New Car Rebates & Auto Incentives

Cash back new car rebates, auto incentives, even zero percent financing on cars and trucks are frequently offered by automobile manufacturers as a means to lure us to their showrooms.

And let’s face facts, it works. None of us want to pay full sticker price, but how do you know if you are getting the most for your automobile incentives and rebates? The best new car incentives for November 2015 maybe completely different the next month. Let LotPro.com help you with all of this, we list all the national new car incentives published by the auto makers month to month.

New Car Incentives & Auto Rebates by Manufacturer

Biggest Hatchback & Wagon Incentives & Rebates:

    Additional Information For Automobile Incentives

Lotpro.com works hard to keep all automobile incentives, new car rebates, financing and lease special offers up-to-date. Due to frequent changes of regional offers and dealer specials, we strongly recommend submitting a request for local vehicle incentives to the new car price quote to get the best and most accurate specials currently being offered.

    Regional Incentives

Regional promotions apply only to specific areas of the country. These may be offered by your local dealer depending on their inventory and demand of certain vehicles. National and regional auto incentives cannot be combined.

    Dealer Incentive

Special deals and offers are provided by the manufacturer to dealers to help energize sales or relieve inventory pressure on certain models. These vary widely from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model. The most common dealer incentives are cash credits upon sale of specific vehicles, cash bonuses based on target sales volumes, or earned incentives when purchasing vehicles from the manufacturer.

    Federal Tax Incentives

Currently, Federal tax rebates for electric vehicles 2015 are not calculated in Lotpro.com possible rebates. This applies also to the hybrid tax credit and any tax incentives for diesel vehicles as well. We recommend that buyers interested in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, diesel, or electric vehicle tax credit visit the government tax incentive information center for more information on hybrid tax incentives 2015 instead.

Falling U.S. used-car prices will drive up new-car incentives

Cars wait at a stoplight a morning commuter crosses the street in Times Square in Manhattan in New York January 22, 2014.

    Reuters/Brendan McDermid

DETROIT The U.S. auto industry will have to offer more discounts to maintain demand as prices for used cars decline.

With auto sales recovering from their recession-era slump, the industry’s supply of used cars has started to rise again, driving down prices.

This in turn will pressure new-car prices and raise the stakes for automakers, which have enjoyed the new-car sales renaissance of the last 4-1/2 years.

To achieve annual sales above pre-recession levels of about 17 million new vehicles, “the automakers are going to have to increase incentives more,” said Larry Dominique, executive vice president of research firm TrueCar Inc.

TrueCar estimates used-car prices will drop 5.2 percent by 2017, while new-car incentives, now at about $2,700 per vehicle, will rise about 11 percent over the next two years to nearly $3,000. The National Automobile Dealers Association forecasts a nearly 7 percent decline in the average used-car price to just under $15,000 in 2016 from $16,025 in 2014.

Meanwhile, new-car prices are rising because of the popularity of pricey features and more-expensive vehicles. They hit an average of $31,262 per vehicle last year and are expected to increase another 2 percent both this year and next, TrueCar said.

U.S. new-car sales averaged 16.7 million vehicles annually in the decade that ended in 2007, but they skidded to 10.4 million in 2009. Demand rose at a double-digit pace in the three subsequent years, increased another 8 percent to 15.6 million last year, and is expected to top 16 million this year.

Many of those cars, especially the ones coming off three-year lease deals, will be resold as used.

Dominique said the average age of cars on the road, now topping 11 years, would creep down as newer-model used vehicles enter the market.

    Not everyone agrees.

Pete DeLongchamps, vice president of U.S. dealer Group 1 Automotive Inc, said that while used-car prices would continue to drop, pent-up demand for new cars remained strong because so many people delayed buying during the recession.

“There will be some shift in pricing, but I don’t think it’s enough to affect the market,” he said.

Group 1, which derives most of its earnings from parts, service and financing, sold almost as many used cars as new ones in its latest quarter. Still, used models accounted for only about 13 percent of gross profit, compared with almost 20 percent from new.

Industry officials said still-high used-car prices had room to slip without significantly hurting new-car demand.

“This is a long-term, regular cycle,” NADA analyst David Wagner said, “and not a bubble.”

But while the auto industry, including U.S. automakers General Motors Co and Ford Motor Co, largely refrained from dramatically increasing profit-sapping incentives after the recession, experts have questioned whether that will hold given pressures the companies will face to increase sales and maintain share as demand growth slows.

