Getting a Used Car Trade-In Value from Black Book

Appraising your used car’s trade-in value isn’t an exact science. Trade-in values will vary between regions, times of the month – even between dealerships. For example, the used car manager at a Mercedes-Benz dealership may give you less on your used Kia than the used car manager at the Kia dealership, because it’ll be harder for him to sell.

Using Black Book to Appraise Your Used Car

Knowing your trade-in’s value before you visit your new car dealer is essential. If you don’t know how the industry appraises cars, you won’t be able to effectively negotiate your current car’s appraisal value. So use the Black Book Appraisal form and be sure you’re totally honest when indicating the condition of your trade-in. You’ll get a fair estimate of your used car’s value that you’ll be able to take to the dealer.

Note: The price range shown on your final Black Book Appraisal form is a guideline. The dealer will confirm a final price for your car based on their analysis of market trends and vehicle condition.

Black Book vs. Kelley Blue Book

Both Kelley Blue Book and Black Book gather thousands of data points from auctions, banks and leasing companies all over the country. Black Book® updates its online information daily while Kelley Blue Book or KBB, updates its information weekly.

Traditionally dealers have relied upon Black Book for determining how much they should pay for trade-ins. If you plan to sell your car yourself, you’ll want to also research the Kelley Blue Book® Private Party value, which is typically higher than trade-in value.

Ultimately, whether it’s Black Book or Kelley Blue Book used car values, your trade-in value is dependent on several factors including make, model, year, condition, accessories and mileage.

Different Types of Pricing Strategy

by Leigh Richards

Pricing strategies have a major impact on the marketing effectiveness for companies, large and small.

carrots with price image by Jo Ann Koch from Fotolia.com

Related Articles

Pricing is one of the four elements of the marketing mix, along with product, place and promotion. Pricing strategy is important for companies who wish to achieve success by finding the price point where they can maximize sales and profits. Companies may use a variety of pricing strategies, depending on their own unique marketing goals and objectives.

Premium Pricing

Premium pricing strategy establishes a price higher than the competitors. It s a strategy that can be effectively used when there is something unique about the product or when the product is first to market and the business has a distinct competitive advantage. Premium pricing can be a good strategy for companies entering the market with a new market and hoping to maximize revenue during the early stages of the product life cycle.

Penetration Pricing

A penetration pricing strategy is designed to capture market share by entering the market with a low price relative to the competition to attract buyers. The idea is that the business will be able to raise awareness and get people to try the product. Even though penetration pricing may initially create a loss for the company, the hope is that it will help to generate word-of-mouth and create awareness amid a crowded market category.

Economy Pricing

Economy pricing is a familiar pricing strategy for organizations that include Wal-Mart, whose brand is based on this strategy. Aldi, a food store, is another example of economy pricing strategy. Companies take a very basic, low-cost approach to marketing–nothing fancy, just the bare minimum to keep prices low and attract a specific segment of the market that is very price sensitive.

Price Skimming

Businesses that have a significant competitive advantage can enter the market with a price skimming strategy designed to gain maximum revenue advantage before other competitors begin offering similar products or product alternatives.

Psychological Pricing

Psychological pricing strategy is commonly used by marketers in the prices they establish for their products. For instance, $99 is psychologically less in the minds of consumers than $100. It s a minor distinction that can make a big difference.

The SSAE 18 Reporting Standard SOC 1 SOC 2 SOC 3 Support and Guidance for SSAE18, SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3 reporting standards

Some organizations have heard of SAS 70, SSAE 16. and soon to be SSAE 18. but, don t really know WHY they need to pay to have a bunch of auditors trounce through their company for a month or two during the year, especially right after their financial audit just finished.
The answer is simple: Many companies will not even think about using your company to perform services for them without a clean Type II Report in place.
Some benefits of having an SSAE 16 performed :

