Reviews for Big Bucks Auto

Fast and very fair price. They even gave me cash back for my taxi ride home. I really felt comfortable with the team at BigBucksAuto and would recommend as the place to go to sell your car online for cash fast.

they speak my language! I felt comfortable selling my car to Big Bucks Auto because it was easier to relate to john (an employee) because he spoke spanish. From the research i have done, they offered me a fair offer and even gave me money toward my car service to return home. Overall my experience was a pleasure and I walked out with a check for $3,000 in a short period of time, and was able to payoff some debt.

Good Car Company Selling your car in NYC is such a pain in the butt. Big Bucks Auto made me a decent offer and rather than deal with the psychos of private sale, I took the money. They even gave a some money to get back home.

YA TU SABE NUMERO #1! I owed so much cash on my car it was ridiculous. I tryed selling it on my own but i had no luck. I saw Big Bucks commercial on TV. I came through to Big Bucks and they made me an offer and payed off my car. No more monthly payments and no more debt.

AWESOME COMPANY I got a great job offer in Miami, which meant that I would need to relocate. I searched on google. for a car-buying company and big bucks auto popped up. I gave them a call and they gave me a quote. It seemed too good to be true, so I went into their location on the weekend to check them out. Eugene appraised my car. He was very helpful and extremely informative. We were able to make a deal and now I m off to MIA!

THE BEST OF THE BEST i just wanted to let everybody know that they are really good they actuaclly bought my honda civic 1996 and they really helped me out buying my vehicle i was tired of havind a vehicle in the city.it was so fast and the process with the paper work was so fast.

BigBucksAuto is a blessing from above! Tired of hauling my auto from parking spot to garage, I decided to finially cut the cord! I can’t believe how easy it was to get rid of it!

Saved me! I was sitting around with a 2003 honda, had a bunch of miles on it, felt like it was just costing me money to sit in my driveway. When i saw the commercial for big bucks, I thought about bringing my car in, but ended up sitting around for a few more months not doing anything with it. tried selling it through the paper, only to be frustrated by the flakiness of people. One day i just got into the car and drove down to Big Bucks and to my surprise they took the car of my hands that hour with cash in pocket! and i took the subway home. lol

Good place to sell your car in New York! After going to a local dealership and getting an offer on my car, I decided to search online for places to sell my car in the City. I came across Big Bucks Auto online and along with it some mixed reviews. I saw for example the negative review above. The review itself seemed a little contrived (I started laughing when I read it), but it made me skeptical nonetheless. When I searched the company’s web site, I found a response by the owner to the type of negative reviews like the one above, and was convinced that the Big Buck Auto seemed more trustworthy than some of the reviews I had read about it.

Big Bucks Auto = Avoid At All Costs! They Lied to us and then to TOP that off. They Tried to delete our FEEDBACKS on different SITES! UNBELIEVABLE! My husband and I needed to sell a car of ours to pay bills. We decided to check out a bunch of sites online. We found Big Bucks Auto. Called them up and got a quote . We went to Big Bucks Auto with the high hopes of selling our SUV ASAP! (were we wrong. ) When we got there the lying began. and didn’t stop. Our salesmen was Jose. Jose took a look at our car and told us a completely different number than what was offered to us over the phone. I can understand if someone told us 12000 – 14000 on the phone. and then came back and said you know the car’s not in ‘that’ great of shape, we’ll give you 11500. Nope! He offered us 8500. We stood up and walked toward the exit. He told us what would be the least we would take for it. We were so offended, but we needed to sell our truck. So we sat down. (bad mistake) He went back and forth to his boss’ office like 10 times. He kept coming back to us playing the good cop , bad cop routine. I could see my husband almost boiling. My husband warned me a few days earlier that a co-worker got jerked around in a similar fashion. I of course being the stubborn one, suggested we give them a try. (thinking maybe this wasnt typical behavior) I have never been so wrong in my life. I must have apologized to my husband 100 times over. After a complete and utter waste of our time, we decided to check out a place in Manhattan, Car Cash. My husband told me he heard of them from when he used to listen to Howard Stern. To make a long story short. we got there and sold it within a half hour or so. I can’t express in the strongest terms how completely unprofessional and rude this company claims to be. Afterwards I read up on them. They have been in business for 3 generations? How is that possible? In all my years in Queens, never heard about these guys until I did an online search. I worked near Big Bucks Auto and they were NEVER there 30, 20, 10 or even 8 years ago. They keep deleting our feedbacks. Gee I wonder why?

This wouldn’t be somebody from Car Cash would it? It sure seems like it. If there was ever such a problem we would have and still do everything in our power to help our customers. If there’s any dissatisfaction, then please feel free to call us 1-888-44-BUCKS

Sell your car easily and fast I originally went to Big Bucks Auto because I wanted to try their free car appraisal services just to find out how much I could get for my car. When I found out how much I could get I decided to sell it anyway, and it was incredibly fast. WIthin twenty five minutes I had my car sold and was walking out the door.

