2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Review

I ve already written about the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. but I stumbled upon some photos of the Heavy Metal American model that was presented at the 2014 Toronto Auto Show.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Heavy Metal American

This model is not much different from the standard model that I previously wrote about, but I like the new metal color so much, so I decided to share with you these pictures.

On the photo below you can see how the new 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 looks from the front.

It is based on the 7th generation Stingray model, or C7, and I think it will appeal to many car enthusiasts.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a lot wider and has a bigger front grille, that in combination with front splitter, side door blades, air intakes and outtakes, allows better air flow, less wind resistance and therefore better performance.

The car s body is made from lightweight aluminum and carbon-fiber materials, because designers wanted to reduce the overall weight of this sports vehicle.

I leave you to enjoy in these pictures. If you want to know more details, read my Z06 review .

New Chevy Corvette Z06 Performance

If you have not read my earlier review, I will mention that under the hood of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a LT4 6.2-litre 8-cylinder supercharged engine. It is very powerful, it can produce a total of 625 hp and 635 lb-ft of torque. It can compete with the M838T engine found in the 2015 McLaren 650S .

The engine found in the model presented in Toronto was mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In combination with direct fuel injection, cylinder deactivation, and variable valve timing, which are part of the Chevrolet s new Fuel Management, fuel consumption is kept to a minimum.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Price

The automaker released the car s starting price, it will be $78,995 for the base model, and it could go up for additional packages. For example, the Carbon Fiber Ground Effects Package costs additional $2,995, while the special Z07 package costs $7,995.

10 Food Trucks You Need To Visit In Austin, TX

Austin has once again been taken over by South by Southwest. To the casual observer, it may appear that this is merely a music festival; however, look closer — with your stomach eyes –and you will realize that this is also an opportunity to showcase the city’s diverse, experimental and delicious cuisine. Present year round, Austin’s food trucks are the perfect way to sample a smorgasbord of treats and feed the thousands of concert goers. Below is a list of Austin’s finest and the dishes you need to try:

Why: Texans love their brisket — the definitive meat for Texas BBQ. Micklethewait’s brisket is tender, juicy and has just the right amount of seasoned crust. Do yourself a favor and go. to. here. Bonus, in its normal location on Rosewood Ave. Micklethewait is only five minutes away from another popular Austin BBQ spot notorious for its hours-long wait times.

Must-order Item: The Frito Pie is the must order item at Mickelthewait. A heartier version of the classic frito, chili and cheese dish, Mickelthewait tops their pie with two large lamb-chorizo sausages. This dish more than any other was a conversation starter among other hungry Southbyers.

(During SXSW, the truck is located at the SouthBites food trailer park at 604 Driskill St)

Why: You can’t have completed a food truck tour of Austin without a visit to the East Side King truck. East Side King is the creation of chefs Paul Qui (winner of Top Chef Season 9) and Moto Utsunomiya. The chefs are inspired by “Asian cultures, rock bands and Austin’s laid-back, experimental and fun-loving vibe.” The trucks are covered in the artwork of Peelander Yellow and embody Austin’s creative, colorful and free spirit.

Must-order Item: The beet home fries at Eastside King are insane. The beets are first roasted which gives them a slightly sweet flavor and soft texture. They are then fried to get the crispy outer crust and served with a tangy mayo. Sweet beets and creamy mayo, is there really more that needs to be said?

(During SXSW, there are several trucks across the city as well as the location at the SouthBites food trailer park at 604 Driskill St)

Why: This relative newcomer to Austin’s food truck scene definitely delivers on the sweet treats. Also, the truck is one of several businesses in Austin that accept Bitcoin as a form of payment.

Must-order Item: You must get the cinnamon sugar mini donuts in a big bag. The donuts also come in small bags, but please just get the big bag and save yourself the second trip to the truck. Actually, you might make a second. or third trip even with the large bags because these bite-sized donuts are the most perfect light, crispy pillows of deliciousness that melt in your mouth. They are reminiscent of funnel cake and I want them always.

