OC Auto Exchange Privacy Policy

Department of Motor Vehicle (“DMV”) License fees are estimates. Upon completion of the vehicle’s registration, all fees, if any, are immediately due upon receipt of registration.

All documents mailed to Customers are mailed via regular USPS ma il.Auto Exchange/California Motors Direct (hereafter “Auto Exchange/CMD”) is not responsible for any lost or undelivered mail. An overnight request can be made but such expense will be borne by the Customer.

AllDMV documents, plates, and tags are issued by the DMV per DMV records. Any missing items such as missing plate(s)/tags become the responsibility of theCustomer to immediately contact and/or order the same from the DMV. AutoExchange/CMD will not be responsible for any fines Customers might incur from driving the vehicle without properly mounted plates and tags. A request to place an order for missing items can be placed with Auto Exchange/CMD at theCustomers’ expense but is not recommended.

Prior balance on trade-ins are estimates and based on the amount reported onCustomer’s credit. A 10-day payoff will be ordered by Auto Exchange/CMD upon receipt of funds per Customers’ sale contract. The trade-in balance, if any, is immediately due to Auto Exchange/CMD upon verbal or written notification to theCustomer.

Trade-ins with missing titles are NOT ACCEPTED. Customers are solely responsible to provide Auto Exchange/CMD with a clear title for their trade-in at the time the vehicle is being traded-in.

All deferred payments are due per the deferred date on the sales contract. Any default on deferred payments will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

All checks towards the vehicle purchase are immediate demands to Auto Exchange/CMD. Checks returned for any reason are subject to all appropriate fines and Auto Exchange/CMD will immediately seek reimbursement for any losses.

Customers have the right to inspect the vehicle before purchase by a third party.

Customer is aware of the limited dealer warranty per Buyer’s Guide. The limited warranty is an engine and transmission REPLACEMENT (if the entire engine or transmission needs to be replaced per manufacturer or Auto Exchange/CMD recommendation) for 30 days or 1000 miles whichever occurs first. Such warranty covers 50% of the cost of the engine/transmission and 50% of the labor to replace the engine/transmission. All repairs must be approved by Auto Exchange/CMD and performed at Auto Exchange/CMD. No payments will be made by Auto Exchange/CMD for any engine/transmission repairs performed at other facilities– NO EXCEPTION. No coverage for repairs, parts, or labor, other than replacement of the mentioned engine/transmission will be provided by AutoExchange/CMD. Auto Exchange/CMD does not provide rental, courtesy or loaner vehicles, nor does Auto Exchange/CMD reimburse for towing or any other fees.

Before purchasing a vehicle, customer has had the opportunity to visually inspect the vehicle, was aware of his/her option to have a third party inspect the vehicle,and has been offered an extended warranty on the day of sale. Customer acknowledges they are aware of these options and accepts the vehicle’s condition at the point of sale and releases the dealer from any and all claims regarding the vehicle’s condition.

Customer agrees to cooperate with employees at all times and to assist Auto Exchange/CMD in closing their file whether for dues, missing documents, missing signatures,etc.

No verbal or implied promises will be honored by Auto Exchange/CMD unless clearly stated in writing in the Due Bill.

Carfax reports are available for free online for all vehicles. Customers can also order a Carfax report directly at their own expense. Auto Exchange/CMD is not responsible or held liable for any information reported by Carfax.

Customer is expected to do their own due diligence before purchasing a vehicle. Such due diligence includes but is not limited to, ordering a Carfax report, ordering an NMVTIS report, thoroughly inspecting the vehicle, test driving the vehicle, and hiring a third party to inspect the vehicle. Auto Exchange/CMD will not be held responsible for Customer’s lack of due diligence.

Auto Exchange/CMD values our employees and Customers. Auto Exchange/CMD insures a friendly and respectful professional environment for all. Any communication between parties should be at the utmost professional level. Auto Exchange/CMD has zero tolerance for rudeness, foul language, and threats. Such behavior will be dealt with immediately to the full extent provided for by law and/or corporate policy.

Customer is aware of and has read and accepted Auto Exchange/CMD’s disclaimers on Auto Exchange/CMD and its affiliates’ websites.

Auto Exchange/CMD will not be held responsible for any mistakes made in good faith by any Auto Exchange/CMD employee, affiliate, or vendor.

Auto Exchange/CMD holds the right to refuse service to anyone whenever deemed necessary.

All personal/company/cashier checks have a 12-day hold until clearance of all funds. Auto Exchange/CMD reserves the right to hold title/registration/payoffs/refunds and/or place a lien on title until all dues are collected and required paperwork is completed.

    All checks towards the vehicle purchase are immediate demands to Auto Exchange/CMD. Checks returned for any reason are subject to all appropriate fines and AutoExchange/CMD will immediately seek reimbursement for any losses.

    Customers have the right to inspect the vehicle before purchase by a third party.

