about used cars

If you’ve come here looking for a used or certified pre-owned car, truck, SUV, crossover, hatchback, hybrid or convertible, then you’re in the right place. Edmunds has everything you need to know about buying or selling a used vehicle, including Carfax vehicle history reports, dealership listings and pricing information, expert car reviews, consumer car reviews, car dealership reviews, car price comparisons, car appraisal calculators, images and videos, technical features and specs, user forums and more.

At Edmunds, you’ll be able to browse thousands of used cars, trucks and SUVs for sale with special offers, appraise your current car, and research the car, SUV or truck of your dreams. You can limit your search to certified pre-owned (or CPO) vehicles for sale and be a click away from articles by our experts that will give you the best car shopping and buying tips and advice. Let’s take a closer look at each of these aids to easier used-car shopping.

The INVENTORY tab at the top of the page allows you to browse used cars for sale from popular makes such as Ford, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Infiniti, Acura and Subaru. The inventory tool allows you to cast a much wider net than simply visiting your local dealership’s website. Start with the make and model of the vehicle that you’re interested in. You’ll have the option to refine your search by price, distance, model year and mileage. If you’re looking for specific options or features, a certain trim level or a specific color, there are more advanced search filters available, including engine type, fuel type, drivetrain, powertrain, airbags, air-conditioning and much more. After you find the car, SUV, truck or hybrid that you’re interested in, select the listing to check out the VIN details page for that vehicle and get more information. There you’ll find a description of the vehicle from the dealer, vehicle features and options, contact information for that dealership, dealer reviews, a ballpark insurance estimate, and a link to see a Carfax vehicle history report.

The APPRAISE tab at the top of the page lets you enter your car’s basic information, odometer reading, trim level, and overall condition. Then Edmunds provides you with the True Market Value (TMV) for your used car or vehicle. Edmunds’s True Market Value or used car value is is a great starting point for negotiation of a used-car sale between a private buyer and seller. This is an “as is” value that does not include any warranties. The final sales price depends on the car’s actual condition and local market factors. You can use this used car value estimate to price your car for sale or to negotiate a trade-in for a new, CPO, or previously owned car for sale from a local dealer. The used car value estimate is also useful for assessing retail pricing at a car dealer. You can try it out by clicking the “APPRAISE” tab, above. Once you enter your vehicle details, you will receive three estimates for your used car’s value: “Trade-in” is what you can expect a dealer to offer you for your used car; “Private Party” is what you might expect to earn if you sold the pre-owned vehicle yourself; and “Dealer Retail” is what you might expect to pay if you were buying this used model used at a dealership. If the vehicle is new enough, you’ll also see a price that says “Certified Used Price.” This price estimates what the dealership might sell it for as a certified pre-owned vehicle.

The RESEARCH tab points you to our expert analysis of the make and model of the car you select. You can read our editors’ reviews and learn about each generation of the vehicle you’re interested in. From there, you can narrow the focus of your car buying research by selecting a particular model year and learning more by checking out photos of the cars, researching local dealership listings, car valuation, consumer reviews, editors’ reviews, pros & cons, features & specs, and safety information. That’s a world of information. And we’ve put it all right at your fingertips.

Are you thinking about trading in your vehicle at the dealership or selling it yourself? Find out what your used car is worth with our True Market Value appraisal tool. Enter the year, make and model to get started. Make sure you know the options on your vehicle and the current odometer reading. Be honest about the condition level. Most cars will fall in the “average” to “clean” range.

The appraisal tool will give you three prices: “Trade-in” is what you can expect a dealer to offer you. “Private Party” is what you might expect to earn if you sold the vehicle yourself. “Dealer Retail” is what you might expect to pay if you were buying this model used at a dealership. If the vehicle is new enough, you’ll also see a price that says “Certified Used Price.” This price estimates what the dealer might sell it for as a CPO vehicle.

If you are hesitant about buying a traditional used car, you may want to consider a certified pre-owned vehicle. These vehicles tend to be newer, have gone through a more detailed inspection process and come with a limited warranty. The Edmunds inventory tool will have an option to sort the list to show only CPO vehicles. You can also go directly to the CPO cars page.

8 Excellent Websites to Find Used Cars for Sale in the Philippines

    Used car websites

F inding used cars for sale in the Philippines has never been easier. Both buy and sell agents and private car owners can go online and choose from a variety of free car listing directories to post ads from. Buyers just need to type in a make and model then hit enter to get a gazillion results.

I myself went through a car addiction stage and spent countless hours online searching for second hand cars for sale My favorites are the ever reliable Toyota Corolla big body and EK Honda Civic. I put this list together to help other buyers find high-quality 2nd hand units from the best buy and sell car websites.

    8. Adpost Philippines Cars

    Used car websites

An oldie but goodie, find your next ride here. Adpost is a low key general classifieds listing but the used cars section is the best part. It s not that popular so there are less car dealers and more real owners posting ads. The website design needs a complete makeover but it s strength lies in it s informative descriptions and page listing layout.

    7. MyCars.ph

    Used car websites

My first visit to MyCars.ph was quite a pleasant discovery. It came up on a google search paid listing while I was doing research for this post. I usually don t trust paid Google results but I m glad I clicked on the ad. MyCars has the best search filtering system I ve seen among all the buy and sell car directories. The site is very informative, intuitive, and clean looking.

    6. Kotsebook.com

    Used car websites

A promising newcomer, this site offers a clean and easy-to-use directory. You can also post your car for free.

    5. www.carfinderph.com

    Used car websites

Owned by the second hand sales giant, Buy and Sell Philippines and the most popular used car magazine Car Finder. Sellers who buy ad placements on the physical magazine also get their ads listed here online so you have more chances of finding jewels from non-internet savvy/offline sellers.

