2. Credit Unions.

The credit unions collect money from members and offer various products like loans to the members. Its main goal is service rather than profitability. But, it is not a charity. If you are a member of a credit union then it is a good place to research for auto loan because the Credit Union’s APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is lower than other sources of auto loans. This along with shorter repayment terms will lower the over all cost of the car provided that you can afford higher monthly payments. You can get approval with a check faster than other lenders. You should remember that the profits earned by the Credit Union are shared by all the members.

3. Dealerships.

You can approach Dealership companies also for availing car loans. They act as go-between the buyer and the bank or credit union. They do all the spade work on your behalf for the service of which they will charge you. You may have to contact more dealerships for comparison to arrive at the best auto rate. They may also offer auto warranty and insurance.

4. Online Lenders.

If you are the first time car buyer, as in the case of a college student, immigrant or a teenager, online loan is preferable to other sources as you do not have the credit history. There is no down payment. Unlike the banks and credit unions, there is no hassle of filling out forms. There are no fees charged for the loan. Also, you need not commute to bank, credit union or dealership company in order to apply for a loan. In the comfort of home, just sit before a PC with internet and fill out the form. The online loan form is easier to fill out than in the case of banks or credit unions. At the end of the online filling of the loan application form, by the click of a button you will know what your monthly payment will be and you will know whether it is within your budget. The online auto rates are competitive and at this stage it is up to you to decide to accept or reject the loan offer and you will get the reply via email within 2 days. The online loan process keeps postal expenses at the minimum. If you have credit score less than 600, there are some online lenders who may consider you for a loan with some conditions imposed on you.

Finding Banks with Low Auto Loan Rates

If you are looking for the lowest auto loan rates, you need to know how to find lenders offering the most affordable car loans. In order to get the lowest rates possible, you will need to have good or excellent credit to minimize any risk you may pose to car loan lenders. This how-to guide will show you how to find loans with the lowest interest rates.

Research Lender Rates

When searching for a loan it is always a good idea to shop around. Banks, credit unions and online loan operations are the most common and popular places to secure financing for a vehicle. Additionally, almost every single car dealer will be happy to provide financing for your new car. While a bit overwhelming, it really pays to do some researching; the web is a quick way to peruse current car loan interest rates in your area. Check all available outlets and compare rates, terms and fees.

Also, look for discount rates by organizations like the Automobile Club or AARP. If you belong to a trade group or organization that has negotiated better terms for their member be sure to take advantage of those discounts.

Look for Credit Unions

Credit unions are a great source for low-rate auto finance loans. If you are not currently a credit union member, visit local credit unions and inquire about membership requirements. You may qualify for membership in a credit union based on region, by a family member who is already a one or is eligible to be one.

Research Captive Finance Companies

If you are shopping for a new car or certified used car, you might be able to take advantage of special finance deals being offered by captive finance companies. Captive finance companies are simply the lending arm of the major car manufacturing companies. Most large car manufacturers have a subsidiary that makes car loans to consumers. For car buyers with good or excellent credit, these companies often run incredibly low interest loan deals sometimes as low as zero percent. Bear in mind that these low interest loans are usually only made for loans with particularly short terms of two years or less.

Credit Report

Your credit score affects the interest rate and terms on your loan, so be sure to review your credit reports annually. Report any inaccuracies to the reporting agency as soon as you notice them.

If your credit score is below 620, you likely only qualify for subprime loans. Keeping your credit report clean is extremely important when looking for a car loan. Make sure all your payments are on-time and limit your credit usage if your score is low.

Loans, like the price of the vehicle are negotiable. If you have good credit and a sizable down payment you should be able to negotiate favorable rates and terms for your loan. If you are not happy with the deal you are being offered shop around and see if you can find a better deal.

Make sure you read and understand all loan documents before you sign them. Interest rates are just one part of the loan. Fees, terms and conditions, and origination fees are a large part of a loan as well.

How to Compare Auto Transport Rates

Home Car Shipping Rates How to Compare Auto Transport Rates

If you are looking for the best possible auto transport rates. then you need to know all about the various options. Each and every day, people ship cars to all parts of the country from all parts of the country. These people make it happen with a process that is relatively easy to understand. Because there are lots of different shipping companies out there to help people with these needs, it is possible to get solid car shipping rates in the current economy. The question becomes, how do you find these rates? The simple answer is through comparison and using the internet, but that s not the complete answer.

How Distances Correlate with Auto Transport Rates

As you are comparing auto transport rates. you will find that there is a strong correlation between your rate and the distance that your shipment will cover. What you will find in looking at various companies is that there are some companies who do a much better job of providing low rates for long-range shipments. These companies might take a little bit longer to make the delivery, but they will provide you with something that is actually affordable. For people who are looking for a bit of value, these auto rates will be certainly something to consider. Ultimately, you are going to get the best rates only if you do a complete comparison of many different companies.

Understanding Your Car Shipping Service Options

It doesn t take a genius to see the difference in auto transport rates between covered trailers and uncovered trailers. For people who want a little bit more protection for their car, the covered route is a solid choice. These auto transport rates, of course, will be higher because these spots are in higher demand. The level of service that accompanies a spot in a covered trailer will vary based upon which company you are working with. This makes it even more important to look for as much information as you can when comparing the companies.

Likewise, lower auto transport rates can be had if you are willing to ship the vehicle in uncovered car transporters. As far as getting the car to its destination is concerned, these trailers do an excellent job. The issue here is that they cannot protect the vehicle from outside damage nearly as well as a covered trailer can. Keeping this in mind when looking at various auto transport rates will be your best approach to finding a company that satisfies all of your shipping needs.

Save Time Money with Online Auto Shipping Quotes

For those people who are serious about finding the best possible company for shipping their car, it is important to understand just how powerful the internet is in your search. Compare auto transport cost right online and you will be able to see how a bunch of different companies fare when put side by side. Cost is not the only consideration that you have to have in mind, so look for even more information on each of the companies. When you use the internet, you will be able to find out how they protect your car and how long it typically takes them to make deliveries to a host of different destinations. Comparing auto transport rates and details in this way gives consumers a better chance of understanding the process before they walk into it.

Getting Quotes from Various Auto Transport Companies

The nice thing about the internet is that you don t have to go around calling each and every one of the auto transport companies. In the past, this would have been the only way to find the information that you were looking for. When you compare car shipping prices using a comparison site, you can get a price quote from each and every company you are interested in without ever picking up the phone, which saves time and can really put things into perspective for you.

Who Provides the Best Auto Transport Rates?

When you are going through the various sites and comparing car shipping cost. you should keep your eye on those companies that are looking to break into the business with solid introductory prices. Many times, these companies will be looking to attract a new, loyal customer base. Using the net to find these price deals will save lots of money, whether you are shipping a car that you have just purchased, or a car that needs to be moved across the country with you.

Ultimately, comparing car shipping prices is the first thing that you need to do, and it s much easier when you enlist the help of solid comparison sites. As a consumer, you have to put in due diligence and, at the same time, you need to be aware of some of the things that impact auto transport prices.

Auto loan rates are down for buyers with bad credit #auto #body #shop

#auto loan bad credit

Auto loan rates are down, and financing is easier to get for buyers with bad credit

By: Bill Visnic, June 13th 2011

It was tough for buyers with less-than-perfect credit to get an auto loan during the recession.

Even after the recession ended, many economists and auto-industry analysts said credit requirements stayed too strict for too long, dampening many borrowers’ ability to buy a new car or truck.

But prospects are improving for subprime borrowers – it’s not only getting easier to get a car loan but to qualify for a better interest rate, too.

Credit data expert Experian Automotive says that sharply declining repossession rates in the first part of 2011 are giving lenders confidence that auto-loan defaults, spurred by the recession, are leveling out.