    Customer is aware of the limited dealer warranty per Buyer’s Guide. The limited warranty is an engine and transmission REPLACEMENT (if the entire engine or transmission needs to be replaced per manufacturer or Auto Exchange/CMD recommendation) for 30 days or 1000 miles whichever occurs first. Such warranty covers 50% of the cost of the engine/transmission and 50% of the labor to replace the engine/transmission. All repairs must be approved by Auto Exchange/CMD and performed at Auto Exchange/CMD. No payments will be made by Auto Exchange/CMD for any engine/transmission repairs performed at other facilities– NO EXCEPTION. No coverage for repairs, parts, or labor, other than replacement of the mentioned engine/transmission will be provided by Auto Exchange/CMD. Auto Exchange/CMD does not provide rental, courtesy or loaner vehicles, nor does Auto Exchange/CMD reimburse for towing or any other fees.

    Before purchasing a vehicle, customer has had the opportunity to visually inspect the vehicle, was aware of his/her option to have a third party inspect the vehicle,and has been offered an extended warranty on the day of sale. Customer acknowledges they are aware of these options and accepts the vehicle’s condition at the point of sale and releases the dealer from any and all claims regarding the vehicle’s condition.

    Customer agrees to cooperate with employees at all times and to assist Auto Exchange/CMD in closing their file whether for dues, missing documents, missing signatures,etc.

    No verbal or implied promises will be honored by Auto Exchange/CMD unless clearly stated in writing in the Due Bill.

    Carfax reports are available for free online for all vehicles. Customers can also order a Carfax report directly at their own expense. Auto Exchange/CMD is not responsible or held liable for any information reported by Carfax.

    Customer is expected to do their own due diligence before purchasing a vehicle. Such due diligence includes but is not limited to, ordering a Carfax report, ordering an NMVTIS report, thoroughly inspecting the vehicle, test driving the vehicle, and hiring a third party to inspect the vehicle. Auto Exchange/CMD will not be held responsible for Customer’s lack of due diligence.

    I wish to return a “remanufactured” computer they sold me, after being sent 2 defective units. They carry a 1 year warranty.

    I purchased a “remanufactured” computer from their online website. These computers carry a 1 year warranty in the purchase price. I was sent the first computer, that was the wrong part number and also defective. I verified the computer was the issue with a junkyard computer that runs the vehicle perfectly. I returned the first computer and they sent me another computer, this one was the right part number, but again defective. After 2 defective units in a row I contacted and asked to rather return the item for a refund than receive more questionable quality computers from their service. They are claiming that they’re refund policy only allows returns for the first 30 days and it is stated on their website. www.autocomputerexchange.net The only policies I can find related to return on their website are as follows: “Q. Can I return my computer if it doesn’t work?

    A.The part may be returned within 14 days of delivery as long as it is returned in its original condition. The return will be subject to shipping charges as well as programming charges. It is up to you and your mechanic to make sure that you diagnose your vehicle correctly.”

    This policy by saying it is not their responsibility if you improperly diagnosed the vehicle, does not apply in this case. It was not my diagnosis that was wrong, but their product that is defective. Again this product carries a 1 year warranty for all defects in their workmanship. After a pattern of faulty products I do not trust their workmanship or services anymore and would simply like my money refunded. I have sent them multiple emails trying to explain this and they keep giving what seems to be the same generated email about their 30 day return policy being on their website.

    General Information

    With Exchange Server 2003 you can use Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition of Exchange Server to provide Web Access with a Frontend Server. That is quite different in comparison to Exchange 2000 Server where you had to use Enterprise Edition to provide it. But before thinking of implementing a Frontend Server you should first consider your network infrastructure. Do you have a DMZ (also known as perimeter network)? What kind of firewall(s) do you have? Are you using an ISA Server 2000 or any other application layer firewall? Especially using ISA Server 2000 you have some tricky functions providing a good way to securely configure OWA Access over the ISA Server.     Preparing Exchange Server 2003 for OWA

    Your Exchange Server 2003 generally behaves as Backend Server and every user has HTTP as an allowed protocol. So you do not have to configure anything on your Backend Servers unless you want to prevent some of your users from accessing their mailbox using OWA. This can be done quite easily via Active Directory Users and Computers in the user properties.

    If we choose this configuration the server changes from using the DAVEx process (to act as Backend Server) to the ExProx process (acting as Frontend Server). The next step is to reboot the server to make the changes take effect.

    Then we should go through the following steps to make the Frontend Server a genuine Frontend by disabling all unnessecary services. On your Frontend Server you must have the following services running, every other service may be stopped without any trouble.

    You really do not need to run the Exchange Information Store, because there should not be any public folders or mailboxes on your Frontend Server. The best practice is to dismount and delete all databases on your server and then disable the Exchange Information Store Service.

    After you have successfully placed this server in the perimeter network (also known as DMZ) we now have to configure the appropriate ports on the firewall(s) to make our server run.