(74 Rainey Street)

Why: In Texas, we eat tacos all day — breakfast, lunch and dinner. For those of you that do not understand the concept of breakfast tacos (which are different than breakfast burritos), do yourselves a favor and get educated at Veracruz All Natural.

Must-order Item: The homemade tortillas, hot sauce and fillings of potatoes, egg, cheese, beans and bacon make these the best breakfast tacos in town.

(1704 E. Cesar Chavez)

Why: Chi’lantro does the fusion cuisine that permeates Austin’s food truck scene right. The Korean-Mexican hybrid is just what you want for late-night snacking and combines two of the most perfect foods — tacos and kimchi.

Must-order Item: The kimchi fries are smothered in cheese, sriracha and a creamy “magic” sauce. They are then topped off with — pay attention — caramelized kimchi and Korean BBQ. This sweet, tangy, savory and spicy dish is one of my favorite food experiences.

(During SXSW, there are several trucks across the city as well as the location at the SouthBites food trailer park at 604 Driskill St)

Why: Hey Cupcake! was one of the first (now ubiquitous) silver airstream food trailers in Austin. As the name would suggest, they serve large, richly wonderful cupcakes. Bonus, if you just HAVE to have cupcakes and cannot make the trip to the truck. they will deliver the goodness to you.

Must-order Item: For those of you with a sweet tooth, the red velvet cupcake is to die for, with its moist, soft cake and sweet cream cheese frosting.

(The original location is on 1511 S. Congress)

Why: The Peached Tortilla combines Southern and Asian flavors to perfection. The truck is so popular that The Peached Tortilla will open a brick and mortar location in Fall 2014.

Must-order Item: The BBQ Brisket Burrito is stuffed with dry rubbed brisket, cilantro lime rice, creamy slaw and a smoky roasted peach BBQ sauce. And as if this burrito couldn’t be any more perfect, it also includes everyone’s favorite–a fried egg. If you are in search of a hearty meal, eat this.

(During SXSW, the truck is located at the SouthBites food trailer park at 604 Driskill St)

Why: Hey! You Gonna Eat or What? is the official winner of the 2013 Truck by Truckwest Taste-Off. This food truck serves up large sandwiches and lots of ‘tude. To the unaccustomed, the snarky chefs can be abrasive at first but that’s just part of the experience. They always ensure to come out and make sure you are enjoying your food and that you leave well fed and happy.

Must-order Item: The Shiner Bock Monte Cristo is THE sandwich to order and the reason behind the truck’s 2013 win. This humongous sandwich is stacked with cheddar, provolone, mesquite-smoked turkey and pit-smoked ham and then fried in batter made from Texas’ finest brew Shiner Bock. Topped off with a dusting of powder sugar and a side of cherry-fig jam, this sandwich will leave you stuffed. Power through your food coma by walking along South Congress and take the opportunity to visit Austin’s weird and wonderful boutiques.

(1318 South Congress but they will move locations shortly to Zilker Park)

Why: Gourdough’s specializes in some big, fat donuts. These donuts are not for the faint of heart. At their pub location, they serve donut burgers, which will fill the donut-burger sized hole in your heart. It literally completes you.

Must-order Item. The Flying Pig donut is topped with bacon strips and covered in a maple glaze. In one bite, you will get all the breakfast flavors you need. Mmmm, donuts.

(During SXSW, there are several trucks across the city as well as the location at the SouthBites food trailer park at 604 Driskill St)

Why: Torchy’s Tacos has damn good tacos, enough said. Austinites take their tacos seriously and everyone has their favorites, but my loyalties lie firmly with Torchy’s.