In the first quarter this year, 30-day delinquencies were down almost 8%, said Experian, and the total balance of auto-loan delinquencies was down $2.3 billion compared with the same period in 2010.

That, as well as a big effort on the part of car companies such as General Motors and Chrysler to expand the availability of subprime loans from their “in-house” lending units, means it’s getting significantly easier for those with nonprime credit (score of 620 to 679) and subprime credit (score of 550 to 619) to obtain an auto loan.

That’s one of the reasons that a dealership’s finance manager can often offer the best deals on bad-credit car loans.

Lending to auto buyers with nonprime scores was up 7.8% in the first quarter, and subprime loans increased by 8.5%, Experian says.

Even more helpful, the average credit score for all auto loans was down a significant 10 points to 766 – not far from the average loan score of 753 just before the recession.

Meanwhile, interest rates for nonprime and subprime auto loans also are declining.

In the first quarter last year, the average annual percentage rate (APR) for subprime auto loans was 10.8%.

This year, the APR on subprime loans was down to 10.38%. Nonprime auto loan rates dropped almost a full point, from 7.57% in 2010 to 6.76% this year.

Click here to compare the best auto loan rates from dozens of lenders.

Our use our auto loan calculator to see what the monthly payments would be for any interest rate and deal.

Experian summarized by saying that “credit continues to loosen” on auto loans and average credit scores needed to qualify for loans at all credit-rating levels continues to decrease.

The auto loan rates for subprime buyers that had reached nosebleed heights during the recession are starting to return to more acceptable levels that make monthly payments more manageable for buyers with less-than-perfect credit.

This is true of financing terms for both new and used vehicles.

Banks With the Best CD & IRA Interest Rates #bank #ira #rates

Banks With the Best CD IRA Interest Rates

The turmoil in the world economy, and the staggering losses inflicted by a falling stock market have left many people looking for safer alternatives for their savings. When it comes to short-term savings, nothing is safer than FDIC-insured banks. Unfortunately, finding good interest rates for CDs and IRAs is more difficult than ever. Fortunately, there are many resources available for consumers who are determined to find the banks with the best CD and IRA interest rates. Opening an account at these financial institutions can offer a decent return and a feeling of safety.

It was just a few decades ago that consumers hoping to shop around for better interest rates on their CDs and IRA accounts didn t have many options. Until 1994, banks that were members of the Federal Reserve System were not allowed to cross state lines. Even within a state, customers in many states could not even use a branch from the same bank if they did not open and maintain their account there. After the Savings and Loan crisis of the 1980s, Congress began to pass banking legislation that opened up competition among banks and allowed for branch banking within a state and across state lines. This meant that finding the best CD IRA interest rates was now just a matter of looking hard enough.

With short-term interest rates at all-time lows, finding the best CD IRA interest rates is more important than ever. Unfortunately, many of each bank s highest CD interest rates and IRA interest rates require a minimum deposit amount. Other rates may require the customer to also have a checking or savings account in addition to the CD or IRA account. Compare not just rates, but what it takes to get those rates.

Some banks offer higher rates for IRA accounts because they feel that they may be long-term assets even without a long-time commitment for a CD. For IRA accounts be sure to check and see if there is different rate for CDs or even money market accounts that might be higher than the rates offered for non-retirement accounts.

Finding the best CD and IRA interest rates requires looking at multiple financial institutions. While it is possible to search each individual bank s website manually, there are numerous online resources that make finding the best rates easier. For local rates offered by in-state banks, newspaper and TV station websites often include an interest rate comparison chart that is updated regularly. Financial websites like BankRate.com and offer CD and IRA interest rate comparisons nationwide.

Time Frame

Typically, higher interest rates are offered to customers looking for longer-term CDs and IRA CD accounts. Thus, a five-year CD generally pays more interest than a one-year CD, and a ten-year CD usually pays more than both the former. However, with interest rates at historic lows, be sure to carefully evaluate the pros and cons of locking up funds for a long period of time.

Expert Insight

Interest rates are at all time lows, with the Federal Reserve currently holding its target rate to between 0 percent interest and 0.25 percent interest. From here, interest rates have literally nowhere to go but up. While CDs and IRA accounts with longer timeframes may offer higher rates, those rates are likely to be eclipsed in just the next few years. Thus, the rate on a 10-year CD may be the going rate for a 1-year CD in just two or three years. Consider carefully, the added value of purchasing long-term CDs and IRA CDs at this time. Most people would be better served by 1-year CDs or even 3-year CDs or IRAs than a 10-year CD.

Most CDs and IRA CD accounts with the best interest rates have penalties for early withdrawal. Be sure to know exactly how much the penalty is for early withdrawal and figure that into your comparison of best interest rates. A 5-year CD offering 3.0 percent interest with a penalty of one-quarter of interest for early withdrawal may be a better offer than a CD offering 3.125 percent interest with a penalty of one year worth of interest for early withdrawal, for most people.

Best Current CD Interest Rates

As of November, 2009, the best interest rates nationally available being offered on 1-year CDs to new and existing accounts were 2.08 percent at UmbrellaBank.com, 2.03 percent at United Americas Bank, 1.99 percent at Pacific Mercantile Bank, and 1.98 percent at Colorado Federal Savings Bank. The average interest rate was 1.680 percent.

The best interest rates on 5-year CDs were 3.30 percent at Discover Bank, 3.05 percent at Ally Bank and 2.97 percent at Aurora Bank, FSB. The average 5-year CD interest rate was 2.873 percent.

All numbers are from BankRate.com. Interest rates listed are as percentages at APY.

Getting a Whole Life Policy Without a Medical Exam

Nobody wants to spend too much time thinking about the end of their life. However, leaving loved ones in a financial bind is not a good thought either. While it would be ideal if you could save money throughout your life for these expenses, most people need what they make to live on. It’s not at all uncommon for a couple to hit retirement and have no real plan in place for end-of-life expenses. Luckily, there is still the option of no medical exam whole life insurance. Getting life insurance without a medical exam is ideal for many situations, but you need to shop carefully and understand what these policies offer and, perhaps most importantly, what skipping a medical exam could cost you.

The Benefits of Skipping a Medical Exam

There are several benefits to obtaining a no medical exam whole life insurance policy. One of the main reasons that so many people favor no exam whole life policies is because there is no exclusions when it comes to existing health conditions. Many life insurance carriers will refuse to issue a policy for people who have been diagnosed with cancer, have a history of heart problems or even have been smokers throughout their life. With a whole life insurance no exam policy, you can get coverage no matter what your circumstances or your current medical conditions. If you pass away during the period where the policy is active, your dependents will get a lump-sum payment that can be applied to funeral expenses or helping them maintain their current lifestyle while they make other arrangements. In addition, all whole life policies have a cash value and do not expire, unlike term life plans. In short, if you currently have medical conditions that would normally prevent you from getting a policy, this particular type of screening is ideal for the whole life insurance product.

What a No Exam Policy Will Cost You

Forgoing a medical exam is not without a price. It’s important to realize that most no medical exam whole life insurance policies probably have limitations and exceptions to coverage. It’s very common for this type of coverage to have an exclusion period, often as long as two years, sometimes longer depending on the provider. This means that if any of the policy holders die from natural causes or disease during this time their beneficiaries may be left with a reduced settlement or no payout at all; being involved in an accident may or may not apply to this limitation. In addition, buying a whole life insurance no exam policy can be very expensive – often significantly more than a comparable plan where the insured undergoes an examination. Since costs can be as much as double that of a policy issued without an exam, you should try to exhaust that option first. If you’re absolutely sure that an examination would preclude you from a policy (or you just don’t want to subject yourself to a medical exam) we can help. We work with the nation’s top providers of no medical exam whole life insurance, so use the form at the top of this page to view current rates and select the provider that best-fits your current situation.