    On the intranet firewall (which connects the DMZ and the internal network) we have to open the following ports:


    • For Exchange Communication:

      • Port 80 for HTTP
      • Port 691 for Link State Algorithm routing protocol

    • For Active Directory communication:

      • Port 389 for LDAP (TCP and UDP)
      • Port 3268 for Global Catalog Server LDAP (TCP)
      • Port 88 for Kerberos Authentication (TCP and UDP)

    Note . You should now configure the DSAccess service for perimeter networks on your Frontend Server. At first you should disable the check for available disk space at netlogon by using RPC. This can be done by changing the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeDSAccess
    Registry Value: DisableNetlogonCheck
    Value Type: REG_DWORD
    Value Data: 1

    In addition to this you should prevent DSAccess from pinging domain controllers. This can be done by creating the following key on your Frontend Server:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeDSAccess
    Registry Value: LdapKeepAliveSecs
    Value Type: REG_DWORD
    Value Data: 0

    Then you should configure your Exchange Frontend Server to connect to the DC and GC you want by editing the server properties in Exchange System Manager.

    For DNS communication:

    Port 53 for DNS (TCP and UDP)

    Note : You can limit RPCs across the firewall by editing the registry of all your DCs. You should now change the registry setting of the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters
    Registry Value: TCP/IP Port
    Value Type: REG_DWORD
    Value Data: (available port)

    If you are using IPSec between Frontend- and Backend Servers you have to open:

    Port 500 for IKE (UDP)

    Port 51 for Authentication Header (AH)

    Port 50 for Encapsulation Protocol (ESP)

    If you want to provide high availability for your Frontend Server you could do this by configuring the Network Load Balancing Service (NBL) to act as a virtual cluster. NLB will then make sure that users connect to a running Frontend Server. Then every user connecting to OWA will connect to the virtual cluster and will then be redirected to one of your Frontend Server nodes.

    Implementing Security for Outlook Web Access

    If you have successfully implemented your Exchange Front-End Server constellation for providing Outlook Web Access for your users, you may be concerned about security matters. HTTP connectivity is not very secure and authentication information is always on the net as clear text. In addition to this, Outlook Web Access authentication is generally session based. This means if you do not logoff and close your browser you remain logged in. Especially in public web access areas where users are unable to close the browser window it becomes quite easy for other users to read and send emails in the name of a company user.

    Providing a secure HTTPS connection with an SSL server certificate is quite easy to implement. The most interesting decision is whether to use a web server certificate from an internal certificate authority or to buy one from a well-known trust center like Verisign or anyone else. This certificate must then be installed on your OWA server.

    Now you can choose between a secure channel and a non-secure one. If you would like to require 128-bit encryption, just check the appropriate box and it runs. But do not forget that some countries have laws that only allow 40-bit encryption (e.g. France).

    With a new feature in Exchange Server 2003 you can make your OWA connections more secure. This feature is called “Form-based Authentication” which means you can configure a cookie timed-out session connection. This can be quite easily implemented as shown in the following picture below.

    After enabling this feature you have a default setting of 10 minutes as the timeout value for a client session. Then you must re-logon to get a new cookie and new OWA access.

    Note : You can change the default timeout by changing the following registry setting:

    Registry Value: PublicClientTimeout
    Value Type: REG_DWORD

    On both registry values the possible settings will vary from 1 – 4320 (minutes). After changing these settings you have to restart your W3SVC service.

    With the setting of compression you have the possibility of speeding up your connections, if you can make sure that your OWA clients are aware of the following requirements:


    • Windows 2000 or later
    • Internet Explorer 6.0 with the cumulative of November 2002 or Netscape Navigator 6.0 or higher

    I wish to return a “remanufactured” computer they sold me, after being sent 2 defective units. They carry a 1 year warranty.

    I purchased a “remanufactured” computer from their online website. These computers carry a 1 year warranty in the purchase price. I was sent the first computer, that was the wrong part number and also defective. I verified the computer was the issue with a junkyard computer that runs the vehicle perfectly. I returned the first computer and they sent me another computer, this one was the right part number, but again defective. After 2 defective units in a row I contacted and asked to rather return the item for a refund than receive more questionable quality computers from their service. They are claiming that they’re refund policy only allows returns for the first 30 days and it is stated on their website. www.autocomputerexchange.net The only policies I can find related to return on their website are as follows: “Q. Can I return my computer if it doesn’t work?

    This policy by saying it is not their responsibility if you improperly diagnosed the vehicle, does not apply in this case. It was not my diagnosis that was wrong, but their product that is defective. Again this product carries a 1 year warranty for all defects in their workmanship. After a pattern of faulty products I do not trust their workmanship or services anymore and would simply like my money refunded. I have sent them multiple emails trying to explain this and they keep giving what seems to be the same generated email about their 30 day return policy being on their website.

    Just an update to my previous message. I ended up purchasing another comp from AUTO MODULE SOURCE. Guess what. SAME FREAKING MORANS. Turns out its the same owner running the same shady business under a differnet name. If he would focus more employees on good service instead of flooding review boards probaly wouldnt be so bad. beware! I guess shame on me for getting burned a second time.

    I wish I had read some reviews. I usually do, but I guess desperation was pushing my buttons. Long story short, they sent me two PCMs for my 2004 PT Cruiser, and they were both defective. They said it was a problem with the car and not their units, but my mechanic was able to disprove that through extensive testing. The are refusing to refund my money even though I’ve yet to receive a satisfactory product. They say their 14 day grace period has expired. Who has a grace period on a refund policy? Save yourself the headache and don’t use this company. How they have 4 out of 5 stars is beyond me. I’m thinking even their reviews must be fraudulent.