“As the wholesale prices decline with respect to new vehicles, clearly it’s a negative,” said Tom Webb, chief economist for wholesale car auction company Manheim. “You can get in somewhat of a downward spiral.”

GM Incentives and Lease Deals for December 2015

Car sales have been very strong this year, but GM has lots of leftover models they need to get rid of, so they’re offering lots of cash back rebates on remaining 2015 models as the 2016s take over showrooms.

The average incentive per vehicle is currently $3,660, up 7% compared to the same time last year.

There are large cash-back rebates and hidden dealer rebates available mostly on the leftover models and trucks, such as $3,500 cash back on the Chevrolet Cruze, and $2,500 on the Chevrolet Silverado. GM is also offering financing as low as 0% on most models.

Here are the maximum rebates and dealer cash available nationwide. (Note: incentives can vary greatly by region; these figures may not be accurate in your local area. Always verify with your local dealers) Tip: Be sure to use TrueCar and Edmunds Price Promise (They both have good pre-negotiated prices)

    Comeback for auto incentives?

    Posted: 7 am ET

The Detroit Free Press has an article this week on how car makers are revving up incentives:

Several major automakers today launched a new round of incentives to keep February’s strong sales momentum heading into spring.

General Motors, whose February sales surged 46.4 percent from a year earlier after it had industry-leading incentives, today launched a new set of deals including offering zero-percent financing for 60 or 72 months on 2011 pickups and full-sized SUVs, including $2,500 cash back. Customers can get even more if they finance through Ally or GM Financial.

Chrysler, meanwhile, extended its “No Charge Hemi” promotion on Ram 1500 pickups and is offering $2,000 rebates on leases of the 2011 200.

“They did come out with a very broad range of incentives,” said Dan Frost, owner of Southfield Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Telegraph Dodge Chrysler Jeep. “Now we’re back into competing with Ford and GM again.”

Ford also announced new discounts on its F-150 pickup.

These deals sound pretty good, especially the zero percent auto loans being offered by GM, but I’m not sure they’re anything to write home about compared to what was available even a few months ago. Tracking individual incentives is all well and good, but I think a better number for figuring out whether there are deals to be had at America’s car dealerships is the percentage of a vehicle’s MSRP people end up paying on average.

According to the most recent numbers from the wonks at CNW Research, it’s a pretty bad time to be looking for a discount on a new car. January 2011 saw buyers paying the biggest percentage of cars’ MSRPs (86.48 percent) since at least January 2005. January 2011’s numbers are up from an average of 82.28 percent in 2010 and a low of 75.14 percent in 2009.

I’m not really that surprised by these numbers, as German and Japanese automakers haven’t, in my experience, ever been that enthusiastic about offering big incentives on their vehicles, and one of the big lessons Detroit learned from their setbacks in the aughts was that overproducing and discounting wasn’t a viable business model. Ford’s leadership in particular has publically said they’d rather sell fewer cars with a better profit margin on each than the other way around.

Maybe the coming months will be a lot different than January 2011, but with automakers fielding healthy profits and the economy on the mend, I doubt we’ll see incentives anywhere near what they were when automakers were trying to cut any deal they could in mid-2009.

I guess the takeaway is, if you really need to buy a new car in the next few months, it’s probably a good idea to at least look at some of these deals. But if you’re sitting on the fence about whether to buy a new car, I’d wait a few months to see if there’s a significant uptick in incentives, especially if gas reaches $4 this summer as many are projecting. Ford Deals: Buy or Lease a Ford 2016 Best Truck Brand Winner

Ford Financing, Cash Back and Lease Offers for November 2015

November Ford deals feature large discounts as part of their Ford Friends and Neighbors pricing event. which includes no-haggle prices that are close to the dealer invoice prices on many Ford models. However, Ford has raised interest rates to between 0.9 and 1.9 percent for three years on most vehicles, so while prices are lower, financing charges are higher. Interest rates for six-year loans are now 4.9 to 5.9 percent. Many rivals, including Hyundai and Chevrolet. are still offering zero percent financing on their vehicles, so you may be able to find a better deal by shopping around. Ford continues to offer bonus cash incentives on many models if you finance through Ford, and you can get a Ford rebate if you prefer to pay cash or finance through your own lender. Most Ford lease deals feature monthly payments under $300, provided you put a few thousand dollars down.