    4. Autoindustriya.com Classifieds

    Used car websites

Autoindustriya or AI for short, is one of the oldest Philippine automobile classified websites. Not the most organized used car listings but well worth taking a look at. It also boasts of a strong community and interesting automotive articles.

    2. Grupo Toyota Auto Trader

    Used car websites

Definitely the site to go to find the best deals for used Toyota cars for sale. Most vehicles for are owned by club members so you know the vehicle is well taken care of. I ve wasted numerous hours of my life scanning the selling forum.

    3. Mitsubishi Lancer Club Vehicles for Sale

    Used car websites

If you re looking for a good condition used Mitsubishi Lancer this is the right place. You ll find all Mitsubishi Lancer models in the classifieds vehicle section of the forum. Go find your pizza pie, itlog, sinkit and more in this amazing community. *Requires registration

    2. HCP Pitstop/ Sellin (Honda Club Philippines)

    Used car websites

Quality used Honda cars sold directly from Filipino die-hard enthusiasts. It s not uncommon to find fully loaded Honda cars at super bargain prices here.

    1. Tsikot.com

    Used car websites

This site has the freshest list of 2nd hand cars among the choices above. This is what makes it number one. That and the fact that it has the best local car discussion forums. The listings are well-organized and categorized. There are plenty of units to choose from.

    But Where s Sulit.

I did not include the mainstream classified sites like Sulit and Ayosdito on purpose . I love Sulit for everything else except cars classifieds. It would be the last website I would try searching because of the overpopulation of sellers and questionable quality of listings. When you re about to invest 100k and up for a second-hand automobile, it would be best to first start with the specialized classifieds mentioned above.

Used Car Dealers / Online Showrooms

Used car dealerships make the whole buying process smoother. You deal with pros and there s a physical establishment you can come back to in case you need help. Car loans and installment payments are available and they usually do all the paperwork for you like transfer ownership and registration. Of course there s a hefty premium you have to pay for this comfort.

Here are some good used car dealerships I ve used as reference and their websites.

I still prefer meeting the real owner of the vehicle in person and saving money by skipping the middle man.

    Conclusion

The best online used cars are found in car club forums and communities. Have the patience to register and browse the threads thoroughly. You can even make new friends on the way. Crowded classified websites like sulit and ayosdito should be your last resort to choose from. Buying directly from the owner is cheaper than purchasing from a used car dealer although the latter does have it s advantages.

What are your tips and personal experiences in buying 2nd hand cars ? If you found this post useful, share it with your friends with a quick like or tweet.

    about used cars

Explore Car-Buying Articles: If you’re unsure about the next steps in buying a used car — or car buying in general — Edmunds has research articles that can help. Take a look at those we’ve linked to on this page, or visit our research main page for a full list of articles that have been written by Edmunds car-shopping experts.

The Edmunds inventory tool will have an option to sort the list to show only CPO vehicles. You can also go directly to the CPO cars page.

A new usability report has revealed the top car retail websites in the UK

The UK’s top car buying websites have been detailed in a new report from the Auto Retail Network, which ranks car retail websites in terms of customer usability.

The Website Report 2013 looks at the websites of franchised dealers, independent used car dealers and car manufacturer sites, and ranks them based on criteria endorsed by experts at Google, Auto Trader, autotorq and MotoNovo Finance.

Motorparks topped the list of franchised dealer websites, thanks to strong performance on mobile devices as well as its consumer focus and engaging design. Pentagon came in at close second, thanks to good finance options.

The highest-scoring manufacturer website was Volkswagen. which was found to be easy to use and had extra features over rival sites. Abarth didn’t fare too well in the report, with a broken configurator meaning it came in last place.

Fords of Winsford picked up the prize for the best used car dealer site, with a useful 48-hour ‘reserve a car’ function and online part-ex valuation service.

For franchised dealers, the criteria for judging included the ability to book a service or test drive, a special offers page, social media presence, and a live finance quote. For used car dealer sites, the ability to provide a part-ex valuation was key, along with the speed at which an enquiry was responded to. Finally the manufacturer websites needed to feature a good configuration, the ability to browse features and specs, and a brochure request option.

All of the websites were also tested for usability on mobile phones and tablets. One panel member said: “If I want to visit Amazon or eBay I expect to be able to do everything that I can do on desktop on mobile. Why should auto retail consider itself any different?”

    Best used car websites

As exciting as it is to buy a new car — err, at least one new to you — the process of finding and purchasing any vehicle is exhausting. You wouldn t be surprised to find a sleazy salesman breathing down your neck as you peruse the lot s selection, trying to put you in a different car at every turn. Given the aforementioned situation, or a similar scenario thereof, it s no wonder nobody enjoys perusing Bob s Used Car Emporium for a new set of cars under such stressful conditions. Thankfully, the Internet boasts a bevy of virtual car lots, lined with everything from mid-size sedans to all-terrain pickup trucks. The sites allow you to swap the salesman and pressure-laden environment for a comfortable desk chair, while providing you with all the necessary information regarding each car s condition and supposed history. However, the question remains, which site is the most competent and coupled with a dearth of scammers, crooks, and the like?

Here is our top selection of the best used car websites for bettering your online shopping experience. No cheesy slick-backs, no false information, and no forced decisions; just the best websites to help you buy a used ride. Also, skim our list detailing the essential questions you should ask when buying a used car  and our roundup of the best cars for new drivers  if you re still shopping around.

    Cars.com

Contrary to what the website s ridiculous commercials make you believe, navigating to Cars.com won t lead your conscious to manifest itself as a second head on your body. Rather, the site is a deep and extensive resource for anyone shopping for a used car. Filters allow you to search based on make, model, and the highest possible price for any used or certified pre-owned car in your area — and once you find your desired car —the website provides quick links to the car s various Carfax reports. Moreover, you re given the option to instant message the dealer or owner directly if they re currently online, or simple email the if they re not. Cars.com s simple navigation and robust resource selection make it one of the best for first-time buyers.