    I should start by saying that I am a female. You know how we are often taken advantage of when it comes to anything automotive. unfortunately. My car had a number of electrical issues as a result of some flooding. My mechanic fixed most of them but for the computer (ECM) he said I had to purchase another one. Rather than blowing a ton of money for one at the dealership he suggested these guys (Auto Computer Exchange). He said he has bought from them numerous times and never had any problems. After telling me which model to get, I called them up. The process was way smoother than I imagined and within the day the new ECM was installed by my mechanic. Great experience

    Sent computer in for repair (Under Lifetime Warranty) still charged for repair. Asked for an itemized receipt for parts replaced, they said that they would do that, but when received no parts were listed. Item was shipped in a large box with hardly any packing. The unit came broken. Called Auto Computer Exchange and they would not take responsibility for the packing, told me to complain to UPS or ship it back. Not about to ship it back to them from California. Had to have a custom bracket made (out of my expense) to be able to install the unit back into the car. Absolutely no quality control even in their packing for shipping back to you. Absolutely no taking responsibility for their own mistakes. Not Honest, No Integrity – A company you do not want to deal with. You will be disappointed and they do not care one bit!

    Total thiefs sent 2 computers for my truck and both were bad. finally went to dealer and spent 800 and put a new computer in my truck. auto computer exchange refused to refund my money even though i sent both their garbage computers back to them. please share with all to prevent these thiefs from ripping anyone else off.

    first computer they sent was for a four wheel drive my truck is two wheel drive .second one they sent gave multiple bad codes and when i called them they said it wasn’t a bad computer it was my truck. I went to the local dodge dealer and they confirmed it was a bad computer and installed a new one for 800.00. i haven’t had any issues since the new one from dealer was installed.

    I forwarded the receipt from the dealer with all the findings and called they have not sent or returned my money.

    because my truck was down because they sent me 2 bad computers i lost my job which i need my truck for.

    While looking for a used car for my youngest daughter (she specifically wanted a Honda Civic in White) with less than 60,000 miles and for under $12,000.  I had looked for this car through the local dealers. Norm Reeves Honda  and many other sources and none could provide the car with that kind of mileage, or when you called (that car was sold ) they no longer had them but had others for more $$$. Talk about the bait and switch.

    I had been schooled and as a result kept seeing cars from LA Auto Exchange but my wife wasn t interested due to their rep . Upon reading the reviews here though, while a lot of them were less than positive the primary complaint wasn t about the car but the lot salesman,  and stuff that normally I would classify as buyer beware and things that most people should do(due diligence) and not relying on what any salesperson tells you. In addition, I reviewed how many reviews these people had done and seeing that  a lot of those negative reviews were from those that didn t have a lot of reviews to their credit,  I tended to put less credence on them .

    Well, I decided to call them and ask for the guy that responds to the negative reviews John S and got Javier on the phone. He let me know who John S is but if I allowed him to help me he would see about getting me the car I was looking for. He was very upfront (and told me that he also have some negative reviews on Yelp) and found him to be forthright and asked him about the car / review issues and addressed them to my satisfaction. I asked him since I would be coming down to have his mechanic completely check out the car and let me know what they found. A day later he got back to me and told me that it was clean.

    In addition, I looked online for the best independent mobile pre-purchase mechanic I could find to check out the car and had that done prior to committing to the car. We had already gone through the car fax and  Javier even agreed to hold the car w/o a deposit subject the mechanic. I couldn t believe how honest he was (don t worry about us selling the car- currently were not moving so many that you need to  rush down and get or else it will be sold).

    In any case the mechanic I chose took 3 hours checked the car completely (even using some type of radar thing to see if there was any bondo, etc.) and let me know that the car was clean, needed new wipers, cabin filter and the left rear tire monitor is either faulty or to put air in it. He also told me that the left side had been repainted and done professionally but that it couldn t of been a lot of damage (probably someone keying it based on the results). I also asked him if he was familiar with this retailer and he told me he s done several inspections for customers considering them as well and NEVER found them to be dishonest or found outrageous stuff wrong that wasn t disclosed.

    Javier stated that he was aware of the repainting and it came that way from the auction.  So now I had a car that was mechanically sound, in great condition, and only 26,000 miles for 11,999.     The only caveat I would state that others may not be aware of that there is no cooling off period or 3 day right to return a car like a new one. They do have a insurance policy at an additional charge but that wasn t applicable since I had the car checked prior to purchase.

    The only outstanding thing I m waiting for is the DMV registration to come through but it s only been 3 weeks and would expect that to come through any day. In summary if you do YOUR due diligence and have the car checked you will find as good a value as any and I can tell you I m as leary as they get- just check my reviews and you ll see that I m not a casual Yelper. I sincerely care and share my experiences as I also depend on others reviews to make my decisions as well on Yelp.