Must-order Item: You cannot go wrong with any of Torchy’s offerings, but do try the Trailer Park taco. This taco is filled with fried chicken, green chiles, pico de gallo, cheese and poblano sauce. Order it trashy and they will replace the lettuce with their queso. That’s right, they will cover your taco in queso. For the vegetarians, the Fried Avocado taco is your go-to. Be sure to order a side of their queso as well. This cheesy, gooey wonderfulness was recently voted best queso by Austinites.

(1311 S. 1st as well as several brick and mortar locations across the city)

Whether you’re in town for SXSW or planning a visit, you have not experienced Austin until you have done so through a tour of food trucks. Get out there, get weird and eat some dang tacos — preferably, all day.

2014 Cadillac CTS Sedan

The first two generations of CTS played the role of Cadillac s multi-tool, intended to stretch across two sports-sedan segments. And it largely delivered on that front, appearing on our 10Best Cars list in either regular or high-test V forms, or both, from 2008 through 2012. But luxury-sedan buyers prefer their cutlery to serve a specific purpose to wit, BMW has the 3- and 5-series, Audi the A4 and A6, and Mercedes its C- and E-classes. And now that the wreath and crest has assigned its ATS to capably fight the 3-series and the like, Caddy s Leatherman has been freed to attempt to break the German stranglehold on the mid-size luxury-sedan segment.

Nowhere is the CTS s newfound mission more evident than in its dimensions. The car s wheelbase is up by 1.2 inches, and overall length swells by 4.2 inches to 195.5, making the new car roughly two inches longer than its German competition. Despite the growth, interior measurements don t change by much a tenth of an inch here, three-tenths there and rear-passenger legroom has actually decreased by 0.7 inch. But the company says that curb weight is down from the previous car, and that the CTS packs about 200 fewer pounds than does the BMW 528i, although we re unsure the spec of the models being compared. For reference, the last 528i we tested weighed 3883 pounds, while the most recent 3.6-liter V-6 powered CTS to cross our scales rang in at 4072 pounds.

One Twin-Turbo and an Octocog

Just a couple of weeks ago, Cadillac announced that the new car would feature a new, 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6. This mill, which also will see duty in the XTS, is based on the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V-6 available throughout Cadillac s lineup, but its roster of parts is 90 percent unique to accommodate forced induction as well as the resulting higher output. The force-fed six makes 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, and will sit atop the powertrain lineup. Among the Teutonic competition, BMW s 550i produces 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque from a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8, Audi s S6 churns out 420 horsepower and 406 lb-ft from its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, and Mercedes new-for-2015 twin-turbo V-6 powered E400 makes just 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft. Cadillac says its new mill, which will be fitted to models bearing a new Vsport trim designation, will propel the CTS from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 170 mph.

Also new is Cadillac s Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic, which is exclusive to the twin-turbo V-6. This box is said to handle gearswaps as rapidly as 0.3 second and to be more efficient (by 1.5 percent) than the six-speed auto that s mated to the CTS s other powerplants. Those engines include a 321-hp, naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V-6 and a new-to-CTS 272-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four that we felt let the ATS down in its narrow comparison-test loss to the 3-series. These powertrains will be available with rear- or all-wheel drive, while the top-dog motor will direct its power solely to the back of the boat. The new eight-speed can skip multiple gears during both up- and downshifts for further efficiency gains and quicker response.

Less Weight, Similar Efficiency

Underpinning the newest Caddy is a version of the Alpha rear-drive platform that serves as the basis for the ATS sedan. This lighter architecture is the centerpiece of the brand s weight-saving efforts. The front strut towers and subframe as well as a number of other front-suspension components are made from aluminum. Combined, they cut weight by about 50 percent versus the old pieces. Aluminum also is used for the car s hood and door structures which will save 16.6 pounds per door a first for Cadillac. Meanwhile, many rear suspension components are made of steel, Cadillac says, to help offset the weight of the engine hanging over the front axle. As a result, claimed weight distribution is close to 50/50. Thanks in part to wide use of structural adhesives at major weld points, overall structural stiffness increases by 40 percent versus the outgoing car.