1. Ruger Model 44 (44 Carbine)

2. Remington Model 750

Remington semi-autos are probably the most popular big game rifles of their kind. Long the most affordable semi-auto deer rifle when it comes to high-powered cartridges, they have held their ground through various Models such as the 74, 740, 742, and 7400. While I m not a big fan of Remington centerfire autoloaders, a lot of hunters are, and they have taken a lot of game over the years. More

3. Browning BAR

Since its introduction in 1967, the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) has set the standard for autoloading centerfire hunting rifles. Known for excellent accuracy and dependability, the BAR also lives up to Browning s reputation for high quality and usability. For decades, it was the only commercial auto chambered for magnum cartridges. Long Trac and Short Trac versions signify a newer generation rifle, which bears little resemblance to the original. The BAR is available in calibers from 243 through 338 Win Mag.

I own an older Belgian-made model in 30-06, which has been used to make a clean head shot on a deer at 100 yards. More

I recently sold my car as I no longer needed to drive to an office every day for my job.  I have a very busy job that requires me to work a lot of hours, so dealing with putting up ads, answering phone calls and emails would have been a pain and I live in Manhattan, so setting up a test drive would have been a pain.  Also, I was not getting another car, so going to a dealer was not going to happen either.

Adding all of this up, I went to Big Bucks Auto.  These guys buy cars pretty much on the spot from people and are not creepy used car salesmen.  They were all friendly and professional and work quickly.  They ran the history on my car, did a physical inspection, went on a test drive and put an offer together.  BAM! That was fast.  They handle all the paperwork, they will even pay off your loan and deal with bank / financing company hassle for you.  The whole process took an hour or so.  They are also a few blocks from an E F  train station, so after you sell your car, you can easily get home.

Although they pay less than what you could get selling the car yourself on Craigslist or Ebay,  it is way less hassle and if you are a very busy person, it is totally worth it.

Get Big Money for Scrap Batteries

Show All Items

I just got paid $300 cash for two dozen old lead-acid batteries. Here’s how.

A lot of readers are asking: Where do I get dead batteries? :

I mostly got these batteries by seeing and asking for them. New cars wreck batteries pretty quick because the car computer never really turns off. So if the car isn’t driven regularly it’ll over-discharge and sulfate the battery.

I tell my friends to give me their toxic waste and I’ll get rid of it, cuz I hate seeing buckets of drain oil left out in the rain. They give me their dead batteries also.

I picked up a few behind service stations and parts stores where people had orphaned them. A few came from my marina next to the dumpster, more came from the marine supply store. I told them I was experimenting with desulfating batteries and they told me to help myself to their scrap pile. Some came back to life from various magic treatments and I gave them to friends or built them into projects.

Those projects included as welders and power storage for solar welders. running power tools off them, as well as starting and lighting batteries for the Free Yacht.

I finally got around to taking the bad ones to the scrapyard and damn!

Here’s what the robo-cashier at the scrapyard gave me for my load of toxic waste!

Batteries are worth real money now, if you can find the right buyer.

Step 1: Check the Market

Show All Items

The market goes up and down. Right now the dollar is low and China and India are buying scrap like crazy to sell it back to us as products. That drives up scrap values. Our military shooting and attracting bullets all over the world doesn’t hurt the value of lead either.

Check the values online or in your paper, if it has a commodity markets listing.

You’ll get less than this, because you’re not selling a train car full. Unlike retail economics, in collection economics smaller quantities are worth less per pound.

If you have a huge quantity, bargain up for a higher price. The yards that load ships won’t usually bother with you unless you’ve got truckloads, but if you do, they’ll pay accordingly higher.

TL means Truck Load . LTL means Less than Truckload .

Strict Transport Security in ASP.NET MVC: Implementing RequireHstsAttribute

Strict Transport Security in ASP.NET MVC: Implementing RequireHstsAttribute

Discover how to protect your applications from known and unknown vulnerabilities.

HTTPS is the core mechanism for accessing web resources in a secure way. One of the limitations of HTTPS is the fact that the user can manually provide a URL which doesn’t contain the proper schema. In most cases, this will result in the application sending a redirect response which will tell the browser to re-request the resource using HTTPS. Unfortunately, this redirect creates a risk of a Man-in-the-Middle attack. Strict Transport Security is a security enhancement which allows web applications to inform browsers that they should always use HTTPS when accessing a given domain.

Strict Transport Security defines Strict-Transport-Security header with two directives: required max-age and optional includeSubDomains. From the moment the browser receives the Strict-Transport-Security header, it should consider the host as a Known HSTS Host for the number of seconds specified in the max-age directive. Being a Known HSTS Host means that the browser should always use HTTPS for communication. In the initially described scenario (user providing HTTP schema or no schema at all), the browser should cancel the initial request by itself and change the schema to HTTPS. Specifying the includeSubDomains directive means that a given rule applies also to all subdomains of the current domain.