    Autotrader.com

Few sites surpass AutoTrader.com when it comes to advanced search tools. Not only does the site s initial search let you choose the make, model, and price of your desired car akin to most sites on our list, but you can also filter your results based on the type of car you want, its fuel economy, exact specifications, or a variety of other notable features. For instance, do you want a car with an intuitive navigation system? How about a sedan with four doors and keyless entry? Then check the requisite box for either option and let the result populate. AutoTrader.com even gives you the option to search for Business Elite model Chevy or GMC commercial vehicles at any given moment.

    Hemmings.com

While not strictly a used car website catered for finding a 95 Geo Metro, Hemmings is a classic car collector s dream. The website provides a worthwhile blast from the past, reveling in 60s Chevy Impalas and Studebakers from the 30s, while additionally offering tools for locating specific parts or services pertaining to a car you may already own. Hemmings also offers a Daily News Letter, an updated blog, and several other resources for the classic car owner to use in addition to standard search functionality. The site even touts its own webstore where you can buy diecast models, Hemmings apparel, collector car books, or a 2014 wall calendar. For the classic car enthusiast, Hemmings is an excellent resource for car classifieds, complete with supplementary buying tips and links to upcoming local auctions.

    CarsDirect.com

Simple and straightforward, CarsDirect is all about the basic. You can choose to search for used cars within your provided area based on body style and price or make and model, thus filtering available options only within your region. Search results include offerings from both dealers and owners, with a bundled option of viewing your desired car s Carfax report. CarsDirect also allows you save your favorite cars and search history when deciding between different makes and models, and each search result provides a slew of images detailing the selected cars condition. Furthermore, you can submit an inquiry about the particular make or model your looking at, or choose whether you re look for special financing. Links to the respective car dealer s website come standard, as do comprehensive maps providing you directions to the dealer s location.

    Welcome to American Cars Auction

    What is a Salvage Car?

In the United States a vehicle is branded as a salvaged when is destroyed or receives damage of 75% or more of the retail value of the vehicle at the time the damage occurred. This rule can vary from state to state since some will declare salvaged a vehicle when the damage is as low as 60% or as high as 85%.

These vehicles can be branded after an accident, because of storm damage (flood or hail), vandalism or theft. The insurance companies assess the damage and conclude whether or not it is cheaper for them to pay to have the vehicle repaired or to simply sell it damaged As-Is. The insurance companies are interested in recouping as much of the settlement as they can as quickly as possible, therefore these vehicles are sold below their market value.

These vehicles are purchase by small and medium rebuilding dealerships and body shops that are able to repair them and sell them at very reasonable prices, because they don’t have the high end cost of labor and repair that the big dealerships have. Obviously there are also some of these salvage cars which have been damaged beyond repair and have been deemed total loss or junk vehicle, junk yards and auto parts dismantlers buy these vehicles and sell them as used parts.

Since in many countries a vehicle with a branded american title can be imported with not problem at all, there is also a huge market for these vehicles overseas. In many foreign countries the cost of labor is very cheap and there is not state regulations prohibiting the rebuilding and driving of vehicles which have been declared total loss in the United States, in addition, these vehicles can be sold in these countries at prices that give the importer a great benefit and the new owner the satisfaction of having a late model vehicle at a fraction of the price.

Now at our Auction Network we have salvage cars for sale that can also be purchased by individuals looking for a donor vehicle, a vehicle for a restoration project, a car, bike or truck to rebuild it for personal use or even to sell it for a profit in a foreign country always buying at very discounted prices, a privilege only reserved for used auto dealers, auto parts dismantlers, rebuilders and wrecking yards now available to the general public, no dealer license required.

    Car Buying and the Internet

Let your fingers do the walking so your feet don’t have to! Use the Internet to help put you behind the wheel of your very own vehicle.

Photo courtesy Edmunds.com. Taken by Scott Jacobs

Whether you’re buying new or used, there’s no doubt that the Internet is a great tool for your car quest. If you are buying a new car, you can research the kind of car you want, the options you need, the price of the car and the price of the additional options. If you’ve done your homework, you’ll be able to walk into a dealership armed with loads of valuable information.

When you’re just starting out, a good first step is to go to the manufacturers’ Web sites to check out the cars and the available options. You can usually find local dealers and request quotes or see the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Once you’ve narrowed your choices, you can check out an array of other Web sites for more pricing information:

Make sure you go to more than one pricing site to get the best idea of the average price.

In addition to using the Internet to research the car you want to buy, you can also use it to figure out your finance options and select a warranty for your car. Sites like E-Loan and Lending Tree offer online auto loans. A warranty is a contract that guarantees maintenance if your car has any mechanical or other problems. Remember that warranties are another way for dealers to get more money out of your bank account, so know what kind of warranty you want and how much you are willing to pay for it.

Now that you know where to start looking for information, let’s take a closer look at what you should know before you go shopping.

    Odometer Fraud

The odometer lets you know how many miles the car has driven. A used car’s mileage affects its selling price. For instance, the more miles the car has logged the lower the cost of the car. Because high mileage can decrease the selling price, some unscrupulous people practice odometer fraud. Although it is a crime to try to roll back or change the odometer reading, that doesn’t stop people from doing it.

