Event Sport Management Degrees

During the first year of the ESE program, students complete an applied learning module called The Project Factory. This exciting event management course allows students to practice event management and sport management for several exciting events each semester, including cultural events such as the Glion’s Got Talent Show, theme evenings, and charity events. They also take charge of the campus fitness center, organize sport activities and plan sport competitions.

Additionally, ESE students volunteer in real industry events and work on business projects for industry partners. In the past, they have participated in projects for UEFA, volunteered at the Freeride World tour Chamonix, and participated in many sports competitions and conferences attended by the public.

Why Study ESE in Switzerland?

Switzerland is home to many international sports organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) which host numerous international conferences and events each year. Our campuses are located in Glion and Bulle, in the French speaking regions between Lake Geneva and the capital, Bern. Studying event management in Switzerland will give you a chance to experience what Switzerland is most famous for.

The Great Outdoors – As a major destination for outdoor sports tourism, Switzerland offers our students the chance to practice managing activities around snow sports, hiking, climbing, boating and many other sports in the mountains and lakes.

International Sports Organizations – Switzerland is home to many international sport federations such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and the International Ski Federation (ISF).

At the Heart of Europe – Nestled between France, Italy and Germany, Switzerland is an ideal starting place for travel to major European cities. By train, you can easily visit Milan, Paris, or Berlin on the weekend; while a short flight can take you to the UK, the sunny coasts of Spain, or Eastern Europe.

The National Culture – Switzerland is always ranked among the best for its quality of life. It offers a peaceful international culture, efficient public transportation and reassuring level of safety. Plus, each region has its own dialects, architectural styles, specialty goods, and gourmet cuisine so students don’t have to go far to find something new.

    Essential Information

    Certificate programs equip prospective workers with the skills and knowledge to take a certification exam. Emergency dispatcher programs prepare students to work with first responders and other emergency personnel in the event of fires, car accidents, and other urgent situations. Aircraft dispatcher certificate programs prepare students to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements as dispatchers for airplanes and other aircraft. Enrolling in either kind of program requires that the applicant meets typing speed requirements and some also require a high school diploma or GED.

    Emergency Dispatcher Certificate

    In an emergency dispatcher certificate program, students learn 911 procedures, terminology, and requirements. They are taught how to handle high stress situations and to remain calm under pressure. Students learn basic telecommunications procedures and how to operate emergency dispatch equipment. Most programs take less than a year to complete.

    These programs combine classroom study with simulation programs to give students an opportunity to practice what they have learned. Topics may include:

    Ways To Become An Event Planner (Quick Summary)

    Event Planning Degree

    If you plan on attending a two-year or four-year college, you can look for schools that offer an event planning degree. Actual event planning degrees are not very common and you can find a list of schools that offer this degree on our colleges page. This is the most traditional route.

    Do not worry though there are many degree options that are just as widely accepted as a rare event planning degree. These degrees are sometimes called:

    • hospitality management
    • tourism management
    • event marketing
    • hotel management
    • music production

    Other strong options for a career in event planning are public relations or communications degrees.

    After you receive any of the above degrees, you can gain further qualification by completing an event planning certification program. By having a degree and a certification you greatly increase your chances of getting a job as a planner.

    There are many event planning home study courses available. Some are better than others.

    Event Planning Certifications

    Event planning degreeThere are several certification programs you can get to add to your resume when applying for a job or talking to clients but it is recommended you first complete an event planning degree program or home study course.

    A certification is great but you must still be able to demonstrate your knowledge and experience in order to put it to use.

    Event Planning Internships

    Getting hands-on experience with planning events is very important. Most colleges and home study programs teach you about the industry but you learn better when you get to watch a real event come together.

    This is why creating a portfolio of your work is one of the most important things you can do.

    By doing an internship with an event planning company, you can combine the knowledge from your previous study with hands-on experience for a more powerful resume when applying for a job.

    To get an internship you can either look for openings on popular job sites like Craigslist or you can volunteer at an event with a local non-profit. Often times it is easier to volunteer at events than it is to get hired as an intern. By volunteering at events, you can take photos of the event and document your actions to start putting together your portfolio.

    Event planning degree

    Another important difference is when you volunteer it is typically done on an event-by-event basis; whereas when you intern you are expected to commit to working 10+ hours per week for several months. Both experiences are valuable and you can pursue both simultaneously as long as you have the time.

    SharePoint Config database Log file too big reduce it!