    My mechanic purchase an ECU for my 1993 Lexus SC400 from AutoComputerExchange.com. I was away for several months and my husband handled the problem with my car. When I returned I asked “if there is a new ECU, why are all the lights on – CEL, TRAC OFF, O/D flashing?” He didn’t know why and Maggie from AutoComputerExchange.com didn’t know why either. Well after trying to repair what was wrong with my car, I found out nothing was wrong with my car except the ECU I bought. AutoComputerExchange.com placed their sticker over Toyota/Denso label to cover the OEM part number. The ECU was for a Jan. 1994 to Jan. 1995 SC400, not my 1993. These ECUs ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.

    Purchased a PCM for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler did a lot of research for a transmission shifting issue. They said they were aware of the issue and a new programmed PCM would fix the problem. I ordered it and paid the $389 and had to send my original to them as a core. The unit arrived and I plugged it in. It worked fine for about 4 days and the same exact issue came back. I had to send it back to them on my dime. They claimed to have checked it out and replaced some parts and sent it back to me after a week. This time, I plugged it in and it would drive, but went into a “safe mode” and would not shift or go over 40mph. I called and was told I had to go to a dealer and have it programmed ($190). Says right on the website that the PCM’s come pre-programmed and you won’t have to do this. First lie.

    While looking for a used car for my youngest daughter (she specifically wanted a Honda Civic in White) with less than 60,000 miles and for under $12,000.  I had looked for this car through the local dealers. Norm Reeves Honda  and many other sources and none could provide the car with that kind of mileage, or when you called (that car was sold ) they no longer had them but had others for more $$$. Talk about the bait and switch.

    I had been schooled and as a result kept seeing cars from LA Auto Exchange but my wife wasn t interested due to their rep . Upon reading the reviews here though, while a lot of them were less than positive the primary complaint wasn t about the car but the lot salesman,  and stuff that normally I would classify as buyer beware and things that most people should do(due diligence) and not relying on what any salesperson tells you. In addition, I reviewed how many reviews these people had done and seeing that  a lot of those negative reviews were from those that didn t have a lot of reviews to their credit,  I tended to put less credence on them .

    Well, I decided to call them and ask for the guy that responds to the negative reviews John S and got Javier on the phone. He let me know who John S is but if I allowed him to help me he would see about getting me the car I was looking for. He was very upfront (and told me that he also have some negative reviews on Yelp) and found him to be forthright and asked him about the car / review issues and addressed them to my satisfaction. I asked him since I would be coming down to have his mechanic completely check out the car and let me know what they found. A day later he got back to me and told me that it was clean.

    In addition, I looked online for the best independent mobile pre-purchase mechanic I could find to check out the car and had that done prior to committing to the car. We had already gone through the car fax and  Javier even agreed to hold the car w/o a deposit subject the mechanic. I couldn t believe how honest he was (don t worry about us selling the car- currently were not moving so many that you need to  rush down and get or else it will be sold).

    In any case the mechanic I chose took 3 hours checked the car completely (even using some type of radar thing to see if there was any bondo, etc.) and let me know that the car was clean, needed new wipers, cabin filter and the left rear tire monitor is either faulty or to put air in it. He also told me that the left side had been repainted and done professionally but that it couldn t of been a lot of damage (probably someone keying it based on the results). I also asked him if he was familiar with this retailer and he told me he s done several inspections for customers considering them as well and NEVER found them to be dishonest or found outrageous stuff wrong that wasn t disclosed.

    Javier stated that he was aware of the repainting and it came that way from the auction.  So now I had a car that was mechanically sound, in great condition, and only 26,000 miles for 11,999.     My mechanic purchase an ECU for my 1993 Lexus SC400 from AutoComputerExchange.com. I was away for several months and my husband handled the problem with my car. When I returned I asked “if there is a new ECU, why are all the lights on – CEL, TRAC OFF, O/D flashing?” He didn’t know why and Maggie from AutoComputerExchange.com didn’t know why either. Well after trying to repair what was wrong with my car, I found out nothing was wrong with my car except the ECU I bought. AutoComputerExchange.com placed their sticker over Toyota/Denso label to cover the OEM part number. The ECU was for a Jan. 1994 to Jan. 1995 SC400, not my 1993. These ECUs ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.

    Purchased a PCM for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler did a lot of research for a transmission shifting issue. They said they were aware of the issue and a new programmed PCM would fix the problem. I ordered it and paid the $389 and had to send my original to them as a core. The unit arrived and I plugged it in. It worked fine for about 4 days and the same exact issue came back. I had to send it back to them on my dime. They claimed to have checked it out and replaced some parts and sent it back to me after a week. This time, I plugged it in and it would drive, but went into a “safe mode” and would not shift or go over 40mph. I called and was told I had to go to a dealer and have it programmed ($190). Says right on the website that the PCM’s come pre-programmed and you won’t have to do this. First lie.

    Total thiefs sent 2 computers for my truck and both were bad. finally went to dealer and spent 800 and put a new computer in my truck. auto computer exchange refused to refund my money even though i sent both their garbage computers back to them. please share with all to prevent these thiefs from ripping anyone else off.

    first computer they sent was for a four wheel drive my truck is two wheel drive .second one they sent gave multiple bad codes and when i called them they said it wasn’t a bad computer it was my truck. I went to the local dodge dealer and they confirmed it was a bad computer and installed a new one for 800.00. i haven’t had any issues since the new one from dealer was installed.