What Is The Best Company To Refinance A Car Loan With Bad Credit History

There are many questions people usually ask on refinancing a car loan with bad credit: I want to refinance my car loan but my credit is worse than when I bought it? Can I Refinancing a car Loan with bad credit? I want to refinance my car loan but I have really bad credit any suggestion on where to get a loan? How can I refinance my car loan with very bad credit?

It is possible to refinance the loan you have taken on your car. It is not necessary that you will be happy with the existing loan you have taken. After obtaining the loan, you may learn that there are better options, and the good news is that by refinancing the car loan you can benefit greatly.

Look out for companies offering a lower rate of interest:

Those interested in obtaining a better rate of interest will always be on the look out for finance companies that provide a better rate of interest on the car loans. If you are looking forward towards saving money on the interest you can compare the present rates of interest with the rates provided by other finance companies. You may find that other companies do provide lower rates as compared to the one you already have. Getting lower monthly payments can surely help to save more funds and the worries regarding paying that extra money every month will be lessened.

For refinancing the auto loan you have to first understand how that loan differs from the loan that you are presently having. Switching over to another auto loan as per carloan.com is not a difficult process. One need not worry much about changing over to another auto loan. Once you switch over to the other loan you will feel glad you thought about the change. When you change over you will find that the new lender pays off for your old loan on the car. The monthly payments will be made through a new car dealer or lender and the title of the loan will required to be transferred to the other name. First of all you need to understand that you have to look out for the best process available to refinance your vehicle.

Check out for new loan lenders or dealers online:

Nowadays, a number of websites are available that offer loans that can be refinanced. By doing window shopping you find that there are many possibilities of finding new car dealership to refinance the car loan. Different lenders provide different rates of interest. By comparing the refinancing rates of the cars, it will be much easier for you to select the most appropriate loan. Once you select the desired lender, then you should be in a position to immediately provide all your financial details to the new lender. Qualifying for the refinanced loan is most essential, after which the rest of the transactions will automatically take place.

Details about your assets, your annual income, the debt load, as well as your credit rating all have to be presented to the lender. Once the loan is approved by the lender then there are a few charges that have to be paid to the lender. Re-registration fees as well as other fees like the holder fees have to be paid to the lender after which the deal is closed by both the parties. Now your existing car loan is replaced by the new loan which requires the title to be transferred in the name of the new lender. Changes in the economic situation of the country can cause depression in the economy which results in less credit at the disposal of the people. But whatever the situation, owning a car is always a dream to be fulfilled at some point or the other in life.

What Is An Average Interest Rate On A Poor Credit Car Loan

Do you have poor credit? Looking out for a car at some stage or the other in life is a common thing. Even if a person has a poor  credit history, the desire to buy a car cannot stop him from finding different ways of buying it. There are a number of people, even after having a bad credit are still on the look out for a new car.

They may also not be fully aware of the interest rates or APR that will be required to be paid for the loan that they will avail from the loan company. As regards the rate of interest, they really do not know, exactly what rate of interest will be asked by the car dealers.

Market conditions affect the rate of interest:

The average loan rate for cars can be anywhere between 4% to7% for those having a good credit. The rates of interest depend greatly on the source that you are going to use for financing the car. It should be noted that the market conditions also affect the rates of interest on the car loans.

The rates can vary dramatically, when the borrower has a bad credit. For instance, an average subprime poor credit score of 550 could give you interest up to 14.29% The varying rates of interest on the car loans are to be well understood by the borrower of the car loan. Hence it is a very crucial issue for the borrower to find the right financing company or auto dealer for the auto vehicle.

A good source like credit.com offers advice that enables the borrower to have a fairly reasonable rate of interest to be paid for the car.

A car having in-house financing even attracts interest rates of 20% and even up to 28% depending on the place you are staying. I would advice against in house financing and refer instead to credit union for car loans. The maximum interest credit union can charge for a car loan is 18%.