    SharePoint Config database logs are one thing to keep an eye on since they do have a tendency to grow. If you don’t perform a full farm backup usually the log doesn’t get emptied and it just keeps bloating.

    If you’re running SQL Server Express with default installation, you can find the files in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData

    As we see in the example above, even though the database is only 6 megs, the log file grew to 11 gigs. Let’s reduce that:

    1. If you don’t have it yet, download and install SQL Server Management Studio express from here .

    2. Run the Management Studio and connect to your SQL Server.

    3. Expand “Databases” and select your config database “SharePoint_Config”.

    4. Right Click it, select Tasks –> Shrink –> Files

    5. In the new window select Release unused space and click OK .

    If that doesn’t decrease the database size much, do the following:

    1. First to be on the safe side, let’s back it up (this step is optional)

    type the following:

    BACKUP LOG [Sharepoint_Config] TO DISK=’D:configLogBackup.bak’
    GO

    where SharePoint_Config is the name of your config database file and D:configlogbackup.bak is the location and file name of where you’ll make the backup.

    This may take a while if your log file is big.

    2. Next clear the query (or click New Query again) and enter the following commands

    BACKUP LOG [Sharepoint_Config] WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY
    USE [SharePoint_Config]
    GO

    anc click Execute again

    3. Clear the query or open another query tab and enter the next command:

    DBCC SHRINKFILE (N’SharePoint_Config_log’. 50)
    GO

    The 50 in the command above sets the size in MB to truncate the log to. If your config db is of different name, replace the SharePoint_Config part above with your config db name.

    And click Execute yet again.

    The result you get should be something like below:

    and ofcourse the file size:

    ahhh. finally some space.

    HI my SharePoint_Config_log.LDF file size is increased upto 30 gb and i used the same step and it show me same screen also after running command.But it did not shrink my SharePoint_Config_log.LDF file stil it is showing same size but in i got message that:
    Cannot shrink log file 2 (SharePoint_Config_log) because all logical log files are in use.

    Event Planning Contract

    Knowing how to create a solid event planning contract is one of the most important steps you can take in protecting you and your event. In “the good ole’ days,” a person could be held accountable by his or her word and a handshake. Unfortunately, those days are gone; and if you don’t have a legally binding event planning contract to back you up when things go wrong, then you don’t have a leg to stand on.

    You might have noticed that I said “for when things go wrong,” not if things go wrong. Because “events” were given that name for a reason; they are live gatherings where eventful things occur. in other words, something ALWAYS goes wrong!

    For this reason, having a solid, legally-binding event planning contract is absolutely necessary in the event business.

    Types of Event Planning Contracts

    In the world of events, just about everyone needs a contract to “CYB” (cover your bum). Here are some examples of the contracts that are needed for any given event:

    • The event planner and the client need a contract to outline the terms of service; including fees, payment schedules, cancellation clauses, time-lines, and overall expectations.
    • The event planner and the venue need a client to solidify dates, fees, cancellation clauses, and overall expectations.
    • The venue, in turn, needs contracts with every vendor that helps them out; including food vendors, security companies, staging and audio visual companies, parking services, and so on.
    • The event planner needs a contract with any supplemental staff, including on-site coordinators or other contractors she has hired to help her out.
    • The event planner needs a contract with every vendor that will be a part of her event; including catering companies, audio visual companies, production companies, keynote speakers, decor companies, DMC or transportation companies, entertainment, disc jockeys, and so on.
    • When dealing with entertainment, especially big-name entertainment, you will contract either with the agency that is providing the entertainer, or with the production company, or with the entertainer directly. Additionally, the entertainer usually provides a rider, which is an additional contract that outlines other requirements that you must provide for the entertainer.

    It is important to note that different representatives enter into different contracts with various vendors. For example, a concert venue will contract with a food supplier to order the food for an event and the security needed to control traffic and manage crowd control. The event planner, on the other hand, has a contract with the venue, and perhaps a separate security company that is hired to protect her high-profile keynote speaker. The venue is in charge of anything as it relates to the venue; the planner is in charge of anything as it relates to her event.

    So, as you can see, contracts are a necessary way of life for anyone that hopes to plan an event of any kind!

    How Can I Get a Sample Event Planning Contract?

    Another legal element that is necessary to protect you and your event involves insurance, permits, and licenses. Each event involves different legal requirements depending on the type of event, where it is hosted, what the content is all about, etc.

    As you can see, there are a lot different types of legal elements in the event planning business, and each one is vitally important. So important, in fact, that I can’t cover it all in one webpage. This is one area that you can not afford to mess up; without a legally binding event planning contract and the correct insurance, licenses, and permits for every area of your event, you are leaving yourself wide open for lawsuits and lost money.

