean an extra $9,582 in your pocket!

Car insurance is mandatory. Fortunately, you can make car insurance savings a must, also

Following are some areas to consider when you are seeking ways to achieve insurance expense savings while retaining the best protection for your family and vehicles.

    Discounts

You might be surprised to learn how many discounts are available on car insurance. Checking with your agent to make sure to take advantage of all that you are qualified for can save big dollars on your policy.

Multi-Policy: If you have an auto, home, boat, or umbrella policy with the same insurance company, you could receive a multi-policy discount. It can add up to 20% off your total policy premium.

Multi-Car: Depending on how many and the types of vehicles, you might be able to take advantage of a multi-car discount.

Safe Driver: If you are a safe driver (meaning no tickets or accidents for the past three years or more), you might be eligible for a safe driver’s discount of up to 5% of your premium.

Anti-Theft Devices: Using a car alarm system may save you a percentage on the comprehensive premium of your policy.

Good Student: Good grades for your high school or college student may save you 15% or more on your car insurance. You will need it to offset the higher rates for younger drivers, especially males under the age of 25.

Senior Citizen: Some companies offer a discount if you are over 65 and have established a good driving record.

Insurance Friendly Occupations: Insurance companies tend to watch statistics very closely. If they see that workers in certain occupations tend to incur fewer losses, they may be inclined to offer a special rate for those professions. For example, if a member of your household who is on the policy is also a teacher, engineer or scientist, you may qualify for a discount.

These are not all of the discounts that are available. So, ask your agent to apply the savings that you are qualified for on your policy right away!

    Deductibles

Deductibles are applied to collision and comprehensive coverages. Before the insurance will begin paying out the claim, you will have to pay the deductible. So, if you have a $250 deductible and the repair bill is $1,000, you will pay $250 and the insurance company will pay $750. A deductible can be anywhere from zero to over $2,000. It’s your choice.

The more of the risk you are willing to take on with an increased deductible, the less annual premium you will pay. The difference could be substantial. For example, going from a $500 to a $1,000 deductible could save you up to 30% on the collision (which usually comprises the highest premium component) and comprehensive portions of your policy.

    Coverages

When it comes to coverages, there are two that are mandatory—bodily injury and property damage liability. In addition, if you have a brand new car with a loan on it, your finance company may require collision insurance. Other than that, everything else is optional.

For example, towing may cost you $10 per month. Do you really need it? Especially on a new car? Even for an older car, if you are in a wreck, the property damage coverage from the other driver will pay for your vehicle to be towed to a repair shop.

Also, how often do you feel you will have to rent a car because of a collision? If you are hit, the other insurance company will pay for a rental. Plus, many credit cards offer car rental discounts. Consider skipping the car rental coverage.

If your car is an older model and paid off, you might want to consider doing without collision and comprehensive. Look at how much the car might be worth and see if it is even fiscally sound to add those coverages on the policy.

    Cars

Certain vehicles cost less to insure. This is because statistically, they have less frequency of submitted claims and a smaller dollar amount of claims paid out.

For example, following are ten cars that are among the cheapest to insure:

    • Buick Lucerne
    • Buick LaCross
    • Toyota Camry
    • Volvo V70
    • Toyota Avalon
    • Mercury Grand Marquis
    • Volvo S80
    • Mini Cooper
    • Volkswagen New Beetle
    • Chevrolet Impala

These cars will cost less to insure than most other models. So, consider the cost of car insurance that you will bear on the car you might buy.

    Other Car Insurance Tips

    • Limits: Although the dollar difference might not be great, think about the limits that you want to have on your policy. Instead of 100/300/100 limits for liability and collision, 50/100/50 limits might be less expensive. However, make sure you have enough limits to cover all of your assets.
    • Shopping: If you are going to shop around for anything, shop for auto insurance. The competition for the insurance dollar is so fierce, you will find it time well spent to compare different quotes from different insurance carriers. For the same coverages and deductibles, you might find six-month quotes that vary 10% to 20% among companies.
    • Credit Score: Many car insurance companies in states that allow it, are reviewing credit scores. They have found that individuals who are credit worthy tend to be better drivers. As a result, they may adjust the auto insurance rates accordingly.
    • Professional Organizations: Being a member in an organization such as or AARP or a credit union may also qualify you for discounts on your auto policy.
    • Employers: Sometimes employers will cut a deal with an insurance company to offer special group rates to their employees. Check with your Human Resources department to see if such a deal is available at your workplace.