In order to implement this behavior in an ASP.NET MVC application, we need to fulfill two requirements: issue a redirect when a request is being made with HTTP, and send the header when a request is being made with HTTPS. The first behavior is already available through RequireHttpsAttribute so we can inherit it – we just need to add the second.

We can now use this attribute, for example, by adding it to our global filters collection.

From this moment, our application will be enforcing HSTS. But the initial problem still has not been fully resolved – there is still that one redirect which can happen if the application is not accessed over HTTPS the first time. This is why HSTS Preload List has been created. This service allows for submitting domains which should be hardcoded, as Known HSTS Hosts, in the browsers – this removes the risk of that one potential redirect. The service is hosted by Google, but all major browsers vendors have stated that they will be using the submitted list of domains.

If one wants to include his/her application on the HSTS Preload List, after submitting the domain additional steps needs to be taken. The application must confirm the submission by including preload directive in the Strict-Transport-Security header and fulfill some additional criteria:

  • Be HTTPS only and serve all subdomains over HTTPS.
  • The value of max-age directive must be at least eighteen weeks.
  • The includeSubdomains directive must be present.

Some small adjustments to our attribute are needed in order to handle this additional scenario.

Now we have full HSTS support with preloading in an easy to use attribute just waiting to be used in your application. You can find cleaned up source code here .

Our auto insurance comparison made easy section can guide you through the most common questions asked in regards to auto insurance.

Is there a way to get one auto insurance quotes comparison to find the best auto insurance policy for you? Do you go with the cheap auto insurance policy or more complete coverage? Let NetQuote help you choose your insurance. There are more options than just accepting the state minimum guidelines. In fact, auto insurance is a risk mitigation policy. Say as a salesperson you drive a thousand miles a week; the chances of you being in a fender bender are greater annually. Selecting the right auto insurance will keep you out of harm s way when it comes to legality.

The best way to start saving money on a new policy for your auto insurance is to manage your deductible. The higher the amount the less your monthly auto insurance payment. The higher amount will transfer the burden to you, however, if you have an accident involving small repairs to your vehicle. This is one of the many ways you can save on NetQuote. We ll help guide you through the maze of auto insurance quotes comparison. Once you have those policy offers in hand, we will help you understand what can increase and decrease your monthly premium.

It All Starts with Your Car

A large part of an insurance premium depends on the type of car you drive. Is it a Corvette? Lamborghini? Maybe a Ferrari? Or perhaps you drive a Chevy Cobalt? Each car will impact the base cost of your monthly insurance mainly for the replacement value of the vehicle. In fact, some states and auto insurance companies will not cover certain vehicles. Also, high theft risk cars cost more to cover as well. Hummers, for example, are more costly than other SUVs and one of the determining aspects is the Hummer is stolen more often than other models. Either way, your premium may be higher due to one of those situations. Since you probably won’t be going out and buying a new car just to lower your auto insurance, it’s good to know what else can affect the costs of a new policy.

The amount of coverage is another big factor in determining your premium. If you’re comfortable with a high deductible and the possible out-of-pocket expenses that might occur, you can lower your premium. Similarly, lower liability limits can also decrease your premium. But always remember that means you may pay more in the long run. Predictive Analytics Guide

Predictive analytics is information technology that produces a predictive score for each customer or other organizational element. Assigning these predictive scores is the job of a predictive model which has, in turn, been trained over your data, learning from the experience of your organization.

Predictive analytics optimizes marketing campaigns and website behavior to increase customer responses, conversions and clicks, and to decrease churn. Each customer’s predictive score informs actions to be taken with that customer data science just doesn’t get more actionable than that.

What’s the best way to learn about predictive analytics? There’s no better way to learn than from concrete case studies such as those presented by Fortune 500 analytics competitors and other top practitioners at the next Predictive Analytics World. In the meanwhile, start by taking a look through the resources listed below on this page.

Uplift Modeling: Predictive Analytics Can t Optimize Marketing Decisions Without It
To drive business decisions for maximal impact, analytical models must predict the marketing influence of each decision on customer buying behavior. Uplift modeling provides the means to do this, improving upon conventional response and churn models that introduce significant risk by optimizing for the wrong thing. This shift is fundamental to empirically driven decision making. This convention-altering white paper, reveals the why and how, and delivers case study results that multiply the ROI of predictive analytics by factors up to 11.

    Little Brother

    Newsflash

    Most of the web is under continous construction;
these pages even more so at the moment. Please stay tuned.

See the links at the bottom of this page for the interesting stuff.

    Introduction

Here’s yet another open-source network monitoring tool, developed by the Cistron group. It can keep track of all sorts of services running on all sorts of hosts in a network (such as the entire Internet, if you like), report on failures as desired, and store results of its checks in a database.