    If you landed here you are probably receiving the following error:

    The Diagnostic Service Host service failed to start due to the following error:
    A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration. You may use the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in (services.msc) and the Local Security Settings MMC snap-in (secpol.msc) to view the service configuration and the account configuration.

    Event ID 7000

    This is registered as Event ID 7000 Service Control Manager in the Event Viewer.

    To fix this follow the steps below.

    Step 1

    On your domain controller or a computer with access to edit your network group policies, launch the Group Policy Management Editor by going to RUN and typing gpedit.msc.

    Step 2

    Make sure you have selected a policy that everyone will get, or if you have administrative rights you could add this to your local machine policy. Under Computer Configuration go down to Security Settings Local Policies User Rights Assignment.

    Step 3

    Under Profile System Performance add LOCAL SERVICE to the groups that have access to run this.

    Step 4

    Now on the machine you are receiving the error on, run gpupdate /force .

    Step 5

    I had to restart my machine for the errors to stop disappearing. I would recommend restarting. After you have restarted, check the system event viewer logs and the Service Control Manager should now be running without any errors.

    wbadmin.msc fails to start

    Is MozyPro the most up to date version? I am suspecting an error in their software. I would first try uninstalling it, rebooting, and installing the most up to date version.

    The errors are so far that I see, are only on the D: drive, and it’s shadow copies.

    How much data is on the D: drive, how much free space is there, and how much space are the shadow copies configured to use?

    Run checkdisk ‘chkdsk D: /R’ overnight (reboot, and let it run if there are any in use files) See if it repairs any errors.
    Try to backup the C: drive instead of D: and see if you get the same errors.
    I would also try an external usb / drive, and run wbadmin against it. This will separate a disk problem, or a windows backup problem.

    If none of those work, then I would do the following, one by one trying to backup after each:

    Uninstall Mozy Pro completely, and reboot.
    Disable Shadow copies, and System Restore on D: (assuming C: backs up okay.)

    Please also post the exact command / script / configuration (if using the gui) that calls wbadmin.

    This is a remote server for me and I need to be there to reboot (halts at F2) so I will have to update next week. I was able to capture the attached screen shot. Files services are not running?

    The wdpostman Service seems to crash with Event ID 7023 after the system reboots.

    On 9/29 KB2158563 was installed at 12:45 PM. The server rebooted, it came back up at 12:59. The clock here jumps from 12:45 to 12:59, then back to 12:45 again. It comes back up at 1:02:39. It shuts down again at 1:07:58, and comes back up by 1:14:05. It doesn’t show a user doing this, but this is the day that your issues start.

    Between 11:40 PM on 9/29, and 2:30 AM on 9/30 there are a slew of ‘controller errors’:

    The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2. (The 2nd IDE port)

    This correlates to the first backup operation that actually failed (albeit 10 minutes later) with error code ‘2155347997’.

    Also at 11:31 PM on 9/30 through 10/5 the following is shown:

    Event ID 55: Source: Ntfs:
    The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume \\?\Volume.

    To find out which Guid that disk is referencing run the command ‘mountvol’ without any arguments.

    Ultimately it looks to me like Your hard drive is corrupt. If that is the C: drive, and checkdisk doesn’t fix it, you will need to reformat / restore from backup / replace the server. If it is D. then you may be okay, but you will need to do more troubleshooting to see if you can run the backup on another Volume.

    Also, there are a slew of these events:

    This is your Domain Controller trying to register Service records on a dns server, the dns server seems to be external to your network. I don’t know how it is setup, but unless you have a partner organization, or other domain located here, that attempted propagation needs to either be fixed, or blown away.

    Have the controller errors come back up in the eventlog? If it is a bad hard drive array controller (ide in this case), or a bad disk rebuilding on the same hardware will only delay the onset of this, or similar errors recurring.

    Does the server reboot by itself ever, and are there any files in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory? (BSOD crash dumps).

    How to Get There: The track is approximately 30 miles southwest of Chicago on Route 53 (historic Route 66), three miles south of Interstate 80 in Joliet. From points north, take I-355 south to I-80 west to Route 53/Chicago Street (Exit 132) and proceed south to the track. From points south, take I-55 north to Arsenal Road, then proceed east to Route 53 north to the track. From points east and west, take I-80 to Exit 132 (Route 53) and follow Route 53 south to the track.