  • Ability to perform outsourcing services for Public Companies.
    • If performing financially significant duties for a Public Company, they are required to use a SSAE 16 qualified provider as it is the only way to give investors assurance over controls that are not performed by the Company in question.
  • Public and Private companies are more likely to trust your organization with their data.
    • If you were to trust a company with your data, you would want complete assurance it will be handled with the utmost care
  • A year round accessible knowledge source (your auditors).
    • As a service organization, large or small, you will always have questions regarding your business and having a set of auditors in place with access to a wide array of business knowledge, it will allow you to bounce your questions and concerns off of a group of trusted individuals.
  • A third party to review your controls and activities to ensure they are functioning appropriately, and give advice on how to improve upon them.
    • Sometimes your internal audit department is good, but, not always as stringent as they should be. This will help to serve as a check on their work, as well as your staff. Additionally, if there were any findings noted, your auditors are in a great position to give you some tricks and tips to improve to ensure everything functions well the following period.
  • Improving performance of the organization.
    • Just the knowledge that a review is being performed of an employee s work that can have far reaching consequences for the company as a whole. No more, Oh, I didn t realize that reviewing user access was THAT important to do this month, sorry , now, everyone knows that if it s not done, the success or failure of the organization could rest upon them.

Think of the SSAE 16 or SSAE-18 audit as an annual investment into your company, increasing potential new clients. productivity and accountability .

This tip is focused on designing controls that reflect the process being testing, if they don t, a headache of massive proportions will be created once testing begins.
What do you do to make sure you don t screw this up? Have as many meetings as it takes to get it right.
What you need to do is sit down with the auditors, the department lead, the main employees responsible for performing the process, and anyone else whom could either play a role in testing or modifying the control in the future. Once that is done, Management should discuss what they determined the control to be and how it should operate, that is then reviewed by the auditors, and then the employees performing the tasks should be reconsulted to verify that the control still reflects their process accurately.
Many times people try to speed this process up and half-ass it, leaving many open items which upon testing could easily blow up into a huge problem. When the control isn t 100% agreed upon prior to testing and a deviation is noted, it s a tough call between failing the control and the ability to adjust it to accurately reflect the process. The problem is modifying a control after testing has begun is not proper and needs to be avoided at all costs.
Locking the controls locked down early on could save weeks in wrapping up your new SSAE 16 Report.
We have seen issues like this cause delays in issuing of the report to the client and running additional fees, since adjusting controls isn t free. Coming from the perspective of the auditor, we can let you know the pitfalls, consequences and how to best navigate the audit process. If you have any comments or questions please leave them below!

A SOC 1 Report (System and Organization Controls Report ) is a report on Controls at a Service Organization which are relevant to user entities’ internal control over financial reporting. The SOC1 Report is what you would have previously considered to be the standard SAS70, complete with a Type I and Type II reports, but falls under the SSAE 16 guidance (and soon to be SSAE 18 ).

Please see the following articles discussing the SSAE 16 guidance and additional information related to the SOC 1 (Type I and Type II) Reports:

In addition to the SOC 1 report which is restricted to controls relevant to an audit of a user entity’s financial statements, the SOC 2 and SOC 3 reports have been created to address controls relevant to operations and compliance and will be discussed in further detail in the future.

Please see the SOC 1 Reporting Guide page for additional information.

SSAE 16 is an enhancement to the current standard for Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization, the SAS70. The changes made to the standard will bring your company, and the rest of the companies in the US, up to date with new international service organization reporting standards, the ISAE 3402. The adjustments made from SAS 70 to SSAE 16 will help you and your counterparts in the US compete on an international level; allowing companies around the world to give you their business with complete confidence .

SSAE16 is now effective as of June 15, 2011, and if you have not made the necessary adjustments required, now is the time to find a quality provider to discuss the proper steps. All organizations are now required to issue their Service Auditor Reports under the SSAE 16 standards in an SOC 1 Report.

The soon to be effective, SSAE-18. is expected to follow a similar reporting structure to the SSAE-16 within a SOC 1 report.

Who Needs an SSAE 16 (SOC 1 ) Audit?