Scrutinizing and applying all of these auto insurance savings tips can add up to substantial extra dollars for the family coffers!

Earn an Online Associate s Degree in Psychology

The vast majority of psychology jobs require graduate level education. An associate’s degree serves as a basic introduction to the fundamentals. If you decide to get your degree online, make sure that the online school that you choose to attend awards transferable credits that you can apply toward a bachelor’s degree program in psychology.

    Types of degrees

    • Associate of Arts (AA) in psychology has liberal arts classes to give you a broad educational background. The AA degree is the best choice if you plan to transfer your credits into a bachelor’s degree program.
    • Associate of Science (AS) in psychology has science, mathematics and computer classes to give you a technical education. However, the AS is very similar to the AA and can also be used to transfer into most bachelors programs.

    Admissions requirements

Undergraduate admissions requirements vary by institution. Be sure to carefully research any admissions requirements before applying to a program.

    Length of study

An associate s degree requires approximately 60-65 credit hours or about 2 years to complete.

    Coursework

Coursework for your degree will include introductory courses, possibly some statistics and research methods

    Accreditation

The school should be accredited by an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The best online psychology programs will also be accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). (The APA only accredits doctoral programs, but schools with this accreditation typically have high-quality undergraduate psychology programs.)

    Job possibilities

Most jobs in the field of psychology require graduate level degrees. In order to increase your psychology-related job prospects, you should consider volunteering or doing an internship while studying for your AA or AS. Some jobs for which this degree might help you qualify:

    • staff member at a residential treatment center
    • a psychiatric technician at a state mental hospital
    • an information counselor at a drug or mental health hotline

His straight talk, approachability, tenacity and years of experience with divorce and family law cases, make this office the right selection for many individuals or couples that have divorce, separation, child custody, support, order of protection and other family law needs. Couples contemplating mediation are encouraged to come in for a half hour no fee consultation. Individuals seeking the representation of a Long Island divorce attorney, please call for a free initial consultation either on the phone or in the office.

Situated in Nassau County, nestled in between Queens and Suffolk, this office services people and cases throughout the Long Island and New York City region. The Law and Mediation Office of Darren M. Shapiro, Esq. has a toolbox of litigation, collaborative law and mediation skills to find the approach that fits each individual and family. Divorce, Separation. Child Custody. Child Support. Prenuptial Agreements, and Postnuptial Agreements are all areas of law that are handled by this office and can be tackled through mediation, collaborative law or litigation. Orders of Protection, also known as Family Offense proceedings, are a major area of law this office handles but are usually not handled in a mediation or collaborative law context because of the behavior that is the subject matter of these cases.

There are many aspects to matrimonial cases that need to be addressed, in an agreement or stipulation of settlement, that are subjects that Mr. Shapiro has gained a great deal of experience with over the years in Supreme Court, Family Court and in the office working with couples in mediation or through consultations with individuals. When a separating couple has children, child custody, parenting time aka visitation and child support have to be resolved. With or without children, married couples have to consider whether alimony, which is now called maintenance, will be required and if so how much and for how long. Equitable distribution of marital assets, including retirement benefits, identification of separate property and an allocation of marital debt should be discussed in any pre or post nuptial agreement, separation agreement, judge s order, or stipulation of settlement of a divorce.

The goal of this office, whether acting as your lawyer or mediator, is to get you through the process, with results that meet your wishes and needs, as expeditiously as possible. When people come here, there is some family law issue that needs addressing. We are going to do our best to resolve this issue or issues, so that your problems are in the rear view mirror, so to speak, sooner rather than later.

If Darren is your Long Island divorce lawyer, we will discuss your desires and explore if a settlement can be reached on your case right away. Sometimes a settlement is not possible at the outset. In that case, he will fight hard for your cause. Often, after some litigation, a settlement is obtainable. Other times, cases require a hearing or trial. Mr. Shapiro can zealously represent you through the whole process. In a collaborative law case, he will provide you with the personal legal advice that you need to hear. All the while, in collaborative matters, we will be working with the other lawyer(s), coaches, professionals and parties that are involved to craft a practical solution for you and your children that makes sense and will hopefully withstand the test of time. As a mediator, Darren will try to get you to form an agreement as quickly as possible. However, if time is needed to sort through the issues in mediation, he is patient and available, until an agreement that makes sense to both of you is constructed.