    Best used car websites

    Craigslist.com

It s often difficult to wade through the sea of garbage populating Craigslist, but that doesn t mean the site can t be an excellent resource. Even with a less than desirable search function, there s no better option when it comes to local shopping. The site grants you access to thousands of different cars, whether you re looking for local dealers or merely owners in your area, with the convenient ability to sort pages based on location. If you live in Sacramento fir example, you can peruse the cars+trucks  section within Sacramento-specific Craigslist page for vehicles exclusive to that area. Like most items found on Craigslist, you need to be weary of the seller and item in question, but the site remains typically offers the most versatile selection of vehicles on our list. Plus, it s one of the few sites where bartering and trades remain a viable option.

    AutoTempest.com

If you ve ever used sites like Kayak.com or Sky Scanner, then AutoTempest is right up your alley. The site combines search results from eBay Motors, Cars.com, AutoTrader, CarsDirect, and others, casting a all-encompassing net over a smattering of other used car sites on our list. AutoTempest s home page also features buying guides, checklists, and advice, detailing negotiating tips and how to avoid purchasing a lemon among other topics. The site even provides specific buying guides for a selection of car makes and models, along with comprehensive car reviews and a compilation of frequently asked questions. Moreover, the site saves search results for quick access later, while offering several suggestions for top-notch shipping services for shipping any vehicle you might buy.

    CarSoup.com

CarSoup.com is yet another familiar used car website, though it also allows you to price and sell any used car you may have. The website recognizes your respective location, providing the top daily deals and budget-based specials currently offered in your idea, while additionally showcasing a laudable assortment of buying guides, advice, reviews, and previews to ensure you make the right decision when buying a car. If you re just beginning your search for a used car, CarSoup.com also offers a collection of top-10 lists spanning a variety of topics. Said lists range from highly sough topics such as The Top-10 Most Loved Vehicles and The Top-10 Most Affordable Cars for 2014, to more niche lists such as The Top-10 Spookiest Sounding Cars. It s not a vast departure from other online services on our list, but CarSoup.com still offers a dependable set of tools with a used car selection to match.

    reddit.com/r/UsedCars

While not a traditional used car website, Reddit proves a worthwhile resource when beginning your research. The dedicated community of users provides constant updates in a Craigslist-like fashion, providing the subreddit with an impressive selection of content. You can easily pose questions with a free, registered account, or browse the thousands of older posts and comment on past inquiries at a later date. Though not the most elaborate or thorough, Reddit features a search function to help you refine posts and avoid wading through the site s plethora of pages. Featuring links to recommended used car sites, user generated content, and a near infinite amount of resources, Reddit is a must-visit during your used car search.

    CarMax.com

CarMax.com may look nearly identical to the CarSoup, AutoTrader, and CarsDirect websites that came before it, but the site exclusively searches its own CarMax lots across the country. That being the case, CarMax is essentially a national dealer, as opposed to one working with independent owners and dealers alike. The site offers a no haggle price intended to present you with an offer it deems to be a fair low price up-front, thus eliminating the need to negotiate with a salesperson. Regardless, a team of dedicated technicians runs each vehicle through a rigorous 125-point inspection, and CarMax works with multiple financial institutions to offer tailored financing even when you purchase a vehicle through the site.

8 Excellent Websites to Find Used Cars for Sale in the Philippines

    Written by caleb

F inding used cars for sale in the Philippines has never been easier. Both buy and sell agents and private car owners can go online and choose from a variety of free car listing directories to post ads from. Buyers just need to type in a make and model then hit enter to get a gazillion results.

I myself went through a car addiction stage and spent countless hours online searching for second hand cars for sale My favorites are the ever reliable Toyota Corolla big body and EK Honda Civic. I put this list together to help other buyers find high-quality 2nd hand units from the best buy and sell car websites.

    8. Adpost Philippines Cars

    7. MyCars.ph

A promising newcomer, this site offers a clean and easy-to-use directory. You can also post your car for free.

    5. www.carfinderph.com

Autoindustriya or AI for short, is one of the oldest Philippine automobile classified websites. Not the most organized used car listings but well worth taking a look at. It also boasts of a strong community and interesting automotive articles.

    2. Grupo Toyota Auto Trader

Quality used Honda cars sold directly from Filipino die-hard enthusiasts. It s not uncommon to find fully loaded Honda cars at super bargain prices here.

    1. Tsikot.com

This site has the freshest list of 2nd hand cars among the choices above. This is what makes it number one. That and the fact that it has the best local car discussion forums. The listings are well-organized and categorized. There are plenty of units to choose from.

    But Where s Sulit.

I did not include the mainstream classified sites like Sulit and Ayosdito on purpose.

What are your tips and personal experiences in buying 2nd hand cars. If you found this post useful, share it with your friends with a quick like or tweet.

    What does RN-BSN mean? (Confused)

3 I’m a high school student who aspires to become a nurse and later on a nurse practitioner. Because of this, I want to get my Bachelor’s first, (not ADN) and then move on from there. I obviously need to do my pre-reqs and all that but I’m confused about the path of becoming a RN.

I’m confused on the meaning of RN-BSN. Does this mean that when you are a registered nurse, you go get your bachelors? That doesn’t make sense to me because I thought you needed your Bachelor’s to become an RN.

I’m graduating high school this year and interested in becoming an RN(hopefully an NP later on in the future) but I’m confused on how to go about this.

I hear some folks say that nursing school IS a 4-year college, but some say that you go to a 4-year school, complete your pre-reqs THEN apply to a nursing school. Which is it?

I know my questions seem pretty simple to some but I really want to try to make the best decisions and take the best routes to help me in my future career.

I went on several websites and they say that this program is for people who already are RN’s. I don’t understand this. I thought if you want your Bachelors, you go to a RN-BSN program?

    RN to BSN: Success Stories

Last edit by Joe V on Feb 15, ’17

The routes of nursing that pertain to your situation and questions:

    1) RN program – usually at a community college or vocational school. Such programs earn you the qualification to sit for an RN license. If at a community college, you probably also earn an associate’s degree at the same time. ASN (Associates of science in nursing). There are also still a few diploma schools out there which are hospital based programs that grant ability to sit for RN licensure. RN programs tend to take 3 years. Either 3 straight years, or 1 year of pre-reqs and 2 years of full-time coursework.