If your Company (the Service Organization ) performs outsourced services that affect the financial statements of another Company (the User Organization ), you will more than likely be asked to provide an SSAE16 Type II Report, especially if the User Organization is publicly traded.
Some example industries include:

  • Payroll Processing
  • Loan Servicing
  • Data Center /Co-Location/Network Monitoring Services
  • Software as a Service (SaaS )
  • Medical Claims Processors

What you Need to Know:

Before starting the SSAE 16 process, there are a number of considerations one must take into account that can save considerable time, effort, and money in the long run. Use the following items as a mini checklist for yourself:

  • Does my Company need an SSAE16, or, are we doing it just because someone asked?
  • Reports on the low end can run at least $15,000 a year, will the business lost be less of a burden than the cost of the report itself?
  • Does your company have defined Business Process and IT controls in place, or, will you need assistance developing and implementing them (readiness assessment)?
  • Have you determined the controls in place which affect the outsourced services being provided?
  • Have key stakeholders been defined and included in discussions?

There are many other issues to consider before engaging a CPA firm to help with your SSAE 16, for a more detailed checklist please see The SSAE 16 Checklist

A Big “Thank You” to April1 for all the work he did and I benefited!

Exactly one week ago today, I PM April1 asking about cable and software for coding. On Monday, he shipped the package via USPS Priority Mail and I got it on Wednesday.

The package was professionally done, with labels on the flash drive and cable. Very nice!!

I followed this thread and others about coding, and finally decided that it was time, but links to the software was no where to be found. Fortunately April1 was the one-stop-shop for all my coding needs.

Last Sunday after April1 confirmed he had everything I need, I started preparing my Windows XP laptop computer and read up on the instructions.

Wednesday night I copied Apirl1’s flash drive onto my hard drive, installed the software, studied the instructions, made some notes to get ready for Thursday night’s connection to my 2013 X3.

Thursday night came, I was careful to disable anti-virus software and Windows firewall, and turned off my laptop’s WiFi and Bluetooth. I also made sure I turned of all lights (automatic headlights, daylight running lights, and dome lights) in the car to conserve power. I followed the instructions to connect to my car. I was able to read the CAF file from my car and did a backup.

I had originally planned on doing just that on Thursday night. However, the process was so easy that I went on to code.

    I successfully:

    1. disabled iDrive legal disclaimer during iDrive startup
    2. disbaled camera legal disclaimer
    3. added pressure and temperature readings to the TPMS screen
    4. enabled DVD in motion

I tried but wasn’t able to enable turn signal on HUD.

April1’s cable and software bundle, detailed instructions and screen shots in the “E-Sys – Getting Started Coding” PDF files paved the way to my quick success.

I greatly appreciate the contribution of all who went before me and so generously shared their knowledge!

    Pricing Philosophy

Fitzgerald Auto Malls are Posted Price Dealers, that is, our Pricing Philosophy is to post the FitzWay Low Price on the Internet and on every vehicle so you will always know our final selling price. We continually shop our competition so you don’t have to but if you do find a lower price on a new vehicle, we will match it with our FitzWay Price Match Plus.

    The FitzWay Low Price

The FitzWay Low Price is our lowest price. It includes freight, the manufacturers’ warranty and any manufacturer’s loaner car benefits. It also includes manufacturer rebates and incentives, including customer satisfaction, available to all consumers.

You may qualify for additional rebates and incentives such as college graduate, military, or owner loyalty (current owners of a particular brand vehicle) and “conquest” incentives (this discount applies to all first-time brand buyers). Ask your sales representative to check if these and other financial incentives apply to you.

With the FitzWay Low Price. there are no additional fees to pay except governmental charges where you title the vehicle (taxes, title and tags fees) and the Dealer Processing Charge. Please keep this in mind when comparing prices. Use the Fitzgerald Low Price to compare our prices with those of other dealers.

    The FitzWay Price Match Plus

Our FitzWay Price Match Plus guarantees we will match the best price you get from our competitor in our market or a buying service when you buy a new vehicle from Fitzgerald Auto Malls. FitzWay Price Match Plus means that, excluding factory price changes, you will not find a bona-fide lower price for an identical vehicle through a competitor or from a buying service in our market area within 5 days before and 5 days after your purchase.

If you find a lower bona-fide price from our competitor in our market or a Buying Service, excluding factory price changes, bring us the evidence of their offer (signed purchase contract, emailed certificate) and we will reduce our price PLUS give you $100 towards the purchase of the vehicle from Fitzgerald.