Click around the website, watch the videos, and read the blog entries to learn more about particular topics. Please call for your free initial consultation. It will be our pleasure to speak with you about your situation.

Darren was excellent in court and able to negotiate a fair settlement in my Child support case.

Hands down, he is the best att’y I have ever dealt with. He is thorough, objective, and above all, extremely dedicated.

Should you buy a certified used car?

As gas prices have fallen, U.S. new car sales have surged. But buyers are snapping up certified used cars as well, with certified sales in November up 21 percent over a year earlier, according to CNW research.

Thrifty habits developed during the recession are leading buyers to what the industry calls certified pre-owned vehicles, says senior analyst Karl Brauer of Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com. “The last recession increased the price sensitivity of car buyers, driving many to consider certified pre-owned for the first time,” says Brauer. Certified cars typically get a thorough inspection and repair of defects at a dealership, along with an additional warranty.

If you share that price sensitivity, consider a certified used car rather than a new car. You should look to save at least $2,000 to $3,000 with a good deal on a certified used car of the previous model year vs. a new car, says Alec Gutierrez, another Kelley senior analyst.

Gutierrez points out, however, that certified deals vary widely depending on how fast a given model depreciates. He cites the following examples:

    • A Honda Accord is known for holding its value. A 2015 Accord EX-L lists for $27,406 and a 2014 certified used one for $26,129 — a savings of just $1,277.
    • A Ford Escape SE, with about average depreciation, sells as a 2015 for $25,421 but as a 2014 certified car for $21,624. That is a savings of $3,797.
    • As an example of big savings, Gutierrez cited the Kia Cadenza large sedan selling as a 2015 for $33,447. A certified used 2014 model could be bought for $25,622 — a savings of $7,825. Among luxury brands, he suggests likely good certified deals for the Cadillac XTS sedan and the Infiniti Q60 coupe or convertible.

If you are considering a certified used car, take these additional factors into account:

Avoid independent used car lots. Independents may advertise certified deals, but you can not be sure the standards are as high as in manufacturer-backed programs.

Make sure the auto maker backs the warranty. Even at a franchised dealer, double check that the warranty on the certified car is, for example, from Ford or General Motors — not an independent warranty company.

Consider certified with older cars. Many cars returning after being leased are three years old. People who lease cars have incentives to keep the car in good shape in order to avoid penalties at lease end. “If the vehicle is passing the manufacturer’s process to get certified, a buyer can be confident it is a solid vehicle — and has coverage if a problem does develop,” says Gutierrez.

Even as the economy recovers, buyers’ appetite for certified used cars is likely to continue. “The awareness and advantages of certified pre-owned have extended to a larger percentage of car buyers in recent years, reaching sufficient critical mass to keep growing steadily going forward,” says analyst Karl Brauer.

Where can you buy repossessed cars?

    Karate1000

    Answered Last

Here is a variety of advice:

    • If I were you I would check out your county for repossessions to be sold they generally sale for 2/3 of the loan value.
    • I would NOT buy a car that has been repoed. Simple logic tells me that the driver was NOT doing ANY repairs or even oil changes, before it got pulled away. In my years of experience doing vehicle repos, (yes I do know what I am talking about here) the number of outright clunkers was higher than 75 percent.
    • Junk on wheels is what we used to call them. Run to death and barely able to be driven. Buyer beware is what I say.
    • What if my truck worth 15k is repoed because I quit paying on the 20k loan. Then I buy it at auction because I know I took care of it? Heck, I could even dirty it up inside a little first so it will auction for less.
    • It won’t work. If it was repo’d by a buy-here-pay-here lot, they’ll put it back on the lot and certainly aren’t going to deal with you. If it was taken by a bank or manufacturer’s finance company, it is going to a wholesale auction where you need a dealer’s license to bid. Some smaller credit unions or finance companies will sell their repo’s in their parking lot, but that’s just like the BHPH place – they aren’t going to talk to you. Besides, you STILL OWE the difference between the loan (plus repo fees) and what it brings. It’s cheaper to make your payments.
    • It’s fine to buy a repo car if you take someone with you who knows a bit about cars. Where repo cars are sold is different from place to place. Try Googling your city and car auctions or else looking up auctions in the phone book.
    • Call your local Credit Unions and ask them if they have any vehicles for sale. Most of them do these days. These are high quality cars for good prices and you are buying from a reliable source. Credit Unions will also give you good financing terms to get the cars off of their books. You could search online or just open the phone book and start calling.