    2) RN-BSN program – through a university. Either 4 years of integrated general education, nursing education or 2 years of pre-reqs/gen ed and then 2 years of nursing education, both ending in a bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of science in nursing BSN) along with qualification to sit for RN licensure.

For those who earned their RN directly, there are programs out there specifically for them to earn a BSN (RN-to-BSN), usually 1-2 years.

You might wonder why one would choose option 1 over option 2 since option two is only one year longer and gets you a bachelor’s as well. One reason might be that community colleges are usually less expensive than universities. Another is that community colleges are more likely to offer part-time coursework or alternate schedules for those working full-time jobs.

Finally, each school has it’s own strengths and weaknesses and each student has their own strengths and weaknesses. One school might be well known for structure and if a student knows they do well with structure they might decide to choose that school. If a local school is well-known for training up confident, competent nurses, someone might choose that one over a big name university with new, unproven nursing program.

Good luck with your schooling decisions!

Thanks to everyone who has replied to this thread. I was in the same state of confusion. I am presently going throtugh a 3 year program to earn an RN, By next year i’ll be an RN here in Nigeria. however i intend coming over to the USA to obtain a Bsc in Nursing.
Can anyone recommend a good University and tell the me the requirement?
    Thanks.

there are programs at 4 year colleges/universities that after 4 years, you are an RN with your BSN.

There are many different means to RN-BSN. 1) An person which has a Bachelors of Science in another field can do what they call and bridge program and become an RN. 2) An LPN which desires to further his/her nursing career and continue their studies instead of starting from the beginning 3) An RN which has either a diploma or Associates degree can obtain her Bachelor’s.
And to answer your other part of your question about what direction to go in Nursing, according to what the profession states when you have and Associate Degree you are just considered a technical nurse and with a Bachelors you are a Professional Nurse . Even though when you get your license it will Registered Professional Nurse. Word to the wise, choose the path that works best for you, do not become stressed out and regardless of a big name school or a community college, we are all taught the same things and are all considered nurse. GOD LUCK. spin:

    Auto Dealer Websites and Marketing

You need a website where you can list your cars. It does not matter what your size is. Even if you sell 3 cars per month, a website will boost your sales. We provide websites that are ready for search engine optimization at a great price.

Contact us for more info and demonstration.

    Auctions

Used car lots get new vehicles in 2 ways: auctions and trade ins. Buying a car in auction is more costly than doing a trade. Most of the time a staff has to be actually present at the auction. This can mean travel expenses if the auction is far. Then there are the purchasing fees. Our DMS can help you track your auction costs. We also have floor planning features. Because our system is online, if you have a smart phone, you can enter the vehicle right at the auction as you buy it.

    Transportation

The purchased car may need to be moved to the dealer premises. Transportation can be costly. You may choose to drive the car your self or use a shipping company. Our DMS can track both cases. You can arrange multiple stops and update vehicles at once when the transport truck arrives.

    Trades

A common issue with many dealer systems is that trades need to be entered separately. Our DMS makes this process simple. You can enter trades at the sale time. This saves time and money and prevents errors.

Contact us for more info and demonstration.

    Reconditioning

Most dealers do minor repairs after they get a new car. This is like staging for real estate. You have a product and you want to present it in its best state for sale. If you have a service shop, that is great. You can save money and use your staff for most of the repairs. If not, you will need to use other vendors. This is the reconditioning process. Most dealers have a more or less standard set of steps that are used for used car repairs. Replace missing part, windshields, etc. Your used car software should keep track of these steps and how they are applied.

    Parts Management

Our system can also keep track of the parts used for repairs. You can enter your parts to the system and use them when entering repair work. The stock count will be decremented. We also have a simple order tracking for parts. Our DMS can store shipping tracking numbers. When the order arrives, the part count will be incremented. If you sell the parts or realize you lost some you can always update the stock count manually.

    Dealer Websites

The world is changing fast. We use Internet for all our needs. Used car lots need a website where they can list their cars. It does not matter what the size is. A website will help you grow your business and make your life easier. Today, you can get a dealer website for a very low price. Even if you sell one more car it will be worth it. Our DMS is integrated with your website. In fact, they are the same system. Our VIN decoder will show the specs of your cars on your website. You can do SEO for every page and each of your cars so that buyers can find your vehicles on Google.

    Inventory Distribution

You want to sell even more cars? You can start posting your cars to other sites. The main ones are Autotrader, cars.com, Craigslist. Our software helps you post your vehicles to these sites as well as cudlautosmart.com. We make posting to Craigslist as easy as possible. When you use full online marketing power of our DMS, you will attract many leads to your store.

    CRM

With our DMS, you can save notes about your phone calls to leads and clients. Also, you can check how many calls were made, how many emails were sent and how many of them resulted in visits and sales.

    Desking

You got the customer to come in. Now you need to crunch some numbers. Our deal wizard makes it easy. Enter the fees, costs and trade info and check the monthly payments. We guide you through the sale process step by step.

    Credit Reports

You need to check your prospect’s credit. As a dealer, you have a legal duty to make sure that you do not sell to a certain group of people (OFAC list). Our credit reports supplied by CredCo make sure that you sell to the right people.

    Credit Apps

It is tough being the small guy. Most used car lots are smaller in size. This does not help with financing. We provide direct integration with EZ Dealer Finance. Now you can get financing for your customers and enjoy participation profits.

    Vehicle Reports

Our DMS provides many vehicle reports that help you run your business day to day. Some examples: vehicles that need reconditioning work, due floor plan loan (helps avoid late fees), need registration, etc.