Little Brother (LB ) was designed to monitor network operation, not to detect intrusions. By logging status information to a database, it enables quality of service auditing as well as guarding servers and services. Cistron uses the package to ensure that customers’ websites, as well as its own, are up and serving data; to warn when printers run out of paper or toner; to compare network reliability to that of its competitors; and even to monitor (and, if necessary, restart) copies of itself running on various servers.

Little Brother is available under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL ).

    Requirements

The following are currently required to compile and run Little Brother:

    • Debian GNU/Linux. We hope to loosen this requirement in the future.
    • The adduser program to create a new dedicated user for LB.
    • Superuser privileges on your system, ie. the ability to run programs as root.
    • The PostgreSQL RDBMS, version 7.0.3 or newer.
    • Highly recommended: the lb-scripts plugins package.
    • A fairly complete C++ compiler, eg. gcc 2.95.2 or newer.

    Why We Did It

There are many network monitoring tools out there, many of them available as Free Software. These include Angel. autostatus. Big Brother. Big Sister. BigBen. NetSaint. etc. Feature-wise, Little Brother isn’t the best package out there by far.

One problem that many of these tools have in common however, is code quality. Written to get the job done, they are frequently sloppy in handling unexpected results or error conditions. Little Brother has been written and inspected specifically with such conditions in mind, and usually handles them well.

Guide to big data analytics tools, trends and best practices

    Introduction

By now, many companies have decided that big data is not just a buzzword, but a new fact of business life — one that requires having strategies in place for managing large volumes of both structured and unstructured data. And with the reality of big data comes the challenge of analyzing it in a way that brings real business value. Business and IT leaders who started by addressing big data management issues are now looking to use big data analytics to identify trends, detect patterns and glean other valuable findings from the sea of information available to them.

It can be tempting to just go out and buy big data analytics software, thinking it will be the answer to your company’s business needs. But big data analytics technologies on their own aren’t sufficient to handle the task. Well-planned analytical processes and people with the talent and skills needed to leverage the technologies are essential to carry out an effective big data analytics initiative. Buying additional tools beyond an organization’s existing business intelligence and analytics applications may not even be necessary depending on a project’s particular business goals.

This Essential Guide consists of articles and videos that offer tips and practical advice on implementing successful big data analytics projects. Use the information resources collected here to learn about big data analytics best practices from experienced users and industry analysts — from identifying business goals to selecting the best big data analytics tools for your organization’s needs.

Damages in a New York Truck Accident

Because of their size and weight, accidents with trucks tend to cause more damage than accidents involving smaller vehicles. If you’ve been in an accident involving a large truck, you may be able to pursue compensation for any of the following damages:

    • Current medical bills
    • Future medical bills related to the initial accident
    • Loss of limb
    • Pain and suffering
    • Costs of physical therapy and rehabilitation
    • Permanent injury or disability
    • Home and vehicle modifications (such as wheelchair ramps and lifts)
    • Property damage or loss
    • Mental anguish and emotional duress
    • Lost wages from time off of work
    • Loss of career or earning capacity

Wrongful Death Damages in a New York Truck Accident

In the tragic event that you’ve lost a loved one in an accident involving a big rig, you may be entitled to any of the following damages in a truck accident wrongful death claim :

    • Funeral and burial expenses
    • Medical bills
    • Pain and suffering of the deceased before they died
    • Loss of future income
    • Loss of future benefits (such as medical benefits and retirement)
    • Loss of household services the deceased provided (such as childcare, vehicle and property maintenance, chores, etc.)
    • Loss of love, affection, companionship, guidance, marital consortium, etc.

    Large Truck Accident Facts

Accidents involving large trucks account for over 130,000 injuries and 5,000 deaths each year in the United States. Almost 35 percent of those injuries can be categorized as catastrophic. Trucks over 10,000 pounds (tractor trailers or big rigs) represent only three percent of all registered motor vehicles, but are responsible for 25 percent of all fatal automobile accidents. This is mainly because of a tractor trailer’s size and weight. A fully loaded big rig can legally weigh up to 80,000 pounds, about twenty times the weight of the average passenger vehicle (which is about 4,000 pounds). Big rigs are also very powerful. In a collision, they can strike another vehicle with the force of 20 cars.

    Federal Regulations for Large Trucks

Because tractor trailers are so large, powerful, and dangerous, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has instituted strict regulations for these trucks and their operators. We mentioned the 80,000 load limit in the previous section, but the FMCSA also regulates the amount of hours and consecutive hours a tractor trailer driver can drive during a day and week. The FMCSA also mandates that truck owners perform regular maintenance checks on their vehicles and make any necessary repairs. These regulations are meant to make the roads we share with large trucks safer.