The Difference between Traditional and Posted Price Dealers

Posted Price dealers such as Fitzgerald Auto Malls, advertise what are called Delivered Prices. The Delivered Price does not include any extra “add-ons” and every vehicle is offered at discounted prices every day of the year. The Delivered Price is the only price that cannot be increased by a dealer. At traditional dealers, the advertised price is not the final price. It is only the beginning negotiating price. A traditional dealer price is always increased with extra charges and dealer add-ons.

Compare our advertisements with those from other car dealers and you’ll find ours are very straight-forward and informative. Because our ads contain products from many manufacturers, our advertising costs are reduced which lowers our final selling price. The advertising savings plus additional savings of inventory and selling expenses result in the lowest prices in the market.

    Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)

The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is an excellent way to compare new vehicle prices. If you are comparing our prices with prices from other dealers, make sure that the MSRP is the same. Depending on the make and model, some vehicles may have certain options included in “option packages” and others may have many of the same options priced separately. The posted prices on our vehicles show the option packages and separate options (if included) on each new vehicle.

    What is a Hosted Desktop?

The term Hosted Desktop covers a range of technologies and services that are designed to provide a virtual computer desktop environment, with all its range of applications and utilities, that runs not on the individuals PC, but on a hosted computer in a dedicated data centre and accessed over the Internet. Read More

How does a Hosted Desktop run?

A Hosted Desktop is commonly run a Windows server based operating system which has a familiar look and feel to people used to working on a Windows PC. Hosted Desktops are accessed using a Remote Desktop “Client” application such as: Microsoft Terminal Services Client, Microsoft Remote Desktop Client or other 3rd party applications such as Ericom Blaze. Remote Desktop software is available for most operating systems so the hosted desktop can be accessed from a wide range of devices including Windows PCS, Tablets, Mac OS X, iOS (iPads, iPhones) and Android tablets and phones.

Hosted Desktops – How providers operate

Hosted Desktop providers typically operate from secure industry standard data centres which provide the security and resilience expected by enterprise class organisations but are shared across hundreds or thousands of individual customers, all benefitting from the economies of scale. Hosted Desktops often have features including: multiple Internet connections for resilience; multiple power supplies into the data centre, with diesel generators to cover power cuts and battery UPS to cover the transition. Other security measures will included 24hr security, CCTV, fire, smoke and flood detection and secure building entry control measures.

    Characteristics of a Hosted Desktop

Hosted Desktops were designed as a solution to improve application sharing across multiple sites, remote working and the ability to scale up or down easily. They are also an easy and simple route into IT outsourcing.

A Hosted Desktop platform usually includes all the surrounding infrastructure and support services needed to securely connect over the Internet. This will include user authentication, digital certificates to encrypt communication, backups of data and operating systems as well as anti-virus, Windows updates and general server support.

A Hosted Desktop may also be found under other names including: Hosted Remote Desktops, Hosted Terminal Servers, Hosted Remote Desktop Servers, Cloud Desktops or Hosted VDI.

    Hosted Desktop Pricing

Pricing for hosted desktops is usually on a per user basis often with an initial monthly charge for the first desktop application which will also include any Microsoft Licences such as Windows Server CALs (Client Access Licences) and Remote Desktop CALs.

Additional products or services can then be added as required including additional resources (memory, CPU), extra storage and also additional services such as SQL Server instances or web servers. Providers can also include licences for other Microsoft products including Microsoft Office, Project or Visio, mostly these will be offered under the Service Provider Licence Agreement (SPLA) licencing model. Some providers base their pricing on the actual resources required e.g. x GB of Memory. Others offer a more managed service where the customer doesn’t need to know the technicalities of the service only what applications and how many users.

    New Vehicle Invoice Pricing Directory

Consumers should understand that manufacturers DO NOT officially provide invoice cost information to anyone. And since there are no officially authorized sources for invoice pricing information, AUTOPEDIA provides access to pricing information from over 50 sources as well as links to all manufacturer internet sites. Consumers will also find discrepencies between the sources, with each source providing slightly different versions of the same information. There are also differences in the overall amount of data provided and how that data is structured, with some sites being downright confusing. (Just look at the explanation between two different “invoice costs” at this site. and see if you aren’t confused.)