This November, the 2016 Ford Focus. which starts at $17,225, is available with 5.9 percent financing for six years and $250 bonus cash. Hyundai is offering a much better deal on the 2016 Elantra. which starts at $17,250. You can get a 2016 Elantra with zero percent financing for six years and $1,500 bonus cash. If you choose the Elantra over the Focus, you’ll save more than $4,400 over the course of your loan.

If you’re interested in a lease, the 2016 Ford Escape is available for $229 per month for three years with $2,609 due at signing. For comparison, the 2016 Mazda CX-5 is available for $269 per month for 39 months with nothing due at signing and no payment for the first month. If you went with the Mazda deal, you’d save more than $630 over the course of your lease, and you’d get the vehicle for three extra months.

    Incentives

Using new car incentives to your advantage is a smart way to get a good deal. Most often offered through the manufacturer, an incentive can lower the overall cost of a car through a reduction in the terms of the lease or the finance interest rate. Although incentives are subject to eligibility requirements, if you have a decent credit score, it’s possible to get a better deal.

The two most common types of manufacturer incentives are:

    • Customer incentives .
    • Dealership incentives .

    Customer Vehicle Incentives

Customer incentives provide savings from the manufacturer directly to the consumer. These incentives often require potential buyers to purchase a vehicle before a specified date. Qualification is based on your credit score.

    Common customer incentives include:

    • Lease incentives.
      • These are based on residual value —the amount a car depreciates by the end of a lease, which is used to calculate monthly payments .
      • Research which manufacturers offer lease incentives for cars with a high residual value .
      • A higher residual value means the car will have less depreciation while under the leased contract, which will yield a lower monthly payment.
        • EXAMPLE :
        • You find a $20,000 car that will only be worth $5,000 at the end of a 3-year lease. Your monthly lease payment would be the difference in cost—$15,000—divided by the lease term—36 months— for a monthly payment of $416 .
        • You find another $20,000 car that will be worth $12,000 at the end of a 3-year lease. Your monthly payments would be $8,000 divided by 36 months—$222 .
        • Car #2 offers a higher residual value (less depreciation) and will result in a lower monthly payment.
    • Cap cost reduction.
      • A manufacturer may offer cash back or other rebate incentives that will help to reduce the amount of money you’ll need to finance a vehicle, which is known as a cap cost reduction.
        • Works the same way as a down payment on a loan.
        • Not a security deposit, but rather a form of pre-payment used to lower monthly payments .
    • Finance incentives.
      • Usually consist of low interest-rate financing.
        • Interest rates may not be the entire length of the contract, so make sure you know the details beforehand.
        • The lowest interest rates are often reserved for shorter loan terms.
      • In general, a low Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is between 0% and 5%.
    • Loyalty programs.
      • These provide deals for specific customer types, such as:
        • First-time buyers.
        • Recent college graduates.
        • Military members.
        • Repeat customers.

How Car Rebates and Incentives Work

Image Gallery: Sports Cars A sale balloon advertises a special price on a Mustang at a Ford dealership in Tacoma, Wash. See more pictures of sports cars.

    AP Photo /Elaine Thompson

You know the feeling: You’ve got your eye on something you want or need, but it’s just a little too expensive. Then, boom — it goes on sale, and you pounce. You were able to get exactly what you wanted (at a discount), and the salesperson scored a sale, too. Everyone wins.

While retailers like the grocery or department store may offer sales or coupons, automakers and dealers tend to discount their merchandise through rebates and incentives. Car rebates and incentives are programs that stimulate sales for car makers by giving savings to consumers.

There are three main types of car rebates and incentives offered to consumers: cash rebates, low-interest financing and special leases. Car dealers can also get incentives from the manufacturer to help spur sales. And if you know what incentives are being given to the dealer, you can use that information to negotiate a better deal for yourself.

If you know how consumer rebates and incentives work, you can also use that information to find the best deal. For example, since you know now that car makers use incentives to increase sales, it’s easy to see that brands with slow sales tend to offer the best incentives to consumers. So, if a car maker is having a good sales month or year (and if you want to save money), you may want to shop a competitor that’s in a bit of a sales slump — chances are they’re offering better discounts.

One prime example is Toyota. In the winter of 2010, Toyota hit a massive sales slump due to highly publicized recalls of Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs. Sales tanked. To get customers back into its showrooms, Toyota offered lots of incentives, which dropped the price of a new Toyota car or truck.

Simply by paying attention to what’s going on in the automotive market and the manufacturers offering in incentives, you can probably get your next car at a decent discount. And who wouldn’t like that?