    Sales Reports

Check your sales progress monthly, weekly or daily. Easy to read charts. You can see your costs and vehicle turn around times and most importantly profits.

    CRM Report

This report shows you how your sales people are doing. How many calls did they make and how many of them converted to sales. You can see your best and worst sales people.

    Online Leads Report

How many people viewed my ads on Craigslist? How many of them came to my website? How many emails did I get as a result of this? Online leads report shows you this info.

We add reports based on customer demand. Contact us for more info and demonstration.

    Reliable, Free Web Hosting

    Types of Website Hosting

If you’re interested in creating an online presence for yourself or your business, the best way to do it is to build a website. Websites are, most basically, collections of files, so each one requires a place to store its files and a way to make those files accessible to other people connected to the internet. A web server, through web hosting, performs these critical functions. While every site needs hosting, there are a number of different ways that website hosting can be done. Which type of hosting will work best for your site depends on its size and complexity, as well as the resources and technical expertise at your disposal. To help you figure out the best hosting match for you, we’ll take you through some of the most popular website hosting options below.

    Shared Website Hosting

Shared hosting, also called virtual hosting, is the hosting of multiple websites on the same web server. With shared hosting, a web hosting company provides the user storage space and makes the website’s files accessible to others via the internet. The web host also maintains the server and provides technical support for it. For those who are not technically inclined or who do not have access to their own technical support staff, having a web host to manage these matters can make shared hosting can make a great fit.

Perhaps the greatest advantage of shared hosting is that its efficient use of resources means that it costs much less than most other types of website hosting. Shared web hosting also means that users can benefit from the expertise of the web hosting company providing the servers; a web hosting company like Freeservers that specializes in shared hosting has the experience and resources to provide exceptional reliability and technical support for your site. The specialized resources of a shared hosting company are well positioned to keep your site running properly and serving quickly at all times.

While shared hosting is an appropriate choice for many users, it’s not right for everyone. Those with extensive technical know-how who want complete control over their servers and websites are better served by another hosting option. Additionally, if your site is large and extremely active, you may need more server resources than shared hosting provides.

    Dedicated Website Hosting

With dedicated web hosting, there is a web server devoted entirely to your site. You may purchase your own server or pay for access to a server owned by someone else. If you own your own server and have it stored in someone else’s facility, you are using what is known as colocation hosting. In any type of dedicated hosting, because the server is exclusively dedicated to your site, you will have full control over its use and administration. This allows you to manage all aspects of your site. If your intent is to create a large site for a company with plenty of technical and financial resources, dedicated hosting might be right for you. If your site will demand a lot of server space and bandwidth, too, you may need a dedicated server to host it.

For individuals and small or midsized companies, however, there are a number of aspects of dedicated hosting that make it a less desirable option. Setting up or leasing and maintaining your own web server requires a great deal of technical expertise as well as a significant financial investment. Because the web server you use will determine whether your site is reliably online and available to visitors, you need to be certain that your server is stable, reliable, well maintained, and able to handle heavy visitor traffic; maintaining this level of performance is not always easy.

    Virtual Private Server Website Hosting

This type of hosting is something of a cross between dedicated hosting and shared hosting. Virtual private server hosting involves a dedicated server being shared by multiple users. The users share the resources of the server, but the server space is strictly divided into allocated percentages so that each user’s percentage of the server is dedicated only to that user’s website. This hosting arrangement gives a user some of the control of a dedicated server without the large-scale investment in a server that may have more space than necessary. Virtual private server hosting does provide limited resources, however, and even if your site experiences a temporary traffic spike or another unusual demand, there will not be extra resources flexibly available to meet the need. The somewhat complicated arrangements of virtual private server hosting can also be a drawback to this hosting option, as service providers can create confusing service agreements that include unexpected limitations for their users.

    Shared Website Hosting with Freeservers

Now that you’ve learned about your hosting options, perhaps you’ve decided that shared hosting is right for your website. When you’re ready to create your shared hosting account, start by comparing the web hosting packages Freeservers offers. We provide a variety of packages, from free web hosting to feature-rich business hosting packages, so you’re sure to find one that fits your needs. With Freeservers, you’ll receive top-notch hosting services and loads of useful features, all with the exceptional reliability, stability, and customer support that you need to make your website a success.

How to Create a Car Dealer Site for New and Used Cars

Are you ready to build your own car dealer website. This is fast and easy! In fact, we believe it cannot be made any quicker, simpler or cheaper than this.

As an auto dealer. it’s all about sales! You need an easy-to-use website, which is designed to present appealing photos of your cars and attract the attention of new buyers. We give you the tools to keep your website up-to-date with your latest vehicles; and we also make it easy for you to remove the cars you have just sold.

Your new website already includes a stylish car logo. However, if you prefer, you can upload and insert your own business logo.

For your buyers, your website is quick and easy to use. Your cars are fully searchable, based on the keywords you add to each car (each gallery item).

    Now let’s get started.

    1) Start

    2) Finish

And when you are finished, you can have your own auto dealership website: Car Dealer Website.

    How?

What’s the deal? This is a website builder for your motoring business and we offer two main methods for you to create a website.

    1) Web Design Template

This option is ideal if you are just getting started and you need a website solution with the minimum amount of fuss. Just tell us the name of your business – and using our unique web templates, you can be up and running on the internet in no time at all. To get started, you can buy this web design template and the price starts at only £7 per month (other currencies on offer: US $11; Euro €9; Canadian $14; Australian $16).

The cost is very cheap, but the end result looks slick and professional. You can actually turn off the link to QuickontheNet.com (a.k.a. ‘No footer bar’) and hide the fact that this is a low-cost solution.