You can sell your used car or it can be used for a car donation for tax purposes on your online tax return or whatever reason you might have. Having a better idea of new vehicle invoice pricing could help you significantly in estimating how low you might be able to haggle with your sales person for your brand new vehicle. With these sources and links to additional information you should be well prepared.

Polymer Paint Sealant vs. Carnauba Wax

Paint sealants are very different from carnauba waxes. Carnauba car wax begins as a natural substance derived from a Brazilian tree leaf. In its pure form carnauba is an ideal automobile paint protectant. However, store bought carnauba wax is blended with so many other ingredients and has such a low degree of the actual wax that it usually offers only a short period of protection.

Part Pricing: Salvage Auto Parts #insurance #auto

    #

By philosophy and design, our pricing structure is intentionally simple and cost reducing.

Pull-A-Part’s pricing model is unique, but makes perfect sense…so it is easy to understand. Each specific part has the same price, regardless of the make, model or year of the car in which you find it. So the price for a 6-cylinder engine is fixed, whether it is in a 1972 Plymouth Fury or 1996 Mercedes. Simple, Easy and huge savings – that is the Pull-A-Part way.

Here is how you read our price list:

    1. Find the part you are looking for. Search by a keyword or start with the first letter of the part name or simply click ALL to see the entire price list.
    2. There is also what is called a “Core Charge” on some parts. The core charge, sometimes called a core price, is a form of deposit you pay until returning your old part. If you don’t have the core at the time of purchase, you must pay the core charge. That charge is refunded to you when you return the core of the old part. So if you do not have the old part you will have to pay this core charge – if you do have it then you will not have to pay this charge.
    3. Taxes and a small regulatory/environmental fee is charged to each transaction.

    Pull-A-Part Cares About Your Safety!

Pull-A-Part makes no representations or warrantees as to the usability of any tires. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to have tires professionally inspected, mounted and installed.

Tire carcasses are provided at no cost and are deemed to be unfit for road use on a passenger vehicle and should not be utilized for such use under any circumstances.

Driving on damaged tires is dangerous. A damaged tire can suddenly fail leading to situations that may result in serious personal injury or death. Tires should be regularly inspected by a qualified tire service professional.

    #how to sell your car
    #

Pricing a Used Car to Sell

When you’ve decided it’s time to sell your car, the first thing to determine is a realistic price.

There are many factors that affect a sales price, including the car’s condition and mileage, as well as what the market will bear in your area. Fortunately, arriving at a fair price is easy thanks to the tools available on the Internet and some basic knowledge you have of your vehicle.

Step 1: Gather Information About Your Car

The first step is to gather all the necessary information about your car that will affect its value. Take a notepad and jot down the year, make, model and trim level. Next, note any optional features your car has, such as a leather seating package or rear seat entertainment system.

It’s a good idea to consult your original sales paperwork or window sticker to be sure you haven’t missed anything. Optional features can often add a substantial amount to your car’s resale value, so be sure to include all of them when you make your calculation.

If you’ve added aftermarket items, such as an upgraded stereo system or different wheels, you can expect to get a little more for the car, but in most cases you won’t be able to recoup your entire investment.

Note the current mileage on your vehicle. Consult your owner’s manual for the various warranties that came with your vehicle to determine if it’s still under warranty. Your car’s bumper-to-bumper warranty may have expired, but there may still time or miles left on its powertrain warranty, for example. A car that is still under warranty is more desirable than a car whose warranty has expired.

If you purchased an extended warranty through the dealer or a third party, locate that paperwork to determine if that warranty is still in effect. what its terms are and whether it is transferable. You’ll also need to determine if there is a transfer fee and decide whether you or the buyer will pay it.

Take a good look at the condition of your car. You’ll need this information to rate the car when you go to obtain your used car price. Items such as large (or multiple) door dings or paint scratches will reduce the car’s value, as will stains or severely worn upholstery.