Online Loan Amortization Schedule: Printable Home – Auto Loan Repayment Chart #refi #rates #chart

Car Mortgage Payment Amortization Table

Loan Amortization Calculator

This calculator will figure a loan’s payment amount at various payment intervals — based on the principal amount borrowed, the length of the loan and the annual interest rate. Then, once you have computed the payment, click on the “Create Amortization Schedule” button to create a printable report. You can then print out the full amortization chart.

The Full Monthly Repayment Chart and Understanding Your Payment Allocations

No one factor affects the cost of purchasing a house more than length of the loan. This may seem like a no-brainer, but so many people look only at the monthly cost and never consider the total cost. That is a huge error. Using our amortization calculator you can enter various scenarios to reveal the true cost of the place you will call home any other type of loan.

Compare a 30-Year Loan

It can’t be expressed enough that you should almost always choose a 15-year fixed mortgage . Unless you plan to move in a few years, the 15-year is the way to go. In the beginning, a large portion of your payment goes to interest. As time progresses more is placed toward principal, but it takes years before the interest and principal are equal paid. For example, let’s assume you have a $200,000 fixed mortgage for 30 years at 4% interest and no down payment. Your monthly principal and interest is $954.83, but it would take 153 payments until more money is directed to principal than interest. The road to building equity is slow moving. After five years you still owe $180,895; after 10 years you still owe $157.568, and after 30 you will have paid the bank $143,739 in interest. Yes, you saw that right. So In reality that $200,000 home really costs you $343,739!

The 15-Year is the Real Winner

Let’s take the same $200,000 fixed loan at 4%, but this time let’s select a 15-year term. This scenario provides monthly principal and interest of $1,479.38. This is a bit more than our other example, but stay with me here. Right off the bat, more of your investment is going more to principal than interest. After five years you still owe $146,117; after 10 years you still owe $80,328, and at the end of the term you will have paid the bank only $66,287 in interest. This time the total cost of borrowing $200,000 is $266,287 saving you $77,452 in interest compared to the 30-year option. Think of what your life would be like being mortgage free after only 15 years and having an extra $77,452 in your pocket!

Figure your savings by comparing 15-yr vs 30-yr loans side by side.

Few are Disciplined Enough

You may say that you don’t want to be locked into that higher payment and that you’ll simply add extra each month to reduce some of that interest? It rarely happens. Life happens, and the extra money slides through your fingers for things you no longer remember. Forcing yourself to fit the higher payment into your budget from the start is the only way to ensure paying the loan off in 15 years and saving all that interest.

Additional Borrowing Expenses

Principal and interest are not the only expenses tied to the loan. Your county wants some of your money and so does your insurance company, so be prepared for property taxes and homeowners insurance. The more expensive the house, the more both of these will cost. Most people roll these two charges into their monthly mortgage. Otherwise, you will be faced with a large bill at the end of the year.

If your down payment is under 20%, the bank will require private mortgage insurance (PMI). This doesn’t protect you. it protects the bank in case you default. It can cost 0.5% to 1% of the entire loan. This fee is also rolled into your monthly payment. When the equity in your house reaches 20% the PMI can be removed, so this is another reason to choose the 15 year option – where your equity builds faster.

Home Ownership Has Other Costs

If you are a renter, you are accustomed to charges for utilities, but if you move into a larger house, be prepared for a larger heating and cooling bill. If anything needs repaired, you are responsible for all the parts and installation. So you need to build a rainy day fund, because odds are against you that one day the air conditioner will fail or the roof will leak or one of your major appliances will go on the blink. Without an emergency fund, these types of events can put you in the red. Lawn maintenance is another expense which may be new to you. Lawn mowers, weed whackers, hedge trimmers, etc. will be an immediate expense. If you live in a neighborhood with a homeowners association, monthly or quarterly fees may be required.

Don’t Go Overboard

Although a discretionary expense, home decoration/improvements must be addressed here. The home you buy, may not be move-in ready, so carpets may need to be replaced, floors refinished and walls painted. Beyond that, there is also the temptation to buy new furniture, draperies, and wall hangings, especially if you move from say a 1,200 square foot apartment to a 2,400 square foot house. You will be eager to make the house your home and nothing says home like the unique additions you select. For bargains look at amazon.com. your local craigslist.org or ebay.com. Go slow and don’t overextend yourself by buying on credit. It’s very easy for first time homeowners to find themselves not only with a large payment but also debt that can be overwhelming. It’s wise to make a list of the things you want to change and plan to tackle one every few months or however long it takes to save the extra money. You have just made the most expensive purchase of a lifetime, enjoy your new surroundings, and treasure the gradual debt free changes you make over the years.

Getting cheap rates on auto insurance

Some insurance companies focus on the bare necessities for you to drive legally—bodily injury and property damage liability with the minimum limits—along with a claims process that’s spotty at best. Rather than take a chance on that cheap car insurance company, you can get quality coverage that won’t break the bank with Nationwide.

How do I get cheap car insurance?

Everybody wants the best value for their car insurance premium. That’s why Nationwide offers many ways to get low rates, including our car insurance discounts. But what really makes us unique is the quality we offer our members. Here are a few benefits Nationwide members get:

  • Dependable, customizable car insurance – you can choose the auto insurance policies that suit your lifestyle and budget.
  • Top-notch claims service – Nationwide Claims Service is there when you need it, 24/7. You can file a claim online or by phone.
  • An annual On Your Side ® Review to ensure your coverage is meeting your needs.
  • Accident Forgiveness helps you avoid increased rates in the event of your first at-fault accident.

How can I lower my car insurance rates?

Certain factors influence your auto insurance rates, including some things you can control:

  • The kind of car you drive – The price and style of your vehicle will impact how much your rates will be. The age of your car also matters; older cars tend to be cheaper to insure.
  • The kind of coverage you choose – If you drive an older car with high mileage, you might consider dropping collision or comprehensive coverage if you need to keep your premiums low.
  • The amount of your deductible – Higher deductibles can significantly lower car insurance premiums. While it could mean more out-of-pocket expenses in the event of an accident, it could also mean paying less over time.
  • Where you keep your car – Rates are determined to some degree by the area in which you live and park your car.
  • The number of drivers on your policy – If you add someone to your policy, your rate will increase, particularly if that “someone” is a new teen driver. Statistically teenagers have more accidents so they’re more expensive to insure.
  • Your driving record – Insurance rates can sometimes increase after an accident or moving violation. The good news? You may qualify for a discount after a certain period of driving accident-free.

You can learn more about the factors that impact the cost of car insurance – and be sure to take them into account as you shop for coverage.

What about those discounts?

You can get more affordable rates on Nationwide coverage with our car insurance discounts. such as:

  • Multiple policies discount – When you carry multiple types of insurance policies from Nationwide (car insurance, home insurance, life insurance, motorcycle insurance and so on), you could qualify for lower premiums on each policy than if you had separate policies from different insurers. Think of it as a discount for bundling.
  • Affinity discount – We have established relationships with several organizations to offer discounts to their members. If you belong to such a group, you may be eligible for a discount on insurance from Nationwide.
  • Good student discount – Cheap car insurance for students is possible with Nationwide.
  • SmartRide ® discount – SmartRide is a tracking tool we offer to reward safe driving. Here’s where rubber truly meets the road – plug the device into your car and it will track your driving habits, such as hard braking, speed and so forth. With a steady hand at the wheel, your low-risk driving can earn you lower insurance premiums.
  • Paperless discount – You’ll save money on stamps and avoid late fees if you sign up to have your Nationwide bill paid automatically at regular intervals from your checking or savings account. Some policyholders may even earn a recurring discount when they agree to receive documents electronically.