    I forwarded the receipt from the dealer with all the findings and called they have not sent or returned my money.

    because my truck was down because they sent me 2 bad computers i lost my job which i need my truck for.

    Now searching for new job.

    Just an update to my previous message. I ended up purchasing another comp from AUTO MODULE SOURCE. Guess what. SAME FREAKING MORANS. Turns out its the same owner running the same shady business under a differnet name. If he would focus more employees on good service instead of flooding review boards probaly wouldnt be so bad. beware! I guess shame on me for getting burned a second time.

    I wish I had read some reviews. I usually do, but I guess desperation was pushing my buttons. Long story short, they sent me two PCMs for my 2004 PT Cruiser, and they were both defective. They said it was a problem with the car and not their units, but my mechanic was able to disprove that through extensive testing. The are refusing to refund my money even though I’ve yet to receive a satisfactory product. They say their 14 day grace period has expired. Who has a grace period on a refund policy? Save yourself the headache and don’t use this company. How they have 4 out of 5 stars is beyond me. I’m thinking even their reviews must be fraudulent.

    I should start by saying that I am a female. You know how we are often taken advantage of when it comes to anything automotive. unfortunately. My car had a number of electrical issues as a result of some flooding. My mechanic fixed most of them but for the computer (ECM) he said I had to purchase another one. Rather than blowing a ton of money for one at the dealership he suggested these guys (Auto Computer Exchange). He said he has bought from them numerous times and never had any problems. After telling me which model to get, I called them up. The process was way smoother than I imagined and within the day the new ECM was installed by my mechanic. Great experience

    Sent computer in for repair (Under Lifetime Warranty) still charged for repair. Asked for an itemized receipt for parts replaced, they said that they would do that, but when received no parts were listed. Item was shipped in a large box with hardly any packing. The unit came broken. Called Auto Computer Exchange and they would not take responsibility for the packing, told me to complain to UPS or ship it back. Not about to ship it back to them from California. Had to have a custom bracket made (out of my expense) to be able to install the unit back into the car. Absolutely no quality control even in their packing for shipping back to you. Absolutely no taking responsibility for their own mistakes. Not Honest, No Integrity – A company you do not want to deal with. You will be disappointed and they do not care one bit!

    All documents mailed to Customers are mailed via regular USPS mail. Auto Exchange/California Motors Direct (hereafter “Auto Exchange/CMD”) is not responsible for any lost or undelivered mail. An overnight request can be made but such expense will be borne by the Customer.

    All DMV documents, plates, and tags are issued by the DMV per DMV records. Any missing items such as missing plate(s)/tags become the responsibility of the Customer to immediately contact and/or order the same from the DMV. Auto Exchange/CMD will not be responsible for any fines Customers might incur from driving the vehicle without properly mounted plates and tags. A request to place an order for missing items can be placed with Auto Exchange/CMD at the Customers’ expense but is not recommended.

    Prior balance on trade-ins are estimates and based on the amount reported on Customer’s credit. A 10-day payoff will be ordered by Auto Exchange/CMD upon receipt of funds per Customers’ sale contract. The trade-in balance, if any, is immediately due to Auto Exchange/CMD upon verbal or written notification to the Customer.

    While looking for a used car for my youngest daughter (she specifically wanted a Honda Civic in White) with less than 60,000 miles and for under $12,000.  I had looked for this car through the local dealers. Norm Reeves Honda  and many other sources and none could provide the car with that kind of mileage, or when you called (that car was sold ) they no longer had them but had others for more $$$. Talk about the bait and switch.

    I had been schooled and as a result kept seeing cars from LA Auto Exchange but my wife wasn t interested due to their rep . Upon reading the reviews here though, while a lot of them were less than positive the primary complaint wasn t about the car but the lot salesman,  and stuff that normally I would classify as buyer beware and things that most people should do(due diligence) and not relying on what any salesperson tells you. In addition, I reviewed how many reviews these people had done and seeing that  a lot of those negative reviews were from those that didn t have a lot of reviews to their credit,  I tended to put less credence on them .

    Well, I decided to call them and ask for the guy that responds to the negative reviews John S and got Javier on the phone. He let me know who John S is but if I allowed him to help me he would see about getting me the car I was looking for. He was very upfront (and told me that he also have some negative reviews on Yelp) and found him to be forthright and asked him about the car / review issues and addressed them to my satisfaction. I asked him since I would be coming down to have his mechanic completely check out the car and let me know what they found. A day later he got back to me and told me that it was clean.

    In addition, I looked online for the best independent mobile pre-purchase mechanic I could find to check out the car and had that done prior to committing to the car. We had already gone through the car fax and  Javier even agreed to hold the car w/o a deposit subject the mechanic. I couldn t believe how honest he was (don t worry about us selling the car- currently were not moving so many that you need to  rush down and get or else it will be sold).