To help get the highest price, consider getting your vehicle detailed by a professional. Depending on the number and location of door dings, you may also want to hire an expert to remove those. The small cost can often be worth it to help you sell your car quickly, particularly if you have a lot of small dents or if they are in particularly noticeable locations, such as on the driver’s door or in the curve of the body.

Next review any paperwork you received from the manufacturer since you purchased the car. Make note of any recall notices and, using your receipts from your dealer, confirm that they were corrected.

Make special note if you received any extended warranty notices from the manufacturer, such as if there was a problem with the engine that resulted in the manufacturer extending the powertrain warranty. Proof that these things have been taken care of will make your sale easier.

Locate all your receipts and repair orders for all the maintenance and repairs completed since you’ve owned the car. If you haven’t kept them, your dealer or independent mechanic should be able to print a statement that summarizes each visit. Having this information will put a new buyer at ease that the car has been well cared for and will help you get a higher sales price.

If your car needs a repair or its regular maintenance, consider having that done before you put it on the market. If you choose not to, then get a quote for the work and factor the estimate into the selling price.

Step 2: Research Local Used Car Values

Once you’ve gathered all your notes about your car, it’s time to research used car prices for similar cars in your area. Start by obtaining prices through all of the major pricing sites online, such as AutoTrader.com’s pricing tool. Kelley Blue Book and NADAguides.com .

Be sure to have your notes handy, as you’ll need that information to obtain a used car value on each site. You will likely find that the prices vary somewhat, because each company uses somewhat different methodology and data to calculate prices.

AutoTrader.com’s pricing tool. for example, uses its classified listings to calculate how many cars are available locally that are similar to the seller’s, while KBB.com looks at actual consumer sales each year to calculate its price.

Once you’ve researched used car prices online, consult your local newspaper and other publications that run classifieds in your area to look for cars similar to yours. Compare the prices in the ads to the online pricing reports you’ve gathered to see how they stack up.

If there are a lot of similar vehicles for sale in your area, you may want to use your notepad to make a list of the ads, including the prices, mileage and major differences between the vehicles, such as engine, trim level and options.

    Step 3: Determine Your Price

Now that you’ve gathered information about your car and prices for similar cars, look at the range of prices you’ve found in your research. Choosing a number within that range is only logical, but how do you decide whether to go low, high or in the middle? If you don’t own your car outright, be sure to call your lender to determine the cost to pay off your car. The sale price you choose should take that into consideration.

A good idea is to start in the middle of the range and add or deduct from that point. You might add to the price if your car is in top-notch condition or has very low miles, such as an average of 7,000 miles per year or fewer. (Just remember that the range you’ve arrived at has taken condition and mileage into consideration already.)

Optional features, a car that is still under warranty, an extended warranty and proof that you’ve completed regular maintenance are all things that will help you get the higher price in the range. As a result, you’ll want to factor them in when determining your price—and also note them in your ad.

You might also boost the price if you’ve just completed a major scheduled maintenance, such as a 60,000-mile service, or if you’ve just purchased a new set of tires or installed new brakes, though keep in mind that since these are considered part of regular wear and tear, you’ll only be able to justify adding to them to the price if they are nearly new.

Similarly, you might price your car lower than average if it needs a major scheduled service, new tires or brakes and you want the buyer to take care of that. You might also drop the price if you need to make a quick sale. Finally, it’s usually a wise idea to leave some room in your price for negotiating with prospective buyers .

With thorough research and taking all these details into consideration, you’re well on your way to an easy and successful sale. Soon you’ll be cruising in your new ride.

    Mercedes-Benz Overview

    Price Range (MSRP): $29,900 (CLA-Class ) to $116,600 (CL-Class )

Mercedes-Benz, the storied German luxury automaker, offers several exciting changes to its 2015 lineup including a full redesign for the popular C-Class sedan and the new GLA-Class small SUV.

The CLA-Class debuted last year and though it may be the most affordable car in Mercedes-Benz lineup, it certainly doesn t look it. It has four doors, but Mercedes is found of calling it a coupe thanks to its dramatic, curvy styling and short front/rear overhangs. It offers Mercedes luxury and attention to detail, along with a peppy turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission.