Distracted, texting South Carolina drivers are getting into more auto accidents, raising insurance premiums #south #carolina, #texting, #distracted, #insurance, #rates, #premiums, #commissioners, #columbia #

More texts, more wrecks: Distracted SC drivers push up insurance rates

March 06, 2017 7:27 PM

It’s an all-too-frequent occurrence on Columbia’s crowded downtown streets, especially when the University of South Carolina is in session: A traffic light turns green and the car in front of you doesn’t move.

The driver’s head is down. It’s obvious he or she, possibly a USC student or young professional, is texting.

“Sure, it’s a problem with those university kids,” said Ray Farmer, director of South Carolina’s Department of Insurance. “But if you go back to their hometowns, their parents are doing it, too.”

Districted driving, however, is more than an inconvenience. It is a serious threat on our roadways and to your pocketbook. Insurance rates are rising rapidly because of a startling increase in accidents attributed to distracted driving.

Data from the state Insurance Department show rates in South Carolina jumped 8.9 percent in 2016, following hikes of 2.6 percent, 3 percent and 4.2 percent the previous three years. The increases are an aggregate of the state’s top 10 insurers.

“And distracted driving is a big part of that,” Farmer said. “You can’t go on the road without seeing someone – it doesn’t matter the age – texting, talking on on the phone or reading emails.”

Nationally, premiums have increased 16 percent since 2011, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

“Obviously, insurance companies are (raising premiums) because their losses are going up,” Farmer said.

Nationally, more than 40,000 people died on the road last year — up 14 percent since 2014. That’s the sharpest rise in 53 years, the Wall Street Journal reported. And distraction-related deaths were up almost 9 percent in 2015, according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In South Carolina, distracted-driving deaths hit a six-year low with 43 in 2016, according to the S.C. Department of Public Safety. But in 2015 they suffered a record high of 64.

Distracted-driving collisions with injuries rose to a record 5,698 in 2016, up from 4,399 in 2011, department records show.

“We are seeing an increase in accident frequency,” said Russ Dubisky, executive director of the South Carolina Insurance Association, a lobbying group of insurance companies. “And we’re seeing more serious injuries.”

To combat that, the Insurance Department last month launched an awareness campaign casting texting and driving as #inexcusable. It also asks South Carolina residents to take an online pledge on their website http://doi.sc.gov/884/Distracted-Driving. Doing so will enter the participant in a raffle for free tickets to the iHeartMedia’s Carolina Country Concert this June in Myrtle Beach.

“This is behavior we can stop if we really want to,” Farmer said.

▪ S.C. ranks No. 1 in fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled in 2016.

▪ 1,015 people died in traffic accidents on S.C. roads in 2016.

▪ S.C. has the nation’s third-worst drivers.

▪ Nationally, data show that 64 percent of all car accidents involve mobile phone usage.

▪ S.C. ranked 7th in 2016 in the percentage of driving fatalities related to speed.

▪ Nationally, fatal accidents increased 7 percent in 2016, the biggest year-over-year increase since 1966.

South Carolina Car Insurance Laws

South Carolina not only requires liability insurance for bodily injury and property damage (as almost all states do) and uninsured motorist coverage (as many do), it demands its drivers buy uninsured motorist property damage as well.

That $25,000 would repair or replace your car if you get hit by someone without insurance — but it won’t fix your car if you are at fault. Only collision coverage does that.

Bring your insurance card. South Carolina requires an insurance company name and policy number at time of registration. If your policy is canceled, you must turn in your driver’s license and registration or find new coverage. You’ll pay a $200 reinstatement fee, plus $5 for every day you failed to have car insurance..

Register as an uninsured motorist: South Carolina allows a driver to pay a $550 annual fee to register as an uninsured motorist. The driver is still liable for any damage he causes, and the fee doesn’t buy any kind of coverage. We think this is a really, really bad option.

Uninsured motorist penalties for South Carolina: If you don’t register and pay the $500 fee to drive uninsured, you may have to pay a $445 fee, your license and registration may be suspended, your plates may be confiscated and you may have to file an SR-22 form.

Save your driver’s license: South Carolina reduces your total driver’s license points by half after one year, though a record of the violation stays on your motor vehicle record for three years. You can also reduce your points total by four by taking a defensive driving course. License suspensions start at 12 points; a 25-mph over the speed limit ticket is six points; a broken taillight is two.

Minimum age for owning and registering a car: In South Carolina, you must be 17 to own and register a car. Most insurance companies will require a parent or guardian to sign a car insurance policy because it is a legal document.

Cracked windshield law: If you have comprehensive coverage. your insurance will pay for a windshield replacement without a deductible being due. The fine for a cracked windshield is $237.

White lightning alert: You can lose your South Carolina driver’s license for hauling moonshine.

Proof of insurance via smartphone: South Carolina law allows drivers to show electronic proof of insurance during a traffic stop. Thirty-one states total allow this.

Typical Interest Rates for Good and Bad Credit #auto #spares

Typical Interest Rates for Good and Bad Credit

Before getting your heart set on the perfect new or used car you need to understand how much you can afford to pay for a vehicle. If you are thinking about buying a car, you first need to check your credit score. Next you must compare different interest rates that depend on whether you have good or bad credit. Most people do not realize how bad credit can affect their car buying experience.

Average Interest Rates for Good Credit

Car buyers who have a credit rating from about 700 to 850 have good-to-excellent credit. These buyers will pay between 3% and 4% interest on their car loan. When shopping for a new or used car dealerships usually advertise no money down for qualified buyers — to qualify for this option you often need a very good credit score over 800. It may make more sense to wait a few months and increase your credit score before applying for a loan. You could save thousands of dollars on your car purchase with a lower interest rate.

Average Interest Rates for Bad Credit

In today s economy more and more people are facing average or bad credit scores. When people were out of work they may have missed payments on credit cards or even experienced a foreclosure. These are the same people who may have babied their car but are in desperate need of a newer more reliable model. The average interest rate for someone with average credit is about 5% to 6%. The interest rate for someone with bad credit varies from 6.5% all the way up to 12.9% or more on average.

If you are able to boost your credit score before applying for a loan you could save thousands of dollars in interest over the life of the loan. When you are thinking about your budget and how much you can realistically pay for a car, keep your credit score in mind and how much you will likely pay for interest.

Even if the dealership is able to get the payments down to a reasonable amount by extending the terms of the loan, make sure you are not paying more than the vehicle is actually worth. Overall, keep in mind that your credit score good or bad has long term consequences.

In your efforts to transition into the policies being shaped by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, having our services year round could prove to be a very wise decision. Our mission is to assist our clients in perfecting the entire scope of medical billing process through increased awareness of proper billing techniques, coding, compliance, information technology and knowledge of current industry guidelines.

Our short-term goal is to increase insurance revenue by 5% within the first 120 days of contracting with a new client, with a 1-year goal of 15% growth for clients averaging around 80% claims reimbursement percentage.

Credentialing and Provider Enrollment with Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS and HMOs, is an essential part of our strategy to attain higher claims reimbursement percentages. Registering Providers with Insurance Company Internet web sites for Direct Data Entry claim submissions, Checking Eligibility, Claim Status, and to receive Electronic Remits (EDI 835 files) speeds up the over-all payment cycle and gives us more time to resolve claim payment denials.

As Health Maintenance Organizations grow in membership, the window to get claims adjudicated has gotten smaller, especially when patients insurance can change in the middle of the billing process. Diagnosis coding is changing, as ICD-9 is converting over to ICD-10, which will surely have some impact on the billing process.

Many Practices around the country are gravitating towards having professional billing services handle the accounts receivable follow-up end of the billing process to ensure additional resources are in place in the midst of the above mentioned changes to the insurance industry.