Unfortunately, many trucking companies don’t follow these rules and encourage their drivers to skirt regulations in order to increase profits. These illegal practices can include:

    • Speeding
    • Overloading trailers
    • Driving more hours than federally mandated
    • Not taking rest breaks
    • Driving in dangerous weather
    • Driving when fatigued

    Causes of Large Truck Accidents

There are many factors that can result in a truck accident, including:

    • Speeding
    • Driver sleepiness or exhaustion
    • Lack of or improper vehicle maintenance
    • Defective vehicle parts
    • Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs
    • Reckless Driving
    • Tire blowouts
    • Poor weather conditions
    • Poor road conditions
    • Overloading
    • Blind spots

Contact an Experienced NYC Truck Accident Attorney

If you’ve been injured or lost a loved one in an accident involving a large truck, it’s important to remember that trucking companies carry large insurance policies due to the dangers their vehicles and operators pose to other drivers. But, their insurers aren’t necessarily going to offer you the settlement you deserve. To get a settlement worthy of your injuries or lost loved one, it’s important that you’re represented by an experienced attorney.

Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro & Halperin, LLP has been fighting for the rights of New York injury victims for decades. Call our offices today for a free consultation at (212) 986-7353.

I owed so much cash on my car it was ridiculous. I tryed selling it on my own but i had no luck. I saw Big Bucks commercial on TV. I came through to Big Bucks and they made me an offer and payed off my car. No more monthly payments and no more debt.

I got a great job offer in Miami, which meant that I would need to relocate. I searched on google. for a car-buying company and big bucks auto popped up. I gave them a call and they gave me a quote. It seemed too good to be true, so I went into their location on the weekend to check them out. Eugene appraised my car. He was very helpful and extremely informative. We were able to make a deal and now I’m off to MIA!

i just wanted to let everybody know that they are really good they actuaclly bought my honda civic 1996 and they really helped me out buying my vehicle i was tired of havind a vehicle in the city.it was so fast and the process with the paper work was so fast.\r \r hank you for everything

Tired of hauling my auto from parking spot to garage, I decided to finially cut the cord! I can’t believe how easy it was to get rid of it! \r I can’t say I know how BigBucksAuto does what they do or what they do with the cars after I happily skipped away, but I heart them!\r

One day i just got into the car and drove down to Big Bucks and to my surprise they took the car of my hands that hour with cash in pocket! and i took the subway home. lol

\r \r I went out to Big Bucks Auto today to see what offer I could get for my car. The associate I dealt with was cordial and helpful. At first he made an offer that I wasn’t comfortable with accepting (since I had already been given an offer by the dealership), but then they test drove my car, we talk some more, and I was able to negotiate a sell price that I was comfortable with. Once that took place, I was out of the door in minutes with a check in hand!\r \r If you’re considering selling you car in the city, I would recommend you check out Big Bucks. They treated me fairly and respectfully, and I honestly would have given them a positive review whether or not I decided to sell to them.

Big Bucks Auto. How do places like THIS. STAY in business?

    by loris71 on 07/12/2008

I am writing this as a warning to anyone thinking about contacting Big Bucks Auto. DON’T! Here is why. We could tell right off the bat something was. off shall we say? Something about him and the place reminded us why USED CAR DEALERS have a certain reputation. Anyway. we told him of our situation. What seemed like less than a minute. Jose took a look at our car and told us a completely different number than what was offered to us over the phone. I can understand if someone told us 12000 – 14000 on the phone. and then came back and said you know the car’s not in ‘that’ great of shape. yada. yada. yada, we’ll give you 11500. Nope! He offered us 8500. We immediately stood up and walked toward the exit. He told us what would be the least we would take for it. At this point we were so offended, but we needed to sell our truck. So we sat down. (bad mistake) He went back and forth to his boss’ office like 10 times. He kept coming back to us playing the good cop , bad cop routine. I could see my husband’s blood boiling. My husband warned me a few days earlier that a co-worker got jerked around in a similar fashion. I of course being the stubborn one, suggested we give them a try. (thinking that maybe this wasn’t the typical protocol of how they treat a customer) I have never been so wrong in my life. I must have apologized to my husband 100 times over. After a complete and utter waste of our time, we decided to check out a place in Manhattan, Car Cash. My husband told me he heard of them from when he used to listen to Howard Stern. To make a long story short. we got there and sold it within a half hour or so. I really don’t want to spend time talking about the positives of Car Cash. I can’t express in the strongest terms how completely unprofessional and rude this company claims to be. Afterwards I did some research and read on their website that they have been in business for 3 generations. How is that possible? In all my years in Queens, I never heard about these guys until I did a GOOGLE search. I used to work near Big Bucks Auto and they were NEVER there 30 years ago, 20 years ago, 10 years ago or even 8 years ago. In closing, don’t waste your time or even the energy to think about this company. My husband and I will NEVER go to Big Bucks Auto and nor will we suggest them to anyone. no matter what! I’ve already suggested to a couple girlfriends of mine who have SUVs to sell them to Car Cash. Hopefully, this helped someone. Lori S.