    In any case the mechanic I chose took 3 hours checked the car completely (even using some type of radar thing to see if there was any bondo, etc.) and let me know that the car was clean, needed new wipers, cabin filter and the left rear tire monitor is either faulty or to put air in it. He also told me that the left side had been repainted and done professionally but that it couldn t of been a lot of damage (probably someone keying it based on the results). I also asked him if he was familiar with this retailer and he told me he s done several inspections for customers considering them as well and NEVER found them to be dishonest or found outrageous stuff wrong that wasn t disclosed.

    Javier stated that he was aware of the repainting and it came that way from the auction.  So now I had a car that was mechanically sound, in great condition, and only 26,000 miles for 11,999. We came down to sign the paperwork and again the transaction was hassle free. I noticed that the rear left lens had a small crack and Javier agreee to repair it and we drove away with as new a used car as you can find.

    The only caveat I would state that others may not be aware of that there is no cooling off period or 3 day right to return a car like a new one. They do have a insurance policy at an additional charge but that wasn t applicable since I had the car checked prior to purchase.

    The only outstanding thing I m waiting for is the DMV registration to come through but it s only been 3 weeks and would expect that to come through any day. In summary if you do YOUR due diligence and have the car checked you will find as good a value as any and I can tell you I m as leary as they get- just check my reviews and you ll see that I m not a casual Yelper. I sincerely care and share my experiences as I also depend on others reviews to make my decisions as well on Yelp.

    Q. How soon will I receive my computer once I have placed the order?

    A.We ship our parts Monday through Friday. Ground shipping times vary from 1-6 business days for most areas. Air shipping times are always 1-2 business days. Orders placed before 3:00pm eastern time may ship the same day. Most orders are shipped within 24-72 hours.

    Q. Do I need to have any additional programming done once I receive my part?

    A.Most parts that we sell are plug-and-play. All Chrysler products are plug-and-play. Some Ford and Honda models will require a locksmith to calibrate the ignition after the part is installed.

    Customer was refunded minus a Restocking fee, customer had several codes, was told what to do to get the vehicle working. On 6/14/2013 the Refund was submitted back on the Visa Card $119.40. I will attach the Company Policy.

    I never got any money back. this complain with BBB is the main reason for that.

    I wish to return a “remanufactured” computer they sold me, after being sent 2 defective units. They carry a 1 year warranty.

    I purchased a “remanufactured” computer from their online website. These computers carry a 1 year warranty in the purchase price. I was sent the first computer, that was the wrong part number and also defective. I verified the computer was the issue with a junkyard computer that runs the vehicle perfectly. I returned the first computer and they sent me another computer, this one was the right part number, but again defective. After 2 defective units in a row I contacted and asked to rather return the item for a refund than receive more questionable quality computers from their service. They are claiming that they’re refund policy only allows returns for the first 30 days and it is stated on their website. www.autocomputerexchange.net The only policies I can find related to return on their website are as follows: “Q.     This policy by saying it is not their responsibility if you improperly diagnosed the vehicle, does not apply in this case. It was not my diagnosis that was wrong, but their product that is defective. Again this product carries a 1 year warranty for all defects in their workmanship. After a pattern of faulty products I do not trust their workmanship or services anymore and would simply like my money refunded. I have sent them multiple emails trying to explain this and they keep giving what seems to be the same generated email about their 30 day return policy being on their website.

    LA Auto Exchange Privacy Policy

    Department of Motor Vehicle (“DMV”) License fees are estimates. Upon completion of the vehicle’s registration, all fees, if any, are immediately due upon receipt of registration.

    All documents mailed to Customers are mailed via regular USPS mail. Auto Exchange/California Motors Direct (hereafter “Auto Exchange/CMD”) is not responsible for any lost or undelivered mail. An overnight request can be made but such expense will be borne by the Customer.

    All DMV documents, plates, and tags are issued by the DMV per DMV records. Any missing items such as missing plate(s)/tags become the responsibility of the Customer to immediately contact and/or order the same from the DMV. Auto Exchange/CMD will not be responsible for any fines Customers might incur from driving the vehicle without properly mounted plates and tags. A request to place an order for missing items can be placed with Auto Exchange/CMD at the Customers’ expense but is not recommended.

    Prior balance on trade-ins are estimates and based on the amount reported on Customer’s credit. A 10-day payoff will be ordered by Auto Exchange/CMD upon receipt of funds per Customers’ sale contract. The trade-in balance, if any, is immediately due to Auto Exchange/CMD upon verbal or written notification to the Customer.

    Trade-ins with missing titles are NOT ACCEPTED. Customers are solely responsible to provide Auto Exchange/CMD with a clear title for their trade-in at the time the vehicle is being traded-in.

    All deferred payments are due per the deferred date on the sales contract. Any default on deferred payments will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

    All checks towards the vehicle purchase are immediate demands to Auto Exchange/CMD. Checks returned for any reason are subject to all appropriate fines and AutoExchange/CMD will immediately seek reimbursement for any losses.

    Customers have the right to inspect the vehicle before purchase by a third party.