What You Need To Know About A Short Term, 3 Month Car Lease

People choose to lease a car for many reasons, such as traveling for work or for personal use. If you need a car short-term, such as a 3 month car lease, there are several things to consider.

Short term car lease offers can be hard to come by, generally a dealer will prefer to lease a car for a standard lease term of 24 month or more. Because of this, any available short-term lease deals will usually have much higher monthly costs when compared to a typical lease.

Here are a few things to know about short-term leases and lease take overs. Keep the following in mind, should you lease a new car and want to transfer the lease to another person:

    • Leasing a car for shorter periods of time, such as a 3 month lease, most often means you’ll end up renting – which can be more costly versus a long-term lease. It may work out cheaper to just lease a car for a standard lease term, find out what deals are available in your area by requesting your free, no obligation lease price quote .
  • A lease takeover or assumption means you’ll assume complete responsibility for monthly payments – driving the car for the rest of the lease term and returning it to the dealership/financing agency. Often this is not a favorable deal, because the monthly payments will be too expensive.
  • The downside to assuming a lease is that the car you’re leasing is no longer brand new. Depending on the driving habits of the previous driver, you could end up with a poorly maintained car – possibly even paying extra for wear and tear, or mileage fees at the end of the lease term.

  • 3 Month Lease Deals are Hard To Come By- Find Standard Lease Deals Near You!

    • The first thing to do is determine the type of car that will meet your needs and priorities. By evaluating what is most important to you in a car, you’ll be able to select the style to best meet your needs.
  • Request a free, no obligation lease price quote to see the short-term lease specials being offered by local dealerships. You will be able to see which dealerships in your area will offer you special incentives on standard leases that could work out cheaper than a 3 month lease.
  • Think about the total leasing costs for the lease term. Estimate anticipated gas mileage, insurance and leasing fees. Evaluate the rates for different classes of cars – it’s possibly a different class will give you a lower overall cost.
  • Request a free new car lease quote now to find the best lease deals in your area, you’ll be surprised at the offers that could work out to being better than a 3 month leasing offer. Learn everything you need to know, so you can negotiate with confidence for the best car lease price possible.

    Mercedes C 350e plug-in hybrid 2016 review

The C 350e isn’t the perfect small executive saloon – there’s still too much of a compromise accompanying the hybrid powertrain – but it definitely merits consideration if you’re doing the maths on your next company car purchase. The quality cabin has real appeal, the car is a comfortable rapid cruiser, and the low tax rate promises real savings over even a four-cylinder diesel model. Plug-in hybrids aren’t quite there yet, but this is further evidence of how strong they’ve become.

Plug-in hybrids are really starting to break through into the mainstream, after many years as little more than niche models. The BMW 330e is bringing plug-in tech to the small executive car class – and now we’ve had a chance to try one of its main rivals, the Mercedes C 350e, on UK roads.

The C 350e takes the existing C-Class but makes use of electric power to deliver some tax-busting CO2 figures – precisely the sort of recipe that can appeal to company car buyers, which account for the sales of so many of these vehicles.

It mixes a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 208bhp, with an 80bhp electric motor. In combination, the two powerplants produce a sizeable 275bhp and, perhaps more importantly, a hefty 600Nm of torque.

Even with the extra 200kg of batteries on board the C 350e looks relatively swift on paper; Mercedes claims 0-62mph takes just 5.9 seconds The limited top speed of 155mph is as fast as all but the most extreme C-Classes, too.

Then there’s the trump card: CO2 emissions. The lab-based fuel efficiency test plays to the strengths of part-electric cars like the C 350e and sure enough, this car emits just 48g/km of CO2. That’s a little up on the 44g/km BMW 330e, but both cars fall into the lowest company car tax band of seven percent – and escape the diesel surcharge to boot. The C 350e is also offered in estate form, incidentally; that car returns 53g/km of CO2 emissions on the official cycle.