Precise Medical Billing Incorporated is ready for full implementation of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. We are committed to creating and maintaining professional business relationships. A. Patient Eligibility

  1. Verification of whether or not the patient has active insurance benefits
  2. Verification of Insurance Payer *If the patient is enrolled in a HMO
  3. Contacting HMO/MCO * Check benefits
  4. Obtain Prior Authorization if required
  5. Updating patient information
  • Correctly adding HMO Information and New Contract Number (#) to Patients Insurance information database

Our professional knowledge is that Medicare, BCBS, Medicaid, and their affiliated HMO/MCOs have policies in place such as timely filing limitations that are designed/calculated to negate claim reimbursement in as little 90 days from a patients date of service. If eligibility is not checked on every visit the potential for Loss Revenue drastically increases.

**EDI Analysis Code Examples**

Claim is billed to Medicaid and rejects (data analysis code 24).
*24 – Claim not covered by this payer/contractor = HMO/MCO

Claim is billed to Medicare and rejects ( data analysis code 109 )
*109 – Claim/service not covered by this payer/contractor. You must send the claim/service to the correct payer/contractor = HMO/MCO

If the proper steps are not taken to resolve these claim denials, it usually results in Loss Revenue ( data analysis code 29 )
*29 – The time limit for filing has expired

Our staffs of Medical Billing Experts, Analysts and Claims Research Specialists follow a trained methodology when approaching EDI edits, rejections, and delinquent claims tracking. Once patient information/demographics and claims issues are resolved, notes are typed behind each claim highlighting the problem and correction that was made prior to claim resubmission. We use Excel spreadsheets to keep record of all Claims Tracking and Follow-Up.

Your assigned analyst reviews the results of the Claims Tracking and Follow-Up efforts; the data is converted into narrative and chart form and held over for the next meeting with Practice Representatives for discussion on ways we can improve collectively in our efforts to increase insurance revenue.

These trends, my friends, indicate a buyer s market. Quite literally, there hasn t been a better time to buy a new car. truck, or SUV since I was in junior high school.

As favorable as market conditions might be, getting the best car loan rates still requires some effort on the buyer s part, unless, of course, you re taking advantage of a 0% financing opportunity. Rates don t get any lower than that.

If your credit isn t perfect, or the vehicle you want to buy isn t available with zero-interest financing, you ll need to shop around for the best auto loan rates. On the pages that follow, we ll provide useful tips on finding the best auto loan rates.

Know Your Credit Score

Tip #1: Know Your Credit Score

Before you shop for the best auto loan rates, it s helpful to know exactly what s on your credit report, and what your credit score is. There are three primary credit-reporting agencies in U.S. Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union and they are required by law to provide consumers with one free credit report each year.

To obtain your free credit reports, it isn t necessary to contact each credit-reporting agency individually. Simply visit AnnualCreditReport.com and you can make a single request for all three reports.

When your credit reports arrive in the mail, be sure to review them closely. If you find errors, be sure to file an individual dispute for every error discovered, and do this as soon as is possible. According to federal law, the credit reporting agencies have 30 days to verify whether the information on your report is accurate, or they must remove it from your record.

Now that you know what your credit report contains, and what your credit score is, you re ready to try our tips for finding the best auto loan rates.

Shopping Lenders for the Best Auto Loan Rates

Tip #2: Shop a Network of Lenders

Rather than approach financial institutions individually to discern the best car loan rates, try shopping for the best auto loan rates through a network of lenders, such as Lending Tree. With a company like Lending Tree, consumers can submit a request for a car loan and obtain the best car loan rates from several financial institutions.

Approaching the task in this fashion saves time, and can quickly help a consumer find a competitive rate that serves as a benchmark for further competitive shopping.

Tip #3: Shop Your Current Bank or Credit Union

Once you know what the best auto loan rates are through a lending network, its worthwhile to visit the local branch of your existing bank or credit union to see if they can offer you a better rate. Be sure to take the best existing offer you have along for the visit, and ask your financial institution if they can beat your best deal.

Oftentimes, because they re more familiar with your finances and bill-paying history, your existing bank can work with you to provide the best auto loan rates.

Shopping Dealers for the Best Auto Loan Rates

Tip #4: Shop the Dealer

Car dealers have access to a wide variety of finance options, and can often provide you with the best auto loan rates. However, your chances of getting a great interest rate are improved if you walk through the door pre-approved with a loan because the dealer and its network of financial institutions will know that you re credit-worthy, and they ll know what rate they need to beat to win your business.

And if they can t, don t worry about it. If you ve followed our tips on finding the best auto loan rates, you ve arrived at the dealership with a pre-approved loan that already meets your requirements.

Calculate Your Insurance Rates Using Our Car Insurance Calculator #car #insurance #rates #nyc

Auto Insurance Calculator

You might want to use a car insurance calculator to see how much you can expect to pay for your insurance premium before actually signing up for a policy. Auto insurance calculators simply take your information, plug it into an algorithm, and then spit out some results. To further understand how these calculators work, you have to first understand how insurance companies come to determine your insurance rates.

How Your Rates Are Calculated

The most common factors insurance companies will look at when determining your premiums include your age, gender, driving history, and your vehicle. There are actually hundreds of different things that come into play when assessing the risk you pose to insurance companies, but if we looked at each one individually we’d be here all day. Instead, let’s take a look at some of the more basic and most influential factors.

Your Age

It should come as no surprise to you that younger drivers end up paying the most for car insurance. Years of data (and common sense) suggest that inexperienced drivers cause more accidents and therefore cost more money. Teenage drivers. students. and those in their young twenties pose more of a risk to insurers because of their recklessness on the road, lack of experience, and the astounding rate that they get into accidents.

Actuaries have looked at data and determined that those aged 16-26 should pay the most for insurance premiums. If you are in this age group, you should expect to pay the more than middle-aged individuals with lots of driving history and experience.

Your Gender

The stereotype that women are worse drivers than men might not actually be true. Statistics suggest that women are at least safer drivers than men. They get into less accidents and cause less fatalities on the road. Men are also more likely to drink and drive, drive with reckless abandon, and even drive without wearing their safety belt. Because of data like this, men can expect to pay more for car insurance than women.

Your Driving History

If you have a lot of citations on your record, you might be in for a nasty surprise when your insurance rates are calculated. You need to maintain a pristine driving record if you do not want to be lumped in to that “high risk” category that pays through the roof for car insurance.

  1. DUI/DWI Violation (Estimated 25% premium increase)
  2. Reckless Driving (Estimated 15%-20% increase)
  3. Speeding (Estimated 10% increase)
  4. Running a red light (10% increase)
  5. Driving without a valid license (10% increase)

While there are ways to get these points removed from your license and get these violations removed from your permanent record, it’s often times more trouble than it’s worth. It’s better to just be a safe driver and never have to worry about these insurance premium hikes .

Your Vehicle

The car you drive might be the most telltale sign of how much you are going to be paying for car insurance. Luxury cars and sports cars are most likely to warrant higher premiums. Safer, more “boring” vehicles will most likely cost less to insure. The more expensive the vehicle is, the more prone it will be to theft and vandalism. Expensive cars will also cost more to repair in the event of an accident.

In addition to the make and model of your car, the vehicle history also comes into play. If the vehicle you drive sustained a lot of damage in an accident, expect to pay more for insurance. If the vehicle had a lot of repair work done on it in the past, you can also expect to “pay a premium” for your premiums. This is one of the reasons why it is always so important to run a CARFAX report on your vehicle before buying it secondhand.

How to Find the Best Home and Auto Insurance Rates

Thank you,

First, thank you for asking your question.  I think this is a very good question and most Americans can save a lot of money by periodically review their home and auto insurance policies.  I went through this last year and if I recall correctly, the savings was over $1,000 a year.