Next is the C-Class. which is offered as a coupe as well as a sedan. The coupe continues unchanged for the new model year but the sedan has been completely redone from the wheels up. It now sports all-aluminum body work which saves weight, brand new styling inside and out, and the latest safety technology you ll find in any car on the road.

The E-Class represents the next level up, offering more power and interior space, and also great flexibility, available as a sedan, coupe, convertible, or a wagon. For 2015, the E400 replaces the E350 variants of the coupe/convertible, and the E550 variant of the sedan.

Sitting atop the totem pole is the flagship S-Class line of full-size sedans which represent the pinnacle of luxury. The S-Class was redesigned last year, adding new exterior styling and some of the most advanced tech on the road today. There is also a hybrid version for those who want better fuel economy. For 2015, it adds a coupe version which replaces the outgoing CL-Class. The two-door keeps all of the luxury of the four-door model but in a sleeker, more streamlined package.

The ground-breaking CLS-Class features swoopy coupe styling but also four doors for practicality. It gets new front and rear bumpers, as well as an interior design refresh for 2015. The exterior highlights include LED headlights which use 71 individual LEDs to make up the headlights, turn signals, etc.

Luxury isn t the only thing going on at Mercedes they also produce a few sports cars. The SLK-Class of two-seater hardtop convertibles offers the very cool Magic Sky Control roof, which can adjust the tint of the ceiling glass with the touch of a button to let different amounts of light into the cabin.

The upscale two-seater SL-Class is the larger of two production sports cars in Mercedes lineup. The convertible hardtop adds a new variant for 2015, the SL400. and carries a long, long list of interior features (including a beverage cooler in the glove box).

For something with a little bit more utility than a sports car, Mercedes-Benz offers several different crossovers/SUVs, each bringing something different to the table.

The brand-new GLA-Class is now the smallest SUV offered by the German automaker. In some ways it appears to be more wagon than SUV, with a sleek shape that offers a high seating position preferred by some drivers, but not as much utility as a more traditionally shaped SUV. The GLA-Class shares a chassis and other technology, including powertrains, with the CLA-Class .

The GLK-Class is a compact luxury crossover with seating for five, optional all-wheel drive, and the interior refinement you d expect from a Mercedes.

The M-Class. which also features two-rows of seats for up to five passengers the offers luxury features like real eucalyptus wood trim pieces and standard all-wheel drive.

If you need more seating then the GL-Class with seating for seven has you covered.

There is one true SUV in the stable as well, the rugged G-Class which has the looks to match its off-road chops. The G-Class also doubles as one of the most luxurious cars in Mercedes lineup so you ll be in comfort no matter where you end up.

Finally, Mercedes also offers a class of Sprinter commercial vans for business applications.

The CL-Class has been discontinued for 2015. It has been rolled into the S-Class line as the S-Class coupe for the new model year.

Part Pricing: Salvage Auto Parts #certified #used #cars

Helpful Tips for Pricing Your Used Car to Sell Online.

    * A sample of prices taken from a search on AutoHopper shows that simply lowering your price from $13,500 to $13,499 will put your used car ad ahead of 8 others when buyers sort by price.

Pricing your used car to sell online.

One important thing to remember when selling your used car online is to price it competitively. Most people looking to buy a car online have access to many vehicles for sale, and many car prices from which to compare. Most people simply list their used car at its book value and their buyer response suffers because of it.

What is the book price of my used car?

The book price of your car may also be referred to as any of the following: black book price, blue book price, book value, KBB price, NADA price, or Edmunds price. All of these mean the same thing, but may vary slightly. These are pricing guidelines established for most all used cars, used by dealerships and private-sellers alike. Some actually publish a book and most all have online pricing.

How do I determine the price of my used car?

To determine the price of your used car, go to any of the following websites:

    Keley Blue Book – www.kbb.com

    Edmunds – www.edmunds.com

    NADA – www.nadaguides.com

You are looking for the Private Party Value of your car. This is an estimate of the price you should expect to receive when selling your used car to another individual.

How should I price my car according to the book value?

This is always a tricky one. Price your car at book value or higher, if your car is in high demand, hard to find, or uniquely customized. If your car is fairly popular and there are many for sale like it, then you should probably price the car slightly below its book value. Remember that everyone has access to online car prices and most car sellers use these to find their asking price. You want to set your ad apart from all of your competition. The old "99" trick works when pricing your car.