The key to getting paying the lowest price for the new vehicle you want is learning how to take maximum advantage of the special discounts that are currently available to you. To do this, you must locate all current rebates and incentives, determine which is the most beneficial, and finally, how to deduct the savings from the price of your new vehicle.

It s important to note, not all new car buying incentives are applicable to every consumer. Availability and the amount of savings may vary by region, vehicle model, year, or trim level. Rebates and incentives are also offered for a limited period of time, for this reason it is vital to be aware of the most current deals out there.

Before you rush to the dealership to take advantage of the latest offer you ve seen advertised, it s important to take a step back and evaluate. Perhaps this deal isn t the best on the market. Maybe a similar vehicle by another manufacturer might offer more savings. Or choosing cash-back over financing means greater long term discounts.

Start by doing your homework. You can t depend on the new car dealer to tell you the best deal for you. Research up-to-date new car rebates and dealer incentive offers online before heading to the car lot. You can uncover this information quickly by requesting a free, no-obligation price quote. Not only will you find the lowest prices available in your area, but we ll provide you with a complete list of current rebates!

New car dealer rebates are added savings, you still have an opportunity to lower the price of your new vehicle further. Start by taking a look at the offered price. Ask the salesperson if the current incentives have already been deducted. Negotiate the actual price of the new car you want, without deducting the additional savings your entitled to.

Once you get the dealer to reach a fair offer, then subtract the rebates and incentives you have located. You may be able to negotiate the new car price down a few thousand, and rebates and incentives will further lower the final cost!

Start now request a free new car price quote, then use the following foolproof steps to pay the lowest price for the new vehicle you want.

    1. Request quotes from multiple dealerships in your area.
    2. Review the rebates and incentives available to you.
    3. Negotiate the purchase price of the vehicle you want without rebate and incentives included.
    4. Once you agree on a fair price deduct current discounts.
    5. Review the offer carefully, sign and drive home knowing you just obtained maximum savings on your new car or truck!

    It s that easy!

Auto Rebates, Low APR Loans, Car Lease Offers: Choose Wisely

Auto rebates, low APR loans, cashback, car finance options, factory incentives by any name, incentives can save you a boatload of bucks. But don’t let a rebate sucker you into getting the car you don’t want. The secret with rebates and incentives is knowing the ins and outs.

Car makers don’t give away money just because they care. They’re trying to move inventory especially on slow-selling models. That’s why top selling new cars don’t usually have incentives, but cars late in the model year do.

So, check those auto rebates, low APR loans and lease incentives on a new car carefully. You may be able to score a great deal on a new car you really want!

    Lease Incentives

Special lease incentives offered by the manufacturer make leasing even more affordable. But don’t get lost in the terminology. Find out the vehicle price, interest rate (usually called the money factor), and residual value. And make sure you understand the pluses and minuses of leasing.

    Low APR Loans

Manufacturers frequently offer low interest rate loans to new car buyers to help their dealers sell more cars. These can be a great deal if you qualify. Also consider the length of the loan.

A short loan means less in interest charges but much larger monthly payments. A longer loan, 60 or 72 months, can leave you paying off a car you’re tired of.

Toyota Deals: Buy or Lease a Toyota

Toyota Financing, Cash Back and Lease Offers for November 2015

Toyota lease deals in November are for two or three years, and most models payments are under $300 per month and require less than $3,000 at signing. Toyota purchase deals on many vehicles come with either cash back or zero percent financing and bonus cash.

If you are in the market this November for an affordable midsize car. Toyota is offering the 2016 Camry (starting at $23,070) in some regions with zero percent financing for five years and $1,000 bonus cash. That’s a better deal than you can get on the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu (starting at $22,465), which is available in November with 2.9 percent financing through Chevrolet for five years. Despite its slightly higher starting price, opting for the Camry and putting no money down will save you more than $2,000 over the life of the loan, when comparing base models. The Camry also scores better in our affordable midsize car rankings

November lease deals from Toyota include a special in some states on the 2015 Sienna. which you can get for $279 per month for three years with $2,999 due at signing. That s a decent deal, but the 2016 Honda Odyssey is available for $340 per month for three years with zero due at signing and no first month’s payment. Both vehicles rank near the top of our minivan rankings, but choosing the Odyssey will get you a newer vehicle and save you more than $1,100 over the life of the lease.

Check out our Toyota page before you head to the dealership, where you can see the average price paid for the model you re interested in.