    Customer is aware of the limited dealer warranty per Buyer’s Guide. The limited warranty is an engine and transmission REPLACEMENT (if the entire engine or transmission needs to be replaced per manufacturer or Auto Exchange/CMD recommendation) for 30 days or 1000 miles whichever occurs first. Such warranty covers 50% of the cost of the engine/transmission and 50% of the labor to replace the engine/transmission. All repairs must be approved by Auto Exchange/CMD and performed at Auto Exchange/CMD. No payments will be made by Auto Exchange/CMD for any engine/transmission repairs performed at other facilities– NO EXCEPTION. No coverage for repairs, parts, or labor, other than replacement of the mentioned engine/transmission will be provided by Auto Exchange/CMD. Auto Exchange/CMD does not provide rental, courtesy or loaner vehicles, nor does Auto Exchange/CMD reimburse for towing or any other fees.

    Before purchasing a vehicle, customer has had the opportunity to visually inspect the vehicle, was aware of his/her option to have a third party inspect the vehicle,and has been offered an extended warranty on the day of sale. Customer acknowledges they are aware of these options and accepts the vehicle’s condition at the point of sale and releases the dealer from any and all claims regarding the vehicle’s condition.

    Customer agrees to cooperate with employees at all times and to assist Auto Exchange/CMD in closing their file whether for dues, missing documents, missing signatures,etc.

    No verbal or implied promises will be honored by Auto Exchange/CMD unless clearly stated in writing in the Due Bill.

    Carfax reports are available for free online for all vehicles. Customers can also order a Carfax report directly at their own expense. Auto Exchange/CMD is not responsible or held liable for any information reported by Carfax.

    Customer is expected to do their own due diligence before purchasing a vehicle. Such due diligence includes but is not limited to, ordering a Carfax report, ordering an NMVTIS report, thoroughly inspecting the vehicle, test driving the vehicle, and hiring a third party to inspect the vehicle. Auto Exchange/CMD will not be held responsible for Customer’s lack of due diligence.

    Auto Exchange/CMD values our employees and Customers. Auto Exchange/CMD ensures a friendly and respectful professional environment for all. Any communication between parties should beat the utmost professional level. Auto Exchange/CMD has zero tolerance for rudeness,foul language, and threats.     While looking for a used car for my youngest daughter (she specifically wanted a Honda Civic in White) with less than 60,000 miles and for under $12,000.  I had looked for this car through the local dealers. Norm Reeves Honda  and many other sources and none could provide the car with that kind of mileage, or when you called (that car was sold ) they no longer had them but had others for more $$$. Talk about the bait and switch.

    I had been schooled and as a result kept seeing cars from LA Auto Exchange but my wife wasn t interested due to their rep . Upon reading the reviews here though, while a lot of them were less than positive the primary complaint wasn t about the car but the lot salesman,  and stuff that normally I would classify as buyer beware and things that most people should do(due diligence) and not relying on what any salesperson tells you. In addition, I reviewed how many reviews these people had done and seeing that  a lot of those negative reviews were from those that didn t have a lot of reviews to their credit,  I tended to put less credence on them .

    Well, I decided to call them and ask for the guy that responds to the negative reviews John S and got Javier on the phone. He let me know who John S is but if I allowed him to help me he would see about getting me the car I was looking for. He was very upfront (and told me that he also have some negative reviews on Yelp) and found him to be forthright and asked him about the car / review issues and addressed them to my satisfaction. I asked him since I would be coming down to have his mechanic completely check out the car and let me know what they found. A day later he got back to me and told me that it was clean.

    In addition, I looked online for the best independent mobile pre-purchase mechanic I could find to check out the car and had that done prior to committing to the car. We had already gone through the car fax and  Javier even agreed to hold the car w/o a deposit subject the mechanic. I couldn t believe how honest he was (don t worry about us selling the car- currently were not moving so many that you need to  rush down and get or else it will be sold).

    In any case the mechanic I chose took 3 hours checked the car completely (even using some type of radar thing to see if there was any bondo, etc.) and let me know that the car was clean, needed new wipers, cabin filter and the left rear tire monitor is either faulty or to put air in it. He also told me that the left side had been repainted and done professionally but that it couldn t of been a lot of damage (probably someone keying it based on the results). I also asked him if he was familiar with this retailer and he told me he s done several inspections for customers considering them as well and NEVER found them to be dishonest or found outrageous stuff wrong that wasn t disclosed.

    Javier stated that he was aware of the repainting and it came that way from the auction.  So now I had a car that was mechanically sound, in great condition, and only 26,000 miles for 11,999. We came down to sign the paperwork and again the transaction was hassle free. I noticed that the rear left lens had a small crack and Javier agreee to repair it and we drove away with as new a used car as you can find.

    The only caveat I would state that others may not be aware of that there is no cooling off period or 3 day right to return a car like a new one. They do have a insurance policy at an additional charge but that wasn t applicable since I had the car checked prior to purchase.

    The only outstanding thing I m waiting for is the DMV registration to come through but it s only been 3 weeks and would expect that to come through any day. In summary if you do YOUR due diligence and have the car checked you will find as good a value as any and I can tell you I m as leary as they get- just check my reviews and you ll see that I m not a casual Yelper. I sincerely care and share my experiences as I also depend on others reviews to make my decisions as well on Yelp.