New Autotrader Study: Consumers Want Big Changes to the Car Buying Process – Mar 31, 2015 #auto #treader

    Car Buyer of the Future

ATLANTA. March 31, 2015 /PRNewswire / — Autotrader s Car Buyer of the Future study, which was released today, shows that only 17 out of 4002 people prefer the current car buying process, and the rest want significant changes, particularly in the test drive, deal structuring, financing paperwork and service phases. As a leader in the automotive retail space, Autotrader is sharing the findings of the study to aid in the industry s understanding of consumer behavior and help dealers and manufacturers prepare to meet the needs of tomorrow s car buyers.

While there is good work going on right now to adapt decades-old sales processes, consumers are telling us that we as an industry are not moving fast enough, said Jared Rowe. president of Autotrader. By recognizing and embracing the need for change, we have a tremendous opportunity to surprise and delight our consumers.

A multiphase study that included a quantitative survey among 4002 car shoppers and buyers, the Car Buyer of the Future study identifies which changes consumers desire, the underlying reasons behind those changes and the benefit to dealers and manufacturers adopting to tomorrow s car buyers. In addition to identifying the changes that consumers do want, the study also dispels some commonly held beliefs about the future of car buying.

    Dispelling Myths about the Future

Some commonly held beliefs about the future of car buying are that sales people will be less important in the future; consumers don t want to negotiate; and that lowest price will always win. In fact, the study shows the opposite.

    • Myth #1: Sales people will be less important in the future. In fact, the dealership and its sales people will continue to play a very important role in the car buying process. Eighty-four percent of consumers in the study indicate that they want to buy a car in person. Further, 43 percent see the dealership as a place to learn. At the dealership, consumers want to validate information they found online and learn about the following: specials, offers, warranty and service.
    • Myth #2: Consumers don t want to negotiate. Over half, 56 percent, of consumers prefer to negotiate, according to the study, and two of the most influential groups in car buying Millennials and females also prefer negotiating over flat rate pricing. This is a result of the fact that consumers do not yet trust flat rate pricing, and they feel that they have to negotiate to get a fair price.
    • Myth #3: Lowest price will always win. While price is important to consumers, the dealership experience can trump lowest price: 54 percent say that they would buy from a dealership that offered their preferred experience over lowest price. Additionally, 73 percent report that they are willing to drive farther for a great salesperson, versus 65 percent who are willing to drive to get the lowest price.

The Biggest Changes Need to Come in Four Main Areas:

    1. Test Drives. While 88 percent of consumers say they will not buy a car without test driving it first, the majority report that they do not prefer the way test drives are currently conducted (an accompanied test drive with a sales person). Instead, they want more convenience and less pressure while test driving, such as having the ability to test drive multiple vehicles across brands in a single place and taking a test drive with a product specialist instead of a sales person.
    2. Deal Structuring. Negotiating will be a part of the car buying process for the foreseeable future, and consumers indicate that they would like to see a big change in the way they go about negotiating the deal structure. Of those who liked the idea of online deal building, over half, 56 percent, want the ability to start the negotiation on their own terms preferably online and 45 percent would like to remain anonymous until they lock in the deal structure.
    3. Financing Paperwork. Nearly three fourths of consumers, 72 percent, want to complete the credit application and financing paperwork online. The key factors driving this desire are to save time at the dealership (reported by 72 percent of those who favor online paperwork) and to have less pressure while filling out paperwork (reported by 71 percent of those who favor online paperwork). A separate study conducted by Cox Automotive in 2014, showed that the time buyers spend in the F I office averages at 61 minutes, more than two thirds the total amount of time they want to spend at the dealership (90 minutes). Moving paperwork online and enabling consumers to complete it on their own time would greatly enhance the in-dealership experience and cut down on the time they spend in the dealership on the day of purchase.
    4. Service. When it comes to servicing their vehicles, 83 percent of consumers indicate that they would like to have the ability to access a network of local service centers that honor service agreements. The key factor driving this desire is convenience. Of those who prefer local service networks, 76 percent want to go to a service center close by, and 63 percent want to be able to service the vehicle anywhere.

The Benefits for Dealers and Manufacturers who Adapt are Clear

Dealers and manufacturers who focus on creating and ultimately deliver a better shopping and buying experience can reap significant benefits, according to the study:

    • Nearly three fourths (72 percent) of consumers say they would visit dealerships more often if the buying process were improved.
    • Two thirds (66 percent) of consumers say that they would be much more likely to buy from a dealership that offers their preferred experience.
    • Over half (53 percent) of consumers would buy a vehicle more often if the buying process were improved.

The sales environment is expected to remain strong across new, used and CPO cars over the next few years, and it is exciting to see that we have several ways to enhance the consumer experience for the benefit of all involved buyers, manufacturers and retailers. At Autotrader, we will continue doing our part and working closely with our customers and partners to usher in that new reality, Rowe continued.