Now, let me give you some good news and a bad news.  The good news is that insurance premiums are more negotiable than most people think, and with some work, you can save a lot of money.  The bad news is that there s no easy way to quickly identify the best deal for home and auto insurance.

Here are three basic things that you can do:

  1. You can start off with insurers that offer online quotes like GEICO. Esurance. and Progressive .
  2. You can enter some basic information at sites like InsureMe ; and get several insurance agents to call you with their quotes.
  3. You can call insurance companies individually.

In the end, you ll want to do all three and spend a lot of time on the phone to try and find the best rate.  Here are a few things that you want to consider, because they can safe you quite a bit of money.

  • Insure your home and auto with the same insurer to take advantage of multi-policy discount.
  • Check with your employer and/or school.  You may be eligible for a group discount through an organization that you re associated with.  You ll have to ask the insurer for this since they don t normally give this up for free.
  • Go with the highest deductible that you can afford to pay out of pocket.
  • Do take the auto glass coverage (if available).
  • Cut out any frills like free rental and towing can save you some money.
  • Ask about every discount you can think of.  For example:
    • Home Look at discounts for home security system, building material (e.g. brick houses are considered flame resistance), distance to firehouse, flood zone, etc.
    • Auto Look at discounts for defensive driving, safety features, alarm system, security features, day-time running light, etc.

Lastly, be willing to get the insurance companies to compete with each other for both the rate and coverage. You ll be surprised.

Now let s go to feedback from other M-network members.

Here s a response from David at My Two Dollars :

I think Esurance.com is supposed to be pretty good, but I have never used them. When I need to get rate quotes, I pick 3 or 4 companies and call up a local representative to see who has the best rates and coverage. For me, right now, State Farm is the best for my home and auto insurance.

Oh, and if you are in CA or WA (I think those are the only 2), they should contact Wawanesa. Funny name, but great company and the lowest rate and best coverage I had in CA. They only cover good drivers and they are only in a few states, but definitely worth checking out if in one of those states!

Here s a response from Gibble at Gather Little By Little :

I do exactly as David. I just call a bunch of companies and get quotes. Be careful though and make sure they are giving you fair comparisons. Make sure the coverage is the same and deductibles are equal. Once you have quotes, starting playing them off of each other. Local agents can discount.

I use State Farm and have since I was 16 years old. I call around every 5 years or so. State Farm is generally the lowest, but when they aren t, they always beat the lowest price.

Here s a response from Paidtwice at I ve Paid For This Twice Already :

I basically second (third) the two wise gentlemen who have already answered. I find comparing online, it is too easy to get different coverage types compared together. Apples to oranges, so to speak.

Where we live now, we have found Allstate to be the least expensive for our situation, but in the past it has been Geico and State Farm (when we lived in different places). Make sure to, if you have multiple policies, collect them together into one provider. You get discounts for that.

Car insurance for young drivers #young #driver #car #insurance, #teen #drivers, #teen #car #insurance, #teenager #car #insurance #rates, #car #insurance #discounts #for #teenagers, #car #insurance #for #young #drivers

Car insurance for young drivers

Starting to drive is an exciting moment for teens, but for their parents, it can be stressful and it will certainly be expensive. The good news is that you can check quotes from different insurance companies and minimize the damage to your wallet. Let us guide you through buying car insurance for young drivers to help you save money.

Before your teen starts driving, you should know:

  • All drivers in a household need to be added to a car insurance policy. There is no easy or cheap way to get around car insurance for a new driver. Either you need to add your teen to your policy, or the teen needs his own policy.
  • Sharing a joint policy with a teen is cheaper than paying for separate policies. Additionally, there is no benefit to a teen getting his own policy. This doesn’t mean, however, that you should simply add your teen to your current policy and be done with it. Adding a new driver means your company generates your rates all over again, and a different company may give you a better deal. Shop around by getting quotes from several companies.

Do I have to add my teen once he has a learner s permit?

The process of insuring a new driver typically starts when the teen gets a learner’s permit. Once teens get a learner’s permit (aka provisional license or instruction permit in some states), some companies allow you to add them to your policy at no additional charge until they get their licenses or turn 18. They allow this because state permit-holder laws require a licensed driver age 21 or older in the passenger seat, making the young driver less of a risk. Other auto insurance providers require that teens be added when they are in the permit stage, so check with your provider.

Start now by finding car insurance companies in your area

Do I have to add my teen to my policy if he doesn t own a car?

Yes. It doesn t matter that he doesn t have his own car; he has access to yours. If you don t add him to your policy and he is in an accident, your policy may not cover him. Some car insurance companies explicitly note in their policies that unless you notify them of additional drivers or risks, those individuals will not be covered. If they do cover the accident, the insurer may require you to pay back premiums from the time the teen was licensed.

If your teen is getting a license but isn t going to drive your cars — ever — then in some states, some insurers will let you exclude the teen from your policy. If you do exclude a teen, or anyone, from your policy, there will be no car insurance coverage extended if they are in an accident. Many insurance companies want you to tell them about household residents who are over a certain age (usually 15) whether that person is licensed or not.

Do I have to tell my insurance company about my teen if he isn t licensed?

Yes, you usually do. When you renew your policy, you are usually asked for information on everyone in your household. If your child hasn t received a permit or license yet, the teen usually can be listed as unlicensed on your policy. When a young driver is noted as unlicensed, he also should be unrated by the car insurance company, meaning the teen wouldn’t affect your rates.

Who should insure a teen if the parents are divorced?

In general, the custodial parent s policy is primary for the newly licensed driver. However, if the child will drive when staying at the second home, both parents typically need to list the teen as a driver. Car insurance companies deal with this situation differently, so check with your company and ask what your new rates will be. This way you ll know what to shoot for if you decide to shop around for a better deal.

How can a teen get his own policy?

A teen driver can get a car insurance policy of his own, but if he s under 18, a parent or guardian signature is required on the policy since insurance is a legal contract. Even if you are willing to sign on the policy with a young driver, keep in mind that it s cheaper if the teen is added to your policy instead. Read our age-specific guides for teen drivers to see how rates differ depending on whether the teen is on his own policy or the parent;s:

How much does car insurance for new drivers cost?

Our analysis of the cost of adding a teen driver showed an average increase of 160% when a married couple added a teenage boy to their car insurance policy. This number can only be used to give you a very general sense of how much your rates will increase. Every situation is different, and rates depend on your insurance provider, coverage options, ZIP code, vehicles, driving records, how much you drive and many more factors.

Why is car insurance for young drivers so expensive?

Teens are inexperienced behind the wheel and immature by nature. That’s a bad combination. A brand-new driver is 12 times more likely to have an accident than someone with a year of experience, says the National Institutes of Health. A 16-year-old who s had one accident is 50 percent more likely to have another, says the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. In addition, maturity levels change quickly. Teens who get their licenses at age 18 have fewer fatal accidents than those who are licensed at age 16. Many insurers no longer lump all young drivers together but instead rate age groups separately.

At what age do young drivers’ rates go down?

The age of 25 is typically when insurance companies begin to offer the same rates they do to all other adults. Some carriers will lower rates for women when they turn 21 and men when they turn 24. Once you re no longer priced as a young driver, your insurance provider will rate you based on your driving record rather than those for young drivers in general. In addition to rating drivers based on age, insurers can also levy a surcharge for inexperience, usually for those who have been licensed less than a year. To get a better sense of how insurance rates change by age, see average insurance rates by age .

Good student discount

Encourage your kid to do well in school because student car insurance discounts can help bring down your rates. Each insurer has its own guidelines, but typically the discount can be 10 percent to 15 percent. Each insurer always has its own rule for what constitutes a good student either a 3.0 grade point average or above, placement on dean s list or honor roll, or ranking in the top 20 percent of the class.