The hybrid system is controlled by a small switch at the rear of Merc’s familiar COMAND dial. You just keep pressing it to cycle through the different modes – Hybrid for a mix of electric and petrol power, E-mode to drive on pure electricity, E-save to preserve the level of charge in anticipation of some EV driving ahead, and Charge, where the engine will work slightly harder and top up the battery.

Pure-electric mode is swift enough for use around town, with that instant torque that comes with electric motors – but it tails off noticeably at higher speeds, so don’t think you’re going to be keeping up with a Tesla Model S on a twisting B-road.

The rest of the time, the hybrid system does a good job of cutting in the engine smoothly when it’s needed, and while the brake pedal modulation does take a little bit of getting used to, it’s no worse than in many other systems where energy is being recuperated.

In fact, in some ways the hybrid set-up suits the C-Class more sweetly than the 3 Series. mainly because the Merc doesn’t have quite the same aspirations of handling agility as its rival. Sure, you can feel the extra 200kg when you fling the C 350e at a corner – it’s not quite as quick to respond as a regular diesel or petrol version – but it’s fine as a relaxed cruiser, in much the same way as its stablemates. Air suspension comes as standard and while the ride isn’t entirely unflappable, even on our car’s optional 18in wheels, it felt pretty composed over all but the worst bumps.

Negatives? The battery pack cuts the C-Class’s boot capacity from 480 litres down to 335 litres – a much bigger compromise than you’ll find on the BMW. The floor itself has a fairly chunky step in it, too, so it wouldn’t be that easy to slide heavier items into place. And then there’s real-world economy. You can forget all about 48g/km and north of 130mpg, because even with regular access to a plug socket, you’ll do well to crack 40mpg.

The rest of the C-Class package is as strong as ever, though; you get the same nicely finished cabin and since the 350e comes only in Sport trim, the kit list is reasonably generous, with a Garmin-based sat-nav system, heated front seats and dual-zone climate control all standard.

Don`t you are a bit curious to know how RockAuto can compete with Advance Auto Parts when it comes to discounts on auto parts? Well, let`s turn again to RetailMeNot.com and see what Rock Auto discount code they list.

    • 5% OFF Already-low Prices: 3393425730965185 . Expiration Date 09/20/15
    • 5% OFF Sitewide: 3337099429280789 . Expiration Date 09/06/15
    • 5% OFF Your Order: 3352510524942350 . Expiration Date 09/13/15
    • 5% OFF Your Purchase: 18DF53BB27E8AA . Expiration Date 11/10/15

Perhaps the best thing when it comes to these often released 5% RockAuto discount code deals is that you can get discounts on any auto parts you want with them. The bad news is that the 5% discount is the only one offered by RockAuto for now, at least that`s what we learn on www.RockAutoDiscount.com. There are no 10% discounts and no free shipping discount codes. But who knows? Maybe in the near future, things might change.

Let`s take another look at what discount code Advance Auto are available on RetailMeNot:

    • 30% OFF $50+ Sitewide: TRT30
    • $40 OFF $100+ Standard Priced Items: TRT41
    • 20% OFF Every Product: PS20
    • $25 Off Orders Of $75+: UPROMISE124

You probably think the same way most people think, and that is that Advance Auto Parts provides much better discounts than RockAuto does. There`s no question about it that there will always be a matter of debate because different customers are interested in different types of discounts for different auto parts. The choices will always be different from one customer to another. Even so, I think you`ll agree with the fact that most customers out there will always choice the discount that offer at least 25% off instead of just 5% off, right? Besides these discounts which are obviously bigger, Advance Auto Parts offers other great deals like “Up to $50 Back with Rebates Rewards,” which RockAuto doesn`t even come close to.

One of the aspects in which Rock Auto stays better in the services they provide is that they offer very cheap prices on their auto parts. Probably the other one would be the fact that the 5% discount codes offered are released more often than those from Advance Auto.

    So, What Do You Think?

So, which one would you prefer from these two – Rock Auto discounts or Advance Auto Parts discounts. Besides the obvious choice maybe you have a different opinion for some reason. If you do, would you care to share it with us?