No matter how you look at it, $499 is more attractive than $500. Not only does it seem like less money, it allows your ad to show up closer to the top of searches that are typically ordered by price. Knocking a few hundred dollars off of your asking price may put your vehicle ahead of others just like it and make it more attractive to car buyers.

Adjust your price with the rate of response from buyers.

Last but not least, keep an eye on your classified ad. If you are not receiving any inquiries from interested buyers, then you may want to lower your price.

Kelley Blue Book Used Pricing Guide

Photo by Greg Gjerdingen, Flickr .

Determining the fair market value of a used car is easy with the Kelley Blue Book used car pricing guide. By simply filling in a little information (year, make, model, mileage, and vehicle condition) Kelley Blue Book will estimate the car’s value, which in turn can be used during any one of a myriad of buying decisions.

How Kelley Blue Book Determines Used Car Value

As an unbiased source for information, KBB used pricing information adds an authoritative element to the negotiation process, helping both the buyer and seller make a well-informed decision.

In order to determine a fair unbiased price, KBB takes into factors in a number of key influencers these include:

Market Demand: Depending on the area in which the vehicle is being sold, demand or lack thereof can impact the used vehicle’s value. This means that a used car sold in New York may be valued differently when compared to a used car sold in Iowa.

Condition: Condition of a vehicle will have a major impact on its value. Unfortunately this is also subject to personal opinion, meaning that it is easy to overestimate or underestimate the vehicle’s current condition.

Optional Feature: There is a definite difference between a car with no extras and a car with a full array of high-tech and comfort features.  Kelley Blue Book pricing takes this into account when determining the value of a vehicle.

Mileage: The average mileage for a vehicle is 15,000 miles a year. Any vehicle that has been driven more or less should have their value calculated accordingly.

By taking the above criteria into account, the Kelley Blue Book used car pricing guide can be used to help buyers and sellers establish:

    • Trade-in-Value
    • Private Party Value
    • Retail Value

    Defining Trade-in-Value

Kelley Blue Book lists the trade in value of a vehicle. This is the amount you could expect to receive from the dealer if you used it in trade for another vehicle. Keep in mind that this assumes an accurate appraisal of the vehicle, meaning that both you and the dealer must offer unbiased opinions about the vehicle’s current worth.

It is also important to note that the trade-in-value is often less than you would receive if you sold the car yourself.  However, while you may not receive top dollar, there are a number of advantages – including:

Guaranteed Sell: Selling a car privately can take months. But you can take your car to the dealer and get rid of it in as little as one afternoon.

Hassle Free: You do not have to deal with the added cost and hassle of cleaning your car and listing it in a classified section.

As-Is: Besides taking your car to the carwash, emptying the trash and running the vacuum, you can pretty much give your car to the dealer “As Is”.

    Defining Private Party Value

The Kelley Blue Book used private party value is what you can expect to pay if you bought the car used from the dealer. Or, it can represent the value you should expect to receive when selling your used car privately (i.e. not trading it to the dealership).

Remember, the private party value is by no means a static figure, and it can change depending on:

Warranty: If there is a warranty attached to the vehicle, the dealer’s asking price can fluctuate. Often, when dealers are including a warranty on a used vehicle, they will inflate the price to cover possible liability on their part.

Vehicle Condition: If the dealer determines the vehicle to be in excellent condition, this will drive up the price. Be skeptical if this happens. Kelley Blue Book estimates that only 5% of all used vehicles are in excellent condition.

    Defining Retail Value

The Kelley Blue Book used suggested retail value represents the average dealer asking price. Keep in mind that this should serve as a starting point for negotiations and is no way representative of the final amount you should pay. In fact, the final sale price will likely be less depending on:

    • Condition
    • Popularity
    • Warranty
    • Local Market Conditions

This retail value also takes into account the dealers profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business.

In the end, Kelley Blue Book used car pricing can serve as a good barometer for buying and selling a vehicle. When used in conjunction with your own independent research, it can ensure that you get a price that is fair.