Safe driver discount

Look into discounts for new drivers who take a safe-driver course, sometimes sponsored by the insurance company. This may mean attending an actual classroom driver s education class, watching a driving video, or passing a written driving safety test. Your company may also offer discounts if the teen drives with devices that monitor driver behavior.

Cars for Teen Drivers

Given the cost of car insurance for your teen, you may want him driving a car this is cheap to buy and cheap to insure. Check out our list of the 20 best used cars for teens .

The least expensive cars to buy aren t always the least expensive to insure. Some cars cost more to repair after an accident, and some have a record of more injury claims than others do. And the least expensive car to insure may not be the safest. Electronic equipment such as stability control and antilock brakes can help novice drivers avoid accidents, and there can be a discount for having them. The lowest car insurance rates are often given to drivers with minivans and small SUVs.

Insurance for College Students

When a teen moves out to go to college, you ve got another car insurance decision to make, based on whether the teen owns a car, how far he moves, if he s going to drive a family car while in town, etc. Read our guide to car insurance for college students to get guidance for your unique case.

Although saving money is important, make sure you thoroughly understand each auto insurance company’s policy features and coverage information before you commit. Not only is it important to secure a cheaper auto insurance quote than what you already have, but also to obtain a policy that effectively meets your needs as a driver. Remember: while the establishment of a low cost vehicle insurance policy is exciting, a cheap auto insurance quote may not always be the best deal for you. After all, an insurance policy is useless if it can’t cover you at the times you need it most.

Comparing Car Insurance Rates

Car insurance is one of those things you can either pay too much for. You can also save a lot if you shop around. We recently switched car insurance on two of our company vehicles from one provider and saved over $1000 a year for the same coverage. We will call them the gecko and the good hands people. And now we actually have an insurance agent. Someone who knows our name when we call.

The good news is that you can Shop and Compare multiple Car Insurance quotes for free. Several online services let you enter your information and they get you a car insurance comparison with rates from several auto insurance companies. Beyond using the internet to get your car insurance coverage and save money here are a few more tips to saving.

Your Credit

Some auto insurance companies will check your credit before they give you car insurance rates. Check the car insurance application so you know if a credit check will be done. If you have good credit then make sure the car insurance rate you get takes your credit score into account. If you do not have good credit then look around for an insurance company that does not check credit scores.

Your Driving Record

It’s a good idea to know your driving record before you apply for new car insurance. When you submit your application the insurance company will get a copy of your driving record. Any tickets or accidents may affect the rate you are quoted. It’s easy to get a copy of your driving record online instantly.

Family Considerations

The Car You Drive

A significant factor when calculating the cost of your auto insurance will be the car or cars that you want to insure. Typically the more expensive the car the more the insurance will cost. And cars that are considered sports cars will typically cost more.

The best way to save on your auto insurance is to shop around. Below are resources that will make it quick and easy for you to compare insurance rates from several providers.

Average Car Shipping Rates for Domestic Transport #auto #body #repair

Average Car Shipping Rates for Domestic Transport

Car shipping rates vary greatly and depend on many factors. Auto transport companies are independent companies with their own pricing systems, and price variables include the weight of the car, the distance traveled, how quickly you need the car shipped and the time of year you are shipping, to name a few. If you are going to ship a car across the country, you need to shop around and make sure you get the best price car shipping quote.

Some Average Costs

As stated previously, car shipping costs vary and depend on many factors. But on average, it will cost you $750 to ship a car from New York to Florida, $1200 to ship a car from Boston to California and $695 to ship a car from Chicago to Houston. If the car you are shipping is inoperable, it will cost you approximately $120 extra. Some companies may charge extra for larger cars, such as SUV’s and trucks.

How Gas Prices Effect Shipping

When gas prices rise, so does the cost of shipping. The transporters use diesel fuel. Watch diesel prices. When there is a drop, order the vehicle and get it shipped.

Companies have a certain amount of transporters which travel across the country. If additional routes need to be added for a delivery, the shipping price will go up. If the transporter is already assigned into the same area, it can lower the price. Also, the farther away from main highways they have to go, the more fuel is needed, and more you’ll pay for shipping. If the transporter needs to get through a residential area, there are extra charges for special permits needed as well.

Car Shipping Calculators

You will find car shipping calculators on the Internet. These calculators ask you for information about your transportation needs, then calculate an approximate price based on that information. If you are unclear about any of the information, it is wise to call and speak to a customer service representative.

Gather the Necessary Information about the Car

In order to get a free car shipping estimate from an auto transport company, gather some important info about the car. If the car is in your possession already and you plan to ship it to someone else, this is relatively easy; it’s a bit more difficult if you don’t have access to the car yet. You’ll need to have the make, model and year of the car, as well as the mileage from the odometer. If it’s been previously used, get a vehicle inspection report. This helps the auto transport company to assess the value of the vehicle, which contributes to the total cost of the transportation.

Determine the Auto Transport Companies in Your Area

Using the Internet and your local phone directory listings, make a list of the companies that provide car shipping services in your area. These companies don’t typically offer their services in promotion and other advertising methods. You’ll need to do some research in order to find companies that work in your area. Fortunately, all urban areas are likely to have several companies of this type, and there are a wide variety of auto transport services that provide service to rural or remote areas as well.

Contact a Broker

If you’re unable to find a good selection of auto transport companies in your area, you may need to consult with an auto transport broker. These people serve as agents to liaise between customers like you and auto transport companies. They charge a small finder’s fee in order to help set you up with auto transport companies, but they have a wealth of information that can help you to find the best deal. They can also help to negotiate free quotes for you.

Contact the Companies

Many companies will provide you with a free car shipping estimate if you contact them directly and provide them with the information listed above about the car. Compare the prices of different companies to get a sense for how much you’ll have to pay to ship the vehicle in question.

Related Questions and Answers

Are International Car Movers the Same Price Per Distance as Domestic Shipping?

International car movers require much more information be provided about the vehicle than is normal in domestic transportation. The basic cost of transporting a vehicle the same distance internationally is about double the cost of shipping from coast to coast. Additionally, you will also be paying import duty and vehicle inspection fees above the cost of transport. If you are going to be using international car movers, remember to remove all articles from the vehicle and make sure it is 100% clean. For example, there are rules on transporting plant materials into certain countries and any seeds lodged in the tire tracks should be removed before shipping your vehicle. New Zealand, in particular, is very strict about this. Being an island country, they do not want foreign plant matter entering. Many transport companies will be only too happy to give you an online quote for transporting your vehicle and to act as your international car mover.

10 Tips for Choosing the Right New Car

Many deals sound too good to be true – generally because they are. Most zero percent car finance offers certainly fall into that category. They are definitely a good marketing strategy – because they increase inquiry rates at dealerships – but they are seldom a good deal for customers.

When choosing finance it is essential to look at the overall deal rather than do what the marketers want – which is to see you focus exclusively on the zero.

Generally, it is almost always cheaper to negotiate a significant discount on the price of a new car, and arrange the most affordable independent finance available.

NOW Accounts

A maintenance fee of $10 is imposed for each month if the average available balance is less than $1,000. Minimum to open the account is $1,000. No interest is earned on daily ledger balances under $1,000. Fees could reduce earnings on the account. Accounts available for organizations, associations and corporations, which are not-for-profit. No per-check fees.

Money Market Account

Minimum deposit to open the account is $1,000. A daily ledger balance of $1,000 is required to earn interest. No interest is earned on daily ledger balances under $1,000. The money market account is a variable interest rate account. Fees could reduce earnings on the account.

Personal Prestige IMMA

The Personal Prestige IMMA is a variable interest rate/yield personal money market account and is subject to change at any time. Fees can reduce earnings on the account.