    About the Study

Big Bucks Auto – Big Buck’s Doesn’t Pay Top Dollar

Big Buck’s commercials air incessantly day and night throughout the tri state area. In those commercials they claim to pay you top dollar for your leased or financed vehicle. To some, they represent a beacon of hope to those that find themselves upside down on car payments and juggling bills to make ends meet. Easier than eBay, easier than craigslist, offering a less embarrassing alternative than running back to the dealer with your tail between your legs and your chin down. Big Buck’s Auto preys on the weak and overstretched.

I too was one of the weak and overstretched. Choking on an exorbitant monthly finance bill for my vehicle, I too sought refuge in what Big Buck’s was promising. “Top dollar cash” for my financed vehicle. I had high hopes. After all, the vehicle wasn’t even a year old, it was in mint condition, and I had barely driven it anywhere. For all intents and purposes it was brand new. I followed the recommendations on their website, put in all of the specs for my vehicle, and within an hour did receive an “instant quote.” Looking at the swing of estimates they provided, I was happy. Even at the lower end of the swing, I was still in good shape. So feeling confident in Big Buck’s, my wife and I made the journey over to Queens to get “top dollar cash” for our vehicle.

As we pulled into the parking lot, I soon had a sinking feeling in my stomach. This place was not what I envisioned. Dirty, sparse, and from what I could tell, run by a gaggle of t-shirt clad twenty-somethings who all were busy on their respective computers more than likely updating their Facebook status. I took a deep breath. OK, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Shortly after walking in, a member of the gaggle came to side and asked if he could be of service. I outlined that I was interested in selling my vehicle and we sat down. He scribbled down some numbers I gave him, asked why I was selling the vehicle (I was honest), and left me to take a quick walk around the vehicle. Not more than 30 seconds later he had returned and was subsequently distracted by a conversation with the gaggle around “what to order for lunch”. Shortly thereafter he returned and sat down. Please note, at no point in time in between returning from my vehicle and figuring out what would cure his hunger did he EVER look at a computer. He then said something that shocked me. “The best that I could do is the low 30’s.” I scratched my head and suggested that was interesting because the “instant quote” I had gotten for my mint, brand new, low mileage vehicle was more than 25% what this t-shirt clad twenty-something was now offering. He then said that the instant quota didn’t matter and I then asked what the purpose of that exercise was…to which he said “to get you in the door.” Realizing I had been had, I than made the decision that I had stayed far too long as is and made my way out of the same door I walked in.

There is a bright side to this story so don’t be discouraged. However you will not find the bright side at Big Buck’s. You’ll have to travel a little farther west to W 55th Street and stop by Car Cash. The only place you should ever consider.

    Unhacking the hacked Jeep® SUV

    Full Article Here: http://blog.fcanorthamerica.com/2015/07/22/unhacking-the-hacked-jeep/

July 24, 2015 update : Click to read about the additional measures that FCA US has taken to ensure the security of the vehicles with particular 8.4-inch touchscreen systems .

Updated to clarify : Due to market access to cellular connectivity, the 8.4 touchscreen issue noted in the blog post is for vehicles sold only in the U.S .

We read about “hacks” every day. All industries are potential targets of a hacker and the automotive industry has been no exception.

Well-known hackers Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek recently teamed-up with a WIRED reporter to publish a story that you may have read about or seen on the news. The story highlights how Miller and Valasek hacked into Miller’s 2014 Jeep® Cherokee and remotely controlled some functions. Miller and Valasek have been working on intentionally hacking into Miller’s vehicle over the past year as part of their on-going research in the area of automotive cybersecurity and have communicated with FCA about some aspects of their work.

To FCA’s knowledge, there has not been a single real world incident of an unlawful or unauthorized remote hack into any FCA vehicle.

After becoming aware of the vulnerabilities in some 2013 and 2014 vehicles equipped with the 8.4 inch touchscreen systems, FCA US and several suppliers worked to fix the vulnerabilities in model year 2015 vehicles. FCA also created a software update that eliminates the vulnerabilities uncovered by Miller and Valasek in their laboratory tests. This software update is available to customers right now and can be downloaded to a USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ and installed in a vehicle.

FCA will be contacting potentially affected customers with these details and has provided the software update to the FCA US dealer network for immediate customer installation.

Customers can enter a vehicle identification number (VIN) and find out if their vehicle needs the software update. If your vehicle needs the update, you can download the software update to a USB drive and install it yourself. Another option is to make an appointment with your FCA US dealership and have them install it for you at no charge. The update, if installed DIY, will take 30-45 minutes, and your vehicle needs to be parked throughout the software update/installation process.

In addition, FCA US has been working with its suppliers to implement additional protocols to block remote access. These changes will not require any action by our customers.