Some of the establishments that charge such unreasonably high interest rates were actually unregulated in the past, and to regulate them the state laws had to intervene to control such situations, so that things don’t go out of hand.

There is no such thing as an average interest rate on a car loan:

Many variables and conditions are responsible for determining the rate of interest on the car loans. Many factors are responsible, when you wish to obtain the lowest rate of interest for your car loan, even when you have a very poor credit. It is the lending source that determines the rate of interest.

There can be a possibility, where you have to pay a higher rate of interest on car loan with poor credit, than someone else who has a credit history that is excellent. So it is best if you do a thorough research and explore all possibilities before you accept any offer of the interest on the loan.

Accepting an interest rate of above 12% needs a thorough research from your side. Having to make unnecessary high payments of interest could be the worse thing that you can face. Improving your credit in the future and getting ahead with payments, gets more and more difficult as you keep shelling out huge amounts on the interest.

Making use of the reputable and legitimate sources available online are very useful in obtaining the lowest interest rates on your car loan. Services offered by the lending companies keeping varying from one another. Some of the lending companies may be more reputable than the others, so it is important for you to be doubly sure before you finally sign the loan contract.

Average used car price hits record high in 2014

In another sign that the auto market’s recovery has not yet peaked, the average used car price hit a record $16,800 last year, according to a report from Edmunds.com

That was up 5.7% from 2013’s average of $15,900. Higher used car prices mean that the resale value of three- and four-year-old vehicles coming off leases is strong. They also mean that people looking to buy new cars are likely to get reasonable offers on the models they trade in.

A major driver for last year’s gain is the growth in what automakers and their dealers call the “certified pre-owned” (CPO) market. These are mostly off-lease vehicles that dealers recondition and offer as alternatives to bargain hunting consumers who don’t want to buy a new vehicle.

U.S. dealers sold a record 2.3 million CPO vehicles last year or 21% of the nation’s used car market, up from 1.53 million in 2009.

“We fully expect CPO popularity to continue throughout 2015 because many leased cars are being returned in excellent shape and lightly used cars are being traded in at faster rates than in previous years,” said Jessica Caldwell, an analyst at Edmunds, a car-shopping information service.

Edmunds broke down the 2013 to 2014 used car price changes by age of vehicle. The increase in average selling price of 1-year-old and 4-year-old vehicles was about the same as the 5.7% jump of the overall used car market.

Surprisingly, prices for older cars rose even faster. The average price of 8- and 9-year-old models jumped 8.8% and 8.5% respectively, and they ranged between 10.5% and 15% for those that were 11-years-old or older.

Edmunds’ Caldwell said vehicles between 11 and 16 years old benefited more from falling gasoline prices because buyers weren’t as concerned with fuel economy as they were with utility.

Melinda Zabritski, director of automotive credit for Experian, a credit analysis firm, said the increase in subprime auto lending could be another contributing factor reinforcing older vehicle prices because subprime borrowers tend to purchase older vehicles.

Another factor driving the certified pre-owned market is the rebound in leasing, which now accounts for about 27% of all new vehicle transactions, up from about 18% in the worst of the Great Recession in 2009. But more than half — 53% — of luxury car transactions were leases last year, up from 42% in 2008. So the population of vehicles those lessees return in 2017 or 2018 will be skewed toward the higher end of the price spectrum.

As leasing approaches 30% of the new vehicle market, used car prices could soften sometime later this decade. A study released last November by Autotrader.com and its affiliate Manheim Consulting, projected that the number of vehicles coming back to dealers will climb from about 2.2 million last year to 3.4 million in 2017.

“The supply is building and prices are dipping some, but not collapsing,” said Michelle Krebs, an analyst with Autotrader.com.

Experian’s Zabritski predicts used car prices will remain strong for the near term.

“You’ve got a combination of rising prices coupled with an increase in the end-of-lease returns so we’re probably going to see used prices leveling off,” she said.