All Accounts Mentioned Above

We use the daily ledger balance method to calculate interest on your account. This method applies a daily periodic rate to the ledger balance in the account each day. All deposited checks begin to earn interest as soon as we receive credit for the checks from the Federal Reserve Bank. For exact availability of funds for all checks, refer to our Availability of Funds disclosure, which is given to you at the time the account is opened, or may be obtained at any time from one of our client service representatives.

Each day, the daily ledger balance is multiplied by the interest rate and divided by 365 days (Example: a daily ledger balance of $2,500 x rate of 2.00%/365 days would equal 13.7 cents accrued interest for the day.) The accrued interest for each day is added together and credited to the account each month.

How To: Refinance Your Mortgage Without Paying Closing Costs

by Alex Stenback on September 22, 2011

Refinancing can be expensive. But it does not have to be.

That s because, with a little bit of creative thinking, or if you are working with a lender that knows what they are doing (and probably does not work under the thumb of a major national bank,) your lender will pay your costs for you.

This means: No closing costs. Zero. Nothing added to the loan or paid outright.

Sounds like the best deal ever, right?

Why doesn t everyone refinance this way?

To understand why, and how this works, we need to wade briefly – into the topic of how mortgage interest rates are offered, or priced.

Stay with me here.

What s the 30 year rate today?

Whether I am at a cocktail party (confession: I don t think I have ever been to a cocktail party ) or picking up the phone, it is a question I hear all the time.

It echoes in my head, and will probably be engraved on my tombstone.

And it is the wrong question.

That s because there simply is no rate issued each day by the powers that be. There is a schedule, or stack of rates each with a corresponding price.

Here s a grossly (laughably) oversimplified version of what lenders see every day when rates are released:

Actual rate sheets are a good deal more complicated than what you see here – many more decimals and adjustments to price based on myriad factors, but the central point to be made is this:

On any given day, no matter the overall interest rate levels,

– Lower rates are more expensive than higher rates and require a borrower to pay points.

– You can also receive, or bepaid points for a higher rate.

The No-Cost Refinance, Explained

Once you undertsand the concept that there is no rate but rates, and you can both pay or be paid points, understanding the no-cost refinance is straightforward.

By accepting a higher rate (but still much lower than your current rate, of course) the lender will use the premium paid for that rate (sometimes called yield spread premium ) to pay your costs.

This is why no-cost refinancing can make so much sense. In the simplest of terms: You lower your mortgage rate, and pay nothing to do so.

For instance: If you are starting at a rate of 5.5%, and you can a) refinance to 4% without paying closing costs, or b) refinance to 3.75% and pay thousands. Which do you choose?

It is awfully hard to build a case for ever paying closing costs unless you know that you will own the home and have the mortgage for the very, very long term.

Bottom line: The additional savings at the incrementally lower full cost rate rarely justifies the expense.

*With a No-Cost, even if you are wrong, you are right

The other great thing about the no-cost refinance? You never need to time the market. You need never hope that you guessed right or beat yourself up if rates fall again.

Because you have paid zero costs, there is zero risk. If rates keep falling, you just do another no cost. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Bottom-Bottom Line: If you are disciplined about doing a no-cost refinance every time rates drop, you effectively guarantee that no matter what happens to interest rates, you will always be within 1/2 point of the lowest mortgage rates ever get, and will never pay a dime to do so.

Finally, despite my erudite clumsy attempt to explain a no-cost refinance above, sometimes it just does not click until you see the no-cost numbers run out against your own loan there s got to be a hook, or a catch somewhere, right?

Anyway, if the idea intrigues you, but you are unsure how this might work in your particular situation (or worried about the hook!) drop me a line and I d be happy to personally run-out the numbers for you.

Becuase when it does click, you will say the same thing as everyone else: Why doesn t everybody do it this way

*A Few Cautionary Notes:

Before you run off seeking a no-cost refinance, it is important to understand a few nuances, and that a no-cost refinance will not work for everyone.

If you are escrowed for taxes and insurance. you will be required to establish an escrow account on the new loan this will normally mean a cash outlay at closing (assume about 6 months taxes and 6 months insurance, but it varies based on the time of year and what state you are in.) This generally works out a wash your current escrow balance will be a refund within 30 days of closing, and you ll skip your regularly scheduled mortgage payment the first of the month following the refinance.

If you are really pressed for cash, most lenders will allow you to add escrow amounts to the loan.

Appraisals matter. Unless you are refinancing an FHA mortgage, you will need an appraisal to refinance, and despite the expanded rules of the Home Affordable Refinance Program, many in-the-money refinances that should happen, won t, due to lack of equity.

Loan Amounts matter. As a general rule, the bigger the loan (up to the conforming limit of $417,000 in MN) the easier it is to do a no-cost. That s because the premium paid for the higher rate is paid as a percentage of the loan amount. 1% of $50,000 is $500.00. 1% of 300,000 is $3,000, which goes a lot further to cover closing costs, many of which are fixed, no matter the loan size.

Steer clear of major national banks that also service mortgages. N0-costs are mostly considered kryptonite by these banks. This is because they also have an interest in the servicing of the loan, and can actually lose money by doing too many no-costs. As a result, they often will do everything they can to talk you out of these, and generally offer weak premiums for above market rates.

Thinking about refinancing? Need a no-cost rate quote?

Whether a no-cost, or not, drop me a line with a few bullet points about what you are looking to do and I will personally reply in short order with some solid numbers.

State car insurance rates

CarInsurance.com commissioned Quadrant Information Services to provide a report of average auto insurance rates for a 2016 Honda Accord for nearly every ZIP code in the United States. We calculated rates using data for up to six large carriers (Allstate, Farmers, GEICO, Nationwide, Progressive and State Farm).

Averages rates are based on full coverage insurance for a married 40-year-old male who commutes 12 miles to work each day, with policy limits of 100/300/100 ($100,000 for injury liability for one person, $300,000 for all injuries and $100,000 for property damage in an accident) and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage. The rate includes uninsured motorist coverage. This hypothetical driver has a clean record and good credit. Average rates are for comparative purposes. Your own rate will depend on your personal factors and vehicle.

Nearly everything having to do with car insurance depends heavily on your state. The resources linked below will help you understand specific laws that may or may not affect you.

What is a tort state? : Thirty-eight states use the tort system, which means that someone is found at fault for every accident that involves car insurance, even if the fault is determined to be 50/50 between two drivers.

What is a no-fault state? : Under the no-fault system, car insurance companies pay for certain damages regardless of who was at fault. Laws vary among the 12 states that have no-fault insurance.

No pay, no play states : In states with no pay, no play laws, driving without insurance is even more risky than in other states. Uninsured drivers in these states are not compensated for any damage, even in accidents that are not their fault.

Which states share speeding ticket information? : Many states have formal agreements with each other, such as the Drivers License Compact and the Non-Resident Violator Compact, to share information regarding traffic tickets when drivers are ticketed out of state.

Refinancing Your Property

There are many reasons you may want to consider refinancing your most important asset. With today’s low interest rates, it may be worthwhile to refinance your existing mortgage to either reduce your monthly payments, or to tap into your home equity to help with your short or long terms goals, including:

  • Renovating your home to improve your property value
  • Consolidating high interest loans and credit cards into one lower monthly payment
  • Investing in your RRSP and using your tax refund to pay down your mortgage
  • Paying for your child’s education
  • Purchasing another property

If your mortgage is closed and you refinance before your renewal date, you may face a penalty. However, it may still be worthwhile to refinance. The key is to determine whether the potential interest-rate savings outweigh the penalty.

You can also add a second mortgage on your property if refinancing your mortgage is not worthwhile. Our Home Trust Equityline Visa Card is a unique alternative to other second mortgage products, with all the flexibility of a line of credit and all the benefits