    2) Create your own Website Design

You can take it a stage further and use our site builder for building your own website from scratch. This option is perfect if you have your own business logo and branded design scheme.

Either way, it doesn’t matter which option you choose, because you still get full access to our web builder toolkit, whether or not you choose to purchase one of our creative ‘click and buy’ templates, or build your own site from scratch.

    Web Design Template Colours

We have already done the hard work for you! For added speed, we have created 4 creative design schemes, based around a modern car wheel image and a stylish car profile logo. This is particularly handy if you are just starting up your business and you do not have a business logo right now.

To make it quick and easy for you, we have created 6 engaging colour schemes:

    Create a Photo Gallery

As standard, each website is supplied with 4 galleries. Each gallery can contain many different photos e.g. you could have 30 individual click-through car photos per gallery. As a guide, a standard website is good for around 100 gallery photos (i.e. 100 click-through vehicle photos).

If you upgrade and buy Extra Galleries. then you will have a grand total of 20 galleries. As a guide, a website with Extra Galleries is good for a whopping 1,000 gallery photos (i.e. 1,000 different click-through vehicle photos).

    Create a Video Gallery

You can also add videos to your site and use our gallery tool to present your cars for sale. For example, you could group your autos by model and make. Show video clips of your top-selling sports cars; and for your business clients, present your executive luxury saloons.

Just to clarify, any gallery can contain a mix of videos and photos.

Start by uploading your own video movies to a free video host like YouTube.com, Yahoo! Video or MetaCafe.com. Then, simply embed video in your QuickontheNet.com web galleries.

    New Cars or Used Cars

It really doesn’t matter. QuickontheNet.com is a very flexible solution and it will work perfectly well for new autos, used autos, or a mix of new and used vehicles together. It’s your choice!

    Add PayPal Buttons

E-commerce is normally used for low-value transactions, but it will also scale up for big-ticket items, like car and van sales. You can use PayPal to take customer deposit payments, or use it to collect the total purchase price value of your vehicle sales. It’s extremely secure and very easy-to-use.

Broadly speaking, there are 3 different types of PayPal button you can consider:

  • Buy now buttons for a single-item purchase.
  • Add to cart buttons for multiple-item purchase (also known as ‘Add to basket’ or ‘Add to trolley’).
  • Subscription buttons for recurring payments e.g. weekly, monthly, yearly.

An online Shopping Cart is also known as a:

  • PayPal Shopping Basket
  • PayPal Shopping Trolley

    How do I sign-up?

    1) Sign-up and create your own website design at QuickontheNet.com.

OPTIONAL: 2) Please note that you only need PayPal if you want to take online PayPal payments from your site. Sign-up and open your own PayPal account. During the registration process at PayPal, you will need to sign-up for a Business Account or Premier Account (not a Personal Account).

Websites give free cost estimates for car repairs

By Gitte Laasby of the Journal Sentinel

    Updated Nov. 14, 2013

Consumers who need a car repair but are worried about getting ripped off by a mechanic can get free guidance online.

RepairPal gives free estimates of how much it will cost to get a specific problem with a specific vehicle fixed at a mechanic where you live. The calculator lets you pick a make, model and vehicle year and a zip code.

The website will respond with a price range for the repair. The site features everything from maintenance services, such as oil changes and transmission fluid changes, to problems with the engine, brakes, suspension and steering, exhaust and emissions, electrical and lights, heating and air conditioning. It also lists how much a diagnosis will run you.

The site will also make notes about potential repair costs, such as warnings if other parts may need to be replaced as part of the repair.

RepairPal uses information from technicians and analysts who spent 75,000 hours analyzing the cost of labor and parts for various repairs in zip codes. The system also relies on proprietary data not previously available to consumers, according to the site.

The site was founded in 2007 by a group of car enthusiasts and entrepreneurs who were frustrated by the expensive and tedious process of fixing and maintaining their vehicles.

They created RepairPal to provide deivers with the most accurate, unbiased and useful car ownership information available, the website states. Unlike any other online resource, RepairPal provides impartial, fair price estimates, the most comprehensive auto shop directory, and expert insights and advice from certified mechanics.

RepairPal is not owned by any car manufacturer, dealership or auto repair facility, but it does partner with such entities as Consumer Reports, U.S. News Automotive, AOL Autos, AARP, Cars.com, CarQuest Auto Parts, the Bosch Service Network and the Automotive Service Association.

Some other car repair estimators online: Napa and AOL Autos license RepairPal’s data, so they produce the same results, according to MSN Money. AutoMD will also compare dealer prices with independent repair shop prices and do-it-yourself costs. Other resources, including Consumer Reports, will give you estimates, too, but you need to be a subscriber.

    Best car-buying websites

    (AP)

Want to take some of the stress and mystery out of the car-buying process? Get on the Internet.

Auto Web sites — once filled mostly with reviews and advice — are getting more sophisticated, connecting potential buyers with dealers and offering instant price guarantees. Some let buyers estimate their trade-in values and turn in credit applications online. One company even lets buyers complete the entire sale online and get cars delivered to their door.

The Internet lets shoppers enter a showroom armed with the same information as a dealer, said Chantel Lenard, Ford Motor Co.’s U.S. marketing director. Sites let buyers configure their vehicles, see what others paid and estimate the trade-in value of their current car or truck. They could even walk into a dealership with a price locked in.

It’s truly become an equalizer in the shopping and negotiating process, Lenard said at a recent Ford event.

The no-haggle approach can have a downside. In person, a dealer might drop the price even further, or throw in extras like floor mats or a satellite radio subscription. But for many consumers, the convenience is worth it. And the multiple sites that let you check deals can help assure you’re getting a fair price.

Auto sites are rapidly adding features and content to attract buyers. For example, an upcoming mobile app from TrueCar.com will let shoppers submit photos and information about their used car to dealers, who will bid to buy it.