The vehicles listed below that have a 8.4 inch touchscreen radio system need this software update:

    • 2013-2014 Ram 1500 Pickup
    • 2013-2014 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis
    • 2013-2014 Ram 2500 Pickup
    • 2013-2014 Ram 4500/5500 Cab Chassis
    • 2013-2014 Ram 3500 Pickup
    • 2014 Grand Cherokee
    • 2014 Durango
    • 2013-2014 Viper
    • 2014 Cherokee
    • Some 2015 Chrysler 200s

For any questions regarding how to complete the software update please call our Customer Care Center at 1-877-855-8400.

    Prepare to be amaz ed.

Family Vacation: America s Best-Selling Minivans Duke It Out for Our Big Test Crown

Family Vacation: America s Best-Selling Minivans Duke It Out for Our Big Test Crown

    Share this article in:

Growing up, I had a lot of fun in our family s minivans. Our family s first car was a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan SE that my dad used to shuttle me to early-morning hockey practice. (My little brothers would hide half-eaten bagels in the seats.)

When it wasn t schlepping hockey gear and old bagels around, our family used it for our annual summer vacation from Brooklyn to Bethany Beach, Delaware. Filled with boogie boards, Game Boys, and what felt like everything my mom owned, our forest-green Grand Caravan became everything from an Army helicopter to a karaoke room as my brothers and I entertained ourselves on the journey.

To my 9-year-old self, nothing was cooler than that van and the fun-filled vacations it promised.

For most minivan buyers there’s no driving trait more important than ride and handling.

Sometime between the time our family s second minivan caught fire in 2002 (long story) and the end of the decade, the popularity of the minivan plummeted. The market went from more than 11 models at its peak to just eight or so, depending on who s counting. The meat of the market is covered by the five Big Test competitors you see here: the 2014 Chrysler Town Country S, 2015 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite, 2015 Kia Sedona SXL, 2014 Nissan Quest LE, and the 2015 Toyota Sienna SE.

    Ride Handling

Although going fast can be nice, for most minivan buyers there s no driving trait more important than ride and handling—after all, poor ride and handling characteristics can result in carsick children stuck in the third row. (Ask me how I know.) To test each van s ride and handling abilities, we devised a drive loop in Los Angeles ritzy Palos Verdes area. This diverse loop included stop-and-go suburban traffic, bits of highway speeds, and a rough section of road.

    Services

I felt comfortable selling my car to Big Bucks Auto because it was easier to relate to john (an employee) because he spoke spanish. From the research i have done, they offered me a fair offer and even gave me money toward my car service to return home. Overall my experience was a pleasure and I walked out with a check for $3,000 in a short period of time, and was able to payoff some debt.

We were able to make a deal and now I’m off to MIA!

i just wanted to let everybody know that they are really good they actuaclly bought my honda civic 1996 and they really helped me out buying my vehicle i was tired of havind a vehicle in the city.it was so fast and the process with the paper work was so fast.\r \r hank you for everything

    by on 06/15/2010

Tired of hauling my auto from parking spot to garage, I decided to finially cut the cord! I can’t believe how easy it was to get rid of it! \r I can’t say I know how BigBucksAuto does what they do or what they do with the cars after I happily skipped away, but I heart them!\r

    by on 12/08/2009

I was sitting around with a 2003 honda, had a bunch of miles on it, felt like it was just costing me money to sit in my driveway. When i saw the commercial for big bucks, I thought about bringing my car in, but ended up sitting around for a few more months not doing anything with it. tried selling it through the paper, only to be frustrated by the flakiness of people. One day i just got into the car and drove down to Big Bucks and to my surprise they took the car of my hands that hour with cash in pocket! and i took the subway home. lol

    by on 11/30/2009

After going to a local dealership and getting an offer on my car, I decided to search online for places to sell my car in the City. I came across Big Bucks Auto online and along with it some mixed reviews. I saw for example the negative review above. The review itself seemed a little contrived (I started laughing when I read it), but it made me skeptical nonetheless. When I searched the company’s web site, I found a response by the owner to the type of negative reviews like the one above, and was convinced that the Big Buck Auto seemed more trustworthy than some of the reviews I had read about it.

Lori S.

New Autotrader Study: Consumers Want Big Changes to the Car Buying Process – Mar 31, 2015 #buy #a #car

    #auto tader
    #

    Services

I felt comfortable selling my car to Big Bucks Auto because it was easier to relate to john (an employee) because he spoke spanish. From the research i have done, they offered me a fair offer and even gave me money toward my car service to return home. Overall my experience was a pleasure and I walked out with a check for $3,000 in a short period of time, and was able to payoff some debt.

Tired of hauling my auto from parking spot to garage, I decided to finially cut the cord! I can’t believe how easy it was to get rid of it! \r I can’t say I know how BigBucksAuto does what they do or what they do with the cars after I happily skipped away, but I heart them!\r

One day i just got into the car and drove down to Big Bucks and to my surprise they took the car of my hands that hour with cash in pocket! and i took the subway home. lol

Lori S.