Here are some of the best places to shop for cars on the Web:

    — Edmunds.com got its start in 1966 as a paperback car-pricing guide. It won the highest ranking in J.D. Power’s 2014 survey of car shopping sites based on content, ease of navigation, appearance and speed. Edmunds lets buyers shop for new and used cars and also offers reviews and advice.

Once buyers choose a car and trim level, they can see the average price paid for that car in their area and get an estimated price from Edmunds. A 2014 Hyundai Sonata SE is estimated at $23,760 in Chicago, for example, or $540 less than Hyundai’s suggested retail price. Shoppers who enter their name, e-mail and phone number can get a specific, locked-in price from dealers before heading to the showroom. Dealers pay Edmunds a monthly fee to be part of the network.

J.D. Power also gives high marks to Cars.com, which connects shoppers to dealers who offer a quote; U.S. News Best Cars, which ranks cars and tracks deals; and Kelley Blue Book, which determines a price buyers should expect to pay based on local demand, seasonal trends and other factors. Kelley Blue Book says the 2014 Hyundai Sonata SE should range between $22,845 and $23,602 in Chicago.

    — TrueCar (http://www.truecar.com), which was founded in 2008, monitors millions of transactions to determine the average price of a car in your zip code. For example, the site estimates a 2014 Hyundai Sonata SE will cost $20,392 at a TrueCar certified dealer in the Chicago area. In Atlanta, TrueCar dealers will likely offer the same car for $21,369. Potential buyers get a guaranteed price they can take to a certified dealer. In return, dealers pay TrueCar $299 for every new vehicle sold through the site and $399 for every used vehicle.

TrueCar says nearly 400,000 people bought cars through its 7,700 certified dealers last year.

John Krafcik, TrueCar’s president, says it takes around three hours to finalize a car purchase. To ease consumers’ frustration, the industry wants to whittle that down to an hour.

    — General Motors’ Stop-Click-Drive program (http://shopclickdrive.com/) lets buyers shop via local dealer Web sites, estimate the value of a trade-in, estimate monthly payments, turn in a credit application and set up a time to pick up the car at the dealership. The program is good for Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC vehicles and was expanded to all 50 states last year. GM says it has sold more than 3,700 new vehicles through the site, which is offered through 40 percent of the company’s 4,300 U.S. dealers.

    — Carvana is perhaps the most radical model, allowing buyers to bypass dealers entirely. Shoppers can browse Carvana’s used-car inventory, apply for financing through its partners and arrange for pick-up or delivery — all online. Buyers can choose to pick up their car at Carvana’s vending machine, a three-bay garage in Atlanta. They’re given a special code to open the door and hop in their car. Carvana will also deliver a car anywhere in the country. A delivery to Chicago, for example, costs $600; delivery in Atlanta or Nashville, home of the company’s distribution center, is free. Carvana, founded last year by Phoenix-based DriveTime Automotive Group, owns all of its inventory, so it gives shoppers fewer options than sites that search other dealers’ inventories. But Carvana estimates that cutting out dealers saves buyers $1,500 per car. Carvana was offering a 2011 Sonata SE for $15,500 — sorry, no 2014 model available. The company won’t give exact sales figures, but says it has sold thousands of cars since its launch last year.

    Used Cars Websites

You will have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to used cars websites. Bidding for cars at online car auctions is becoming a fairly common practice too. There are deals to be had, and profits to be made with each car auction listing. The internet can be accessed from your home, office or schools, and hence has become ‘the’ medium of choice for most sellers wanting to advertise their cars for sale.

Websites which sell used cars give you the opportunity to conduct due diligence, or search for cars based on your requirement with the click of a mouse. Websites like these provide an opening for you to look at used car prices without having to call or visit the owner personally, hence saving you a ton of time, money and energy.

This alone can make for the best reason to turn to such websites. In today’s world, taking the time off work or cutting quality time with family is a big price to pay. Looking through the local newspaper’s cars for sale section or cheap cars section can be a daunting task too.

On the other hand, sorting through the ton of search results of a website that lists used cars is an extremely easy task. These websites gives you the option of filtering or sorting your searches by used car prices, year of manufacture, the color of the car, and the make model too, and all of this can help you sift through a ton of unwanted car listings easily.

In addition to most of the advantages that are listed above, used cars websites can make for a great starting point for your research. Imagine this, you decide to buy your son or daughter their first car, but have no idea what it would cost you. How can you decide on what budget is right for you, where do you start looking, where can you get the information that will help you make an educated decision about the safety features, the amount of money you should pay for a certain make or model or who’s going to give you all the information you need about which car might look good on the outside but needs a ton of attention and costs a lot to maintain.

Not all cars are made equal, each car is suited for different individuals which leads us to talk about another major advantage. Used Cars websites allow people to review cars. Car reviews like these let’s you assess the reputation of a certain seller and also gives you the opportunity to hear what others have to say about a certain car that they own.

When you visit a used car showroom, the sales agent is going to walk you through all the positives about buying a certain car. He’s going to detail the advantages of purchasing that particular car, and how it is the best car in the world. What he’s not going to tell you is the down-side, as we all know, all cars have some negatives in them, for example, some cars are too costly to maintain, some others are likely to develop gear box problems after being used for a certain amount of time, while some others may have other manufacturing defects which can’t be identified before you make the purchase. Used Cars Websites are to a certain degree un-biased. They provide a platform for the buyer and seller to meet. They don’t need to alter facts or hide the negatives. They are not the sellers, but just a medium for you to meet the many sellers out there.

All in all, used cars websites give you a variety of options to choose from, and can definitely help you make a well thought out decision easily without leaving the comfort of your home or office. This is definitely a win-win situation and deal worth taking up.
